Here are 5 research papers that focus on the benefits of lion's mane mushrooms:
Lion's mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus): A medicinal mushroom with neurotrophic properties (2016)
This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the neurotrophic properties of lion's mane mushrooms, including their ability to promote nerve growth and regeneration, protect neurons from damage, and improve cognitive function.
Neurotrophic properties of the Lion's mane medicinal mushroom, Hericium erinaceus (Higher Basidiomycetes) from Malaysia (2013)
This study investigated the neurotrophic properties of lion's mane mushrooms from Malaysia. The researchers found that the mushroom extract promoted neurite outgrowth in neuroblastoma-glioma cells and induced the secretion of nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein that is essential for nerve growth and survival.
Therapeutic Potential of Hericium erinaceus for Depressive Disorder (2022)
This paper reviews the preclinical and clinical evidence for the use of lion's mane mushrooms in the treatment of depression. The researchers found that lion's mane mushrooms have antidepressant-like effects in animal models of depression and may also be beneficial for humans with depression.
Neuroregenerative potential of lion's mane mushroom, Hericium erinaceus (Bull.: Fr.) Pers. (higher Basidiomycetes), in the treatment of peripheral nerve injury (review) (2012)
This review paper summarizes the research on the use of lion's mane mushrooms in the treatment of peripheral nerve injury. The researchers found that lion's mane mushrooms can promote nerve regeneration and improve functional recovery after nerve injury.
Neuronal Health - Can Culinary and Medicinal Mushrooms Help? (2017)
This review paper discusses the potential benefits of culinary and medicinal mushrooms for neuronal health. The researchers focus on lion's mane mushrooms and their ability to promote nerve growth and regeneration, protect neurons from damage, and improve cognitive function.
These are just a few of the many research papers that have been published on the benefits of lion's mane mushrooms. The research on lion's mane mushrooms is still in its early stages, but the existing evidence suggests that these mushrooms may have a number of potential health benefits, including improved cognitive function, reduced inflammation, and protection against neurodegenerative diseases.

The first time I popped a Lions Mane pill (Double Wood Lion's Mane 1000 mg per dosage); I actually cried! I felt this hairball of anxiety and grief rise up from my belly, and I felt like I had to vomit it out! And it came out of me through a deep, deep sigh and tears from my eyes! That's when it occurred to me that mushrooms are not just healing our bodies but that it's about so much more. It's holistic healing that includes the SOUL. Believe it or not but that's my experience and I'm eternally grateful to lions mane! 🙏🏼🩷🦁
Note: I pop one pill (500 mg) at a time. AM and PM.

You sure it was a lions mane mushroom? There are othre mushrooms that do exactly that, pretty much every time they are eaten.
😂😂
@Chris-iu3vl Yes, I am sure. Double Wood Lions Mane in capsule form. But I am also a very gentle person who notices on the daily things like a light bulb change in a building or the subtle change in the favorite milk box's choice of colored carton. Whereas someone with senses less in tune wouldn't notice many things.
@@Cjoybellclovescake You should try the other ones too ;)
I suffered the borderline disorder for over 23 years, with so much anxiety not until I came across psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment actually saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean.
Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms
Microdosing helped me get out of the pit of my worst depressive episode, a three year long episode enough to start working on my mental health
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Germany. Really need
He's Shane.myco
Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
He’s on insta?
Psychedelic mushrooms really healed me years back. Totally got rid of depression, anxiety and illicit pill addiction.
That's great man, I'm Trying to dispose of depression. I’ve been searching, but I can’t find anywhere to source
dr.perryshroom is your guy. Got all kinds of psychedelics stuff. Guided me through my first ever experience
Hey, YES, dr.perryshroom. There's a lot of potential in psychedelics
Nature is magical and healing. what a beautiful experience 🍄
hm. Can dr.perryshroom dispatch to me in LA?
Grew my own lions mane, dehydrated & powdered the harvest. Been taking a teaspoon for a month and my 61 year old brain hasn’t worked this well in 30 years. My memory has been getting challenged over the last year so I did the grow project. I can’t say enough…I recited a Bible passage today at Church and NO WAY could I have done that a month ago. 👍🏼💯
Hi, may I ask you how do you take that teaspoon of mushroom? with water\tea ? Thank you
That's awesome, I'm trying to tell everyone to take these amazing things. Every try cordyceps? Gives you energy at the cellular level (allegedly), it definitely works.
Have you tried stir-frying some lion's mane just for a meal? I mean keep doing what you're doing using as a supplement, sounds like it's working. A while ago I bought some at a farmer's market, sliced up about half of it, stir-fried in butter and bacon fat, and after the first bite I thought "I have to grow this. I'll go broke buying it." Then about 40 mins later it hit my brain. Hard to describe what it felt like. Like really high but not inebriated. Like the world slowed down around me but I could move around normally. Thought it must be around 7pm, looked at the clock and it was 2pm. Didn't eat anything for the rest of the day, didn't want to. Ate the rest of it the next morning the same way to see if it was just psychosomatic, same thing happened. Spotless house, flowerbeds weeded, trees trimmed, hedges pruned, came back in thinking it was much later again, 3pm. Put 3 miles on my dog's feet, still wasn't tired.
@@masterofpuppers7963 Wow impressive results, and almost instantaneous. For someone like me who is super sensitive to "sudden changes" in my body (ex. I felt the effects, negatively, almost instantly when trying Red Bull the first time haha), would you say lion's mane consumed the way you did it would hit me hard or is it super subtle? The kind of mental clarity you mention is something I have not felt in decades, if at all. And man do I need it.
Do you sell it? I will buy some 🙏
I have multiple sclerosis and over 70+ legions through different areas of my brain. Since taking Lions Mane daily for over 3 months, I feel sharper. I am a hell of a lot faster at learning new things, and I am now even becoming a computer programmer. In 2011, my MS experience was SO bad. I lived in a hospital and then Stan Cassidy rehab in Fredericton, NB. I couldn't walk, talk, feed myself, bathe myself and even lost my vision!! Of course how you live everyday matters; cut smoking, drinking, and processed food, get good sleep and exercise - no matter how silly you look at the beginning but Lions Mane is like the icing on the cake I've worked so hard to bake. For me, it has become an essential part of my life and I believe to my core that anyone with brain damage MUST use this as part of their treatment regime.
HI. May I ask you how many grams of Lion's Mane do you take daily and HOW do you take them (pills, tea, etc..)? Do you use Lion's Mane extract or just powder from mushroom? Thank you
Huff Post... GLUTEN; What You Don't Know Might K?ll You - Talks about how Gluten is Linked To ALL Autoimmune Diseases. To Include MS
You're starting with Python, right? Always start with Python. My university started me on Java. This was a poor decision.
That's fantastic! Thank you for sharing. Have you heard of Dr. Coimbra reversing MS and other autoimmune diseases with high dose vitamin D3. Dr. Berg here on RUclips has a short video about it. 💪 I have been doing it along with other things to help reverse MSA, a brain shrinking disease that is terminal and no cure. But Godnis showing me how to reverse it! I was diagnosed October 2020, could barely walk, comprehend, sometimes couldn't swallow and autonomic system shutting down but I am nearly 100% today! I am now getting ready to add lions mane to my regimen and I believe that what I have learned these past 4 years could help all brain degenerative diseases. Blessings!
brinley,, you get cured from heat intolrence?
I started using Lion's Mane in 2017, after reading Paul Stamets' research. Though skeptical at first and expecting little or no results, I was immediately suprised by the vivid and detailed dreams it induced, ranging from blissful experiences to memories of past sorrows. The more unsettling dreams have served as a form of catharsis for me. Consequently, I've been a regular user since then. My wife began her own Lion's Mane supplementation in mid-2019, primarily noticing a reduction in stress levels and more resetful sleep. We've also added fresh Lion's Mane to our diet and enjoy the taste and texture it adds.
Whether Lion's Mane preserves cognitive capacity into old age remains to be seen, however the effects for us have been positive so far.
how much do you all take a day?
How much? Which supplement?
First, I just want to say thank you for making this great video. I have been patiently waiting for you to cover Lions Mane mushrooms. Excellent job talking about everything that science has been working on as well as what the older teachings were. It's good to see science behind claims. It's not always easy to put our faith and trust in something unless there's some science behind it. But, I do trust much of what our ancestors learned. And it seems like society is tossing away much of that because that's what apps are for. Ughh. Lol! Anyways, I not only see benefits in myself taking this as well as my partner AND my dear sister, who was very recently diagnosed with Parkinsons. I am definitely going to start growing this and adding to my daily regimen as well as chaga. I've been looking for chaga in the forest and I can't wait to find some. You weren't in the Keewenaw a few weeks ago, were ya? Saw someone looked just like ya while I was out hiking. Have a great week, and thanks again for all your and your teams hard work! 👍 👍
Thank you so much for including me in this video! I love lion's mane and excited to try the magic mind!!
Definitely! I can vouch for both
I have taken 2 pills a day to clear brain fog for just over a year now - I’m not convinced but do it for insurance purposes. Combined with 16:8 fasting it seems effective but I’d like to see bigger and more numerous studies replicating the original ones. We shall see over time but as I’m 67 now I’m not going to wait - just in case.
Who?
Thank you , i am definitely going to add this to my supplements 😊
I started my mushroom infused coffee and supplement company called Zenco Wellness where we use chaga and lions mane fruiting bodie blended with 100% arabica in our coffee. We started the company because we are always eating mushrooms and I religiously drink coffee so we thought it'd be perfect for people who wanted extra benefits from there coffee but also recognized people were sensitive to caffeine so we made gummies with a 10:1 ration of 10 different mushroom extracts and after taking them for about a month you can absolutely notice a difference when trying to remember certain things and just being able to get to sleep faster at night. Lions mane is by far my favorite mushroom hands down!
I noticed the difference the first day I took it. Immediately had more energy and felt happy.
I seem to have more energy
Me too n sharper mind, better mood
Psilocybin containing mushroom honestly saved my life from heroin addiction, depression and mental disorder. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.
Congrats on your recovery. Most persons never realizes psilocybin can be used as a miracle medication to save lives. Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death bud, lets be honest here.
Jesus did the same for me. 10 years of IV use...I lied ,cheated, robbed ..turned my back on Everyone and everything. Glory to God. My life has been changed forever. Blessings in Jesus.
Amazing video, thanks
Thanks Shawn for the big discount, I just picked up some Laird mushrooms and greens! 👍
I’ve been taking Lions Mane for about ten days and have noticed an improvement in my clarity of mind. I feel more alert & even my eyes feel more open. I bought some because it said it would help with clarity & focus and it’s certainly done that and pretty quickly too.

It's like a leaf lower has blown all the bullshit out of your head
My dog has early onset dementia and I give her lions mane daily and I've noticed that she's getting more alert I personally think its slowed her dementia down
Some veterinarians recommend lions mane as a supplement for dogs overall health including digestive, energy, skin and overall health.
How many days it took for you to work ?
I have a successfully inoculated stump in my backyard. It was far more successful than the pre-inoculated log I wasted $ on recently. I also have an amazing mushroom that volunteered growing on a sycamore tree. The Volvariella Bombycina (Silky Rose Gil) that I’ve read is very rare. One video specificly says not to eat it because it is so rare. Frankly, letting it go to waste made less sense. It has an amazing taste! It spores pretty quickly and my tree is crazy prolific in the spring through the early fall. A friend of mine has also found some fairly prolific sites in a nearby woods as well. I’ve never tried inoculating with the Silky Rose Gill spores. What do you know about the Silky Rose Gill?
what happens if you stop taking it?
I don’t think you’re going to even answer.
Beautiful explained video
Lions mane has made my intuition so on point with clarity. I ❤ it
What a beautiful video ❤
Perfect timing I've been looking into mushrooms. Attention span has been getting worse lately. Props sticking to this experiment for a year.
I have MS and since taking Lion’s mane I can confirm that my pronunciation of words have gotten better and faster. Concentration is better and I can feel a difference. My daughter said she can see my movements and walking has improved. So it’s definitely doing good stuff. The bad thing is going to the bathroom more frequently. Maybe it’s not a bad thing
When considering mushroom supplements, I think it's important to make the distinction as to whether the source is from mycelium or from the mushroom fruit. With regards to lion's mane, my understanding is that the mycelium would be ideal source as opposed to the fruit. Happy for any feedback on this. 🍄
My understanding is that the mycelium does contain great compounds. On many mushrooms it's identical. I'm not sure exactly with this one though. That has lead many people to say the mycelium are a great source of these compounds. It's easier to grow for instance. However, the problem you always face with mycelium is that you can't harvest pure fungi - it's always harvested and mixed with the grain. If you're ok with a bit of grain in your extract, then I actually don't see a big problem with it. It would be more pure as a fruiting body though.
@@UntamedScience I'm with you for sure. And with lion's mane, it seems like it might be the fruits are better. And of course if you're consuming mycilium, you can't have stuff like vermiculite in your substrate mix. Peace. 🍄
Man this has got to be the slickest commercial I've seen in a long, long, time. You almost got me, but what the heck I'll be ordering.
Look out for lion's mane, oyster mushroom or Turkey tail mushroom... I use them too.
You could get that from my vendor @ charliuasca 🌴👁️
Try a standardized extract. 1g 30% polysacharides for example. With this dosis I dont need coffee anymore and it feels much better!

I got a 10 pound lions mane mushroom kit from hidden-harvest mushroom farm. So worth it Especially if you consider price and we have gotten 3 harvests from it. Me and my wife can't wait to cook them when there finished growing. Try lions mane tacos yummy.
Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.

Great episode. My parents and I take it too. It does have noticeable benefits!
The composition of the mushroom is also affected by the substrate it grows on. On one instance my mom broke out in itchy hives on her arms shortly after eating a whole lion's mane mushroom, whereas previously the mushroom has not given her any problems.
That's it, Lion's Mane, here I come... 😆
Cool thanks, I take it in powder form a heaped teaspoon in my tea with a bit of chaga powder every morning.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful grandma with us.

Thank you 🍄
You also need to look into lots of B1 vitamin, and I mean lots of it along with MCT oil, which must be slowly introduced and more and more not too quickly because they will get diarrhea, but it helps the brain along with lions mane mushroom. These have helped my family tremendously. It’s worth a try, believe me and the other thing you have to learn how to do is to cut back on as much sugar as you can in her diet .
Mushrooms are absolutely fascinating, but sadly we keep researching and making all these chemicals for mental health that numb people down and kill their personalities in the name of profit and treatment. It’s almost like the pharmaceutical companies don’t want you knowing there are far more effective and less dangerous alternatives to lots of medications.
The pharmaceutical conglomerates are the biggest and most successful terrorists the world has ever encountered.
No money to be made though in natural stuff is it. Unbelievably cruel
Lion's Mane is helpful for schizophrenia. Google
I take the opposite view. If there is a real health benefit, pharmaceutical companies who are held to a very high standard, will take the beneficial extract and make it into a medicine, leaving any harmful stuff out.
an extract of Lion's Mane called Amyloban 3399 is on market for treatment of dementia. Also great results for schizophrenia.
I have been taking it for only two days and I already have massive results.
I eat lion’s mane often in the morning. I tear a piece of it and chew on it , then let that paste sit under the tongue for about 10 minutes. Since it’s going directly to the bloodstream this way, onset effects are much faster. I feel this clear head focus come on, like a focused intensity. Clear mind, fast thought process, just amazing
Fascinating. Thanks for sharing.
I'm wondering, if you would buy lion's mane powder, does it have the same effects?
Thank you ❤
I highly recommend Paul Stamets "Host Defense" brand of Lions Mane Mushroom, among other mushrooms in his brand.
I have been taking the freshcap lionsmane supplement for approximately 2 months now. I DO notice a difference but yes it is very suttle. It is a great addition to my already regular therapy, mixed with now ketamine infusion treatments, and cannabis prescription. Also taking ultimate mushroom complex by freshcap. Noticing Suttle differences in general anxiety and depression sort of lifting a bit.
:) I share all those sentiments. Great to hear from you!
Maybe if you keep taking it, you might learn the correct spelling of subtle

Why would you give a mouse a placebo ? Is this just another way of saying they received no lions mane ?
You give the little mouse a placebo so he doesn't feel left out and become depressed, which could skew the results of the experiment. Also, they are so pitiful when they cry because they didn't also get the treat.
Just started taking a tincture of lions mane. Let’s go!
You should try carnivore, and so should your grandma. Have her try coconut oil for the MCTs. Helps with brain function.
Take supplement daily and have so for four months. Yes, a pleasant uplift with less anxiety so it really does work. Doing dried fruit of 100% cap and stipe.
i have it, but im terrified to take it because of the horror stories on reddit.
I've been consuming a teaspoon a day for a while now. I haven't noticed any differences at all. That being stated, it tastes good and it can't hurt.
Can’t hurt… that’s kinda how I see it. In some ways it feels more like a vitamin. You don’t notice iron or vitamin b either… but you know it’s good for you. 🤷🏻♂️
@@UntamedScience, it certainly can't hurt. It's good food loaded with absorbable minerals at the very least.
Careful with iron. That's not something you want to supplement unless you absolutely have to. Most iron supplements are also highly oxidative.
On the B vitamin front, I can definitely notice a difference there. I get a big boost of energy but only because I finally sourced the right forms and brands to use.
It could well be the same situation with the lion's mane. Time will tell but I'm not giving up. I love fungus because I'm a fun guy. 🤡

Have any loose glutamate in it? I’m incredibly sensitive to it.
Popped capsules for 3 months now and i feel sharper than i ever have.
Agreed. It's kinda crazy isn't it.
So I’m a very inexperienced mushroom forager, just started my 2nd year. I was out walking with my girlfriend and her dog this weekend. I happened to look over from the side of the road into the woods, and there’s 2 magnificent lions mane mushrooms growing quite proudly out of a dead tree that’s been on the ground.
I happily returned to my house, got a knife and a bag, and began foraging again. I also found some Chicken of the Woods on a dead tree directly across from my house that I had harvested from last year. I went out again today after work, and found another nice Lions Mane.
I’d really recommend mushroom foraging to anyone that has the ability to do it. I find it to be incredibly rewarding.
I also feel that the mushrooms one finds in the wild are generally FAR more strong in any nutrient level than something you could buy. I added Chicken of the Woods I harvested this weekend to a chili I made this weekend, and even that made my brain feel supercharged today.
@MikkeyJamess who?? Spit it out already!! 🙏🙏
What do you think about Paul Stamets line of mycelium supplements? I’ve been taking his Lion’s Mane daily.
I prefer fruiting body only for my lions mane. I haven’t read lately but I think his are based on mycelium and grain mixes. Ok, but less pure. Check the label to see if talks about it
Where can I buy this?

Almost every morning I make a pot of my favourite tea and put a half teaspoon of lion's mane powder in a mug and just ease into my day.... the recommended dosage is 1/8 tsp per day, but I don't notice anything wrong..... I do notice a difference on the days I am rushed in the morning and don't have it though.

@@carolynanders2677, I doubt it. Those poor things are long gone 🤪
What can you say about the substantial subreddit that talks about the (negatively) life-altering side effects (panic attacks, pain for months after taking etc.)? I started taking 1,2g supplement per day a week ago but was ultimately scared away by those people since the probable benefits did not outweigh those possible backlashes for me
I've heard of those claims - and it makes no sense to me. I've never heard of anyone with a negative response to lion's mane. With that said, there are some easy ways to see if certain supplements are good for you. I may need to make a video about that.
I think it has to do with what is actually in those supplements and making sure it’s a reputable brand. Most are cut with grains and fillers, which aren’t the best for our bodies.
Real Mushrooms and Orevida are some reputable brands.
Along with pure supplements, making sure you don’t take more than 500mg can definitely help that. I noticed increased anxiety when I took too much cordyceps with my lions mane.
Another thing I’m looking into is when neurogenesis starts after you take it, your brain is rewiring so it kind of freaks out at what has been going on.
More like “my brains not used to feeling this way” or the brains working more properly than before so it ain’t happy at the conditions.
That’s why they always say take caution with mental health issues. It’s important to be aware of these things, too much of one thing can make an anxious/depressed brain freak out. It’s natural. Companies prey on people looking for quick fixes and make a crap product with cheap fillers. You want to find a reputable company that will show you what’s in their supplements.
What if you microdosed magic mushrooms and lion's mane and ashwagandha
3:44 I always learn things completely unrelated to the video I watch like I didn't know they gave placebos to rats. Is that a thing just because we know its a thing in humans so do it just in case, or have placebos ever been seen to take effect on rats ?
The main reason to do it is when they do double blind tests, where the people running the tests on the rats don't know which rats have been given what treatment to avoid accidental bias :)

Did you ever try Lions Mane on your grand mother? I have heard of amazing results with levels of reversal with oldies suffering from dementia. Also, many older people, and some not so old suffer from poor memories, and the LM showed miraculous results in most of them, but they ALL improved significantly after a period of two months.
Yeah it worked excellently on my grandmother... And I bought mine from a local mushroom farm.

What about all the side effects that people talking about that appear after 3-4 months such as sever anxiety and etc ?
I was hoping this was about improvement with your grandmother, but this was still interesting.
..... semax does the same thing. it is the neuro peptide that signals to the body to repair both brain and nerve damage. but everyone has a bit of damage because of modern chemicals so everything gets enhanced memory abilities taking semax.
Does THC counter act this

I bought 3 ounces of the powder at Grocery Outlet for about $8. I take 1/2 teaspoon in coffee.
Thanks for the great video. How much clients made did you take per day? You abstained from any supplements for a year? That doesn't sound good
