    The airtag spot by itself is worth the whole setup tbh

    I love smallrig. My rig is 90% smallrig 😂 the 10% is camera and lens and quick release mount and monitor 😂

    How many record minutes would you eating you get (with and without powering monitor) from the SR 155 on the a7siii

  • @areskrx9527
    @areskrx9527 11 месяцев назад +3

    Very good video, I have a question to see if someone can solve it, I have a Sony a7siii I don't know whether to use a USB C cable for power with the v-mount battery or use a fake battery, what do you think?
    By the way, what stabilization mode do you record in? nothing, standard or active?

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  11 месяцев назад +1

      I use the USB-C port from my v-mount battery because there’s no opening in the battery door for a dummy battery cable, so you’d have to leave the door open or remove the door.
      Stabilization: depends on what I’m shooting but if I’m handheld, it’s often in active mode!

    thank you for showing your awesome rig. may I ask do you need to leave a battery in the camera when powering via the v mount on usb c?

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  5 месяцев назад +1

      I do, yes! It basically charges the battery through PowerDelivery USB-C, and it charges it at a rate faster than the battery discharges, letting you run that NP-FZ battery as long as the V-Mount battery has juice 😁

    Hey! Just got that small ring battery and I’m worried about the “frying your camera” concept. Is this way safe for powering my camera and monitor?

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  4 месяца назад

      Hey! I’ve never had to worry about that, usually it’s the fault of an unregulated DTAP port. I would charge your battery via the USB-C port (as long as your camera accepts PowerDelivery charging). For your monitor, I’d run it off of the DTAP port via a DTAP to barrel plug cable or a DTAP to NP-F dummy battery!

    Im currently trying to build my first rig! Just wondering with the V Lock Battery Mounting Plate can i attach another quick release plate below that to connect to a tripod? Love the rig though, trying to build something similar 😊

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  3 месяца назад

      The bottom is an arcaswiss mount so you would just need something to adapt arcaswiss to whatever you need, definitely doable!

    I have a ? If my monitor. Well I m use in viltrox 550 pro monitor so I m trying do I use a d tape type c cable but it have two inputs witch the other one is 5v in cable type c can I still use both inputs far as running the power battery with a vmouth set up I have the canon r10 it is type c to type c to change the camera all day with a vmouth but I got the d tap cable too just kinda confused on what all cables I need I don’t wanna older the wrong ones

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  2 месяца назад

      You can use USB-C to USB-C for v-mount to camera. Then, depending on the ports available on your monitor; you can either go D-TAP to barrel port (AC port) or D-TAP to dummy NP-F battery

    Wait, the V-Mount Adapter Plate already comes with Quick Release Plate for Arca. Do you still need the arca-swiss release plate w/ airtag option?

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  Год назад

      To attach the camera to the V-Mount Adapter, you’ll need some sort of Arcaswiss plate on your camera!
      Camera > Arca Plate > V-Mount Plate > Can then be attached to anything else Arca compatible

    i know you get hooked up with gear, but have you tried the portkeys l5hp ii monitor? it's bright w/ a kicker; you can change cam settings, along w/ focus, on the touchscreen.

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  8 месяцев назад +1

      I recently picked up the Portkeys PT5 but I wish I got the L5HP instead because it’s only 500 nits 😭 but other than that I’m pretty into Portkeys’ monitors now!

    Great video! Have you tried powering your monitor with the 8/12v port while also using USB C for camera? Saw a video where this didn’t work. Curious if that was just a dud.

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  Год назад

      I have! I realized you have to plug in the DTAP last, or it won’t work for some reason, so camera first then monitor 😁

    • @zakkbeaty8352
      @zakkbeaty8352 Год назад

      @@DavidZhou crazy fast reply! We’re talking about the DC port yeah? Not the DTAP?

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  Год назад

      @@zakkbeaty8352 Ahh, just saw this. THAT I will have to check later because I don't have a barrel plug to barrel plug cable on hand, though I would wager you go left-to-right in terms of plugging things in on the interface (if it's the same weird quirk) or maybe it just doesn't work (though it should since theoretically the battery should be capable of the output).

    • @DavidZhou

      IIRC, not a huge difference, just different form factor but you should have most of the same mounting options.

    I’ve got this same rig but with a neewer battery 99E instead of the small rig. Unfortunately, im experiencing issues powering my A7s3 via the USB-C, anyone facing this same issue? Is it because of the type of battery or am I using the wrong USBC cord..?
