    6:12 for the ONE problem with the SmallRig VMount Battery Plate

      All you need to do is unscrew and remove the locking arm from its little cog, then rotate it either clock or anti clockwise a few degrees to make it clamp tighter or looser depending on your needs, test and retighten. If you have a few arca plates find your widest and narrowest, then once it set to fit both of them, all your plate will fit. Be careful not to strip the small screw and the locking bar may need a good pull to remove it first time.

    09:45 If you mount the top nato rail the other way round, the little safety knob can do its job better 😉 Appreciate your video. I got the same rig. Sometimes it's just better to stay with one company throughout the product line. 👍

    Thanks for the video, a quick question, I have the half cage small rig for the A7IV and the small rig base plate, the simple one for a set of rails, not the double rail connection points, like you showed around @9:30 ish and on my half cage the 2 little screws to put the base plate to the half cage do not line up with the base plate, so I have to put 2 other screws "vertically" to attach it. instead of the 2 smaller Hex type screws that are suppose to work with the base plate and Cages but it does not. So I have to use the typical base plate type screws on the other holes which stinks, but does this V mount work with the base plate. for rails, that you showed? the screws line up so you can put 2 screws instead of just one in order to keep it from twisting? Hope that makes sense. They made a mistake with the A7IV half cage because it does not allow this like it should, the holes are 1mm off so you cannot put the 2 hex type screws to attach the base plate for rails to keep it from twisting. Thanks brother

    I didn't realize that connectors like Arca and Nato were not uniform. It would be nice if everybody used the same specifications for Arca and Nato. Recently, I saw a Neewer top handle that would not fit on a SmallRig Nato rail. In another video, I was happy to see a Kondor Blue top handle that fit on a Neewer Nato rail. It made me feel that Neewer might be more compatible with different brands. I don't know if that is true or not. But now I wonder if SmallRig might not be so mix and matchable. I have this particular Small Rig VMount Batter Plate. I was thinking of getting a Neewer Cage, but now I wonder...

    On the SWIT-S140 battery does not fit on this product..it does not lock completely and falls off 😠..isn't it a standard for all?..forces me to buy batteries from SmallRig?..NOT normal.

    • @RobertMTeegarden
      @RobertMTeegarden  Год назад

      You don't have to bail on those things. What are you looking to add with rods? You wouldn't have as compact of a set up but you could add something like this to get the rods in there: amzn.to/3DYxtEB

    Hi Robert, would you know whether there a simple version of this so that i can just mount the V mount battery and still use my tripod with my Sony a7 iii (my screen is in the back of the camera body, and it only swings out behind and not sideways BTW and it looks like the Vmount battery may block my view of the screen) without having to buy the entire rig that you have? Thanks

    • @RobertMTeegarden
      @RobertMTeegarden  6 месяцев назад

      Maybe tilt the v-mount all the way down so you can still see the screen or use an external monitor when you need the extra battery?

  • @andrejcupac7359
    @andrejcupac7359 7 месяцев назад

    You don’t have to swap the cage. Just add a smallrig arca plate and screw it to the bottom of your existing cage. Only downside is that it’ll raise the camera slightly

    • @RobertMTeegarden
      @RobertMTeegarden  6 месяцев назад

      Ya, I know. The rig is already too tall for me so the extra few mm would drive me nuts.

    thanks for the video! I'm looking into this solution but all the rigs I'm seeing has the rod support on the bottom. if I'm not running a matte box...do I need those rods? Or is the smallrig compact vmount battery solution enough?

    • @RobertMTeegarden
      @RobertMTeegarden  Год назад +1

      You can run a matte box without rods. It would fit on the lens. You dont need rods unless you're attaching shit to them (focus rings etc.)

    This seems to be a common issue with Smallrigs ARCA Stuff. Arca plates seem to be the wild west when it comes to size. I would lean more to Kondor being correct in the standard, and that the SR QR needs to be fixed.
