    man that was hard to watch. I didn't even want to click it, but then that ending when she says, "...but i'm also a person with a heart, and a soul..." and with that smile. that really got to me. Much love, Ms. June Pointer.

    She was such a beautiful woman and her past trauma affected her and her work. I was reading Ruth's book and she said she knew her attackers. but, she was scared to tell on them to her family. she used drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain of what happened to her as such a very young age. She was never the same after that. I hope she can finally rest in peace .

    I had a sweet little conversation with June back in 93 when I worked at Kennedy airport. I will never forget it.She told me that the actual bathroom door fell off when she went to use the facilities inside of the Concorde plane that she'd been on lol....so cute with that little accent.

    Based on what her sister said two years ago the poor girl was gang raped at the age of 14 I’m actually amazed she was still able to do any shows through the 70s and 80s
    Everyone is fighting with them personal Demons I guess hers took a hold on her RIP

      @Isaiah King I 'm not in her shoes However ..if you fighting whatever demons she went though as a teenager after the gang rape ordeal and her only escape is music. and she also suffers from bipolar...drugs would be an escape.
      Bipolar only got recognise with the right medication within the last decade
      Again I'm not in her shoes.

      They grew up in the Acorn Projects of West Oakland, California -- in the 50s and 60s (their childhood) and that had to have opened opportunities for all types of adult-level temptations. I believe all four (4) sisters admitted to using drugs of some sort -- maybe some non-harmful drugs too, but I think Ruth, Anita, June and Bonnie all have confessed to having been substance abusers. Many of the artists from the 70s onward used drugs -- I think Papa John Phillips (from "the Mamas and the Papas") said that from 1967 to 1971 it was a total blur -- due to LSD and heroin use. Wild times were had!!

    Anyone who says that marijuana isn’t a gateway drug is a damn liar. Almost everyone who’s gotten into hard drugs, pretty much always starts with weed first.

      @deshaunx776 3 года назад +2

      It isn’t a “gateway drug” any more than alcohol or cigarettes. Plenty of people hooked on hard drugs never touched weed. Your thought process is why nobody is doing a damn thing about the opioid crisis. The middle class is out here popping pills and overdosing but they don’t think they’re doing “hard drugs” 🙄

    • @neilm.greenberg4173
      @neilm.greenberg4173 3 года назад +3

      @Tom Lowery that appears to be true...but, I can't help think of how much time Bonnie lost with the drugs...when the girls were on top of the charts, I used to wonder where Bonnie was...didn't really need to see her on the cover of a supermarket tabloid...she should have had a better solo career, and all the girls should have had better men in their lives...both Anita and Ruth's books are very hard, and depressing reads at times...🤔

    • @neilm.greenberg4173
      @neilm.greenberg4173 2 года назад +4

      @Tom Lowery I think part of the drug use stemmed from the sheltered way they were raised, combined with success, and the stupid cocaine culture that started big time in the recording industry in the late 1970's...both June and Bonnie should have had happier/longer lives...🤔
