I remember the Pointer Sisters very well. I also grew up in Oakland and saw a lot of bands in the Bay Area in the late 60's and early 70's. One place I went to a lot was the Berkeley Community Theatre - I saw many, many great people and bands there. One band was the Elvin Bishop Group. They supported a lot for things like John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison and Ike and Tina Turner etc. One time I went to the loo between the shows and saw the Pointer Sisters after their set sitting in the lobby. I walked over and told them how much I liked them - this was probably about 1970 - they were so gracious and sweet and chatted to me for awhile. I will never forget them.

Ruth Pointer is the only and last remaining sister alive, she's the oldest and outlived her younger sisters.

I'm drawn here today because I just learned of Anita's death. Will miss her talent, beauty, and musical contributions to the well-being and enjoyment for us grateful souls remaining.
