Diana Ross being interviewed @ her former Hollywood home in 1978 - this was broadcasted in the early 90s, hence the Central Park footage at the beginning of the clip.
Aww...the way Diana says "If That's What Made Them Happy" you can really hear the love Diana has for her children...that moment in the interview is so precious!!
This is a great interview. She's radiant but also she's just so honest. She admits to flaws and explains herself candidly and openly. You know she's not holding back. I have always been a fan, and I will continue to be. Beautiful spirit. You could feel that. And what's so great is we know she did find love again, and two more beautiful children came from that.
Man she is beautiful! Simply beautiful. Hair pulled back. Beautiful teeth. Clear skin. That face! She is the standard by which all these other girls are judged.
This woman is simply amazing. How could someone that is so loved by the world still feel so insecure? When you think about it, superstars are just like you and me. We have our bad days and our good days. That's what makes Diana Ross so human.
WOW you get so much insight on her personality...You see what drove her to the hights of her stardom..Her inscurity and desire to be liked by the world...WOW!!!!
It's her job as an interviewee to conduct a good interview, to give the viewers what they want to hear. I think Miss Walters does a great job at breaking the shield of perfection that celebrities uphold in their public image. This is good, as it makes celebrities seem more of an average human. It's her job. And she does it great.
One thing for sure judging from all of your comments, Diane sure has an intelligent group of fans. I must say that I certainly appreciate the fact that she always gives credit to her hometown Detroit. I must also add that dispite all of the criticism, I always loved her singing...It always made me happy inside and proud to be a fellow Detroiter.
"I'm proud of myself" :-). She is so natural, sincer, truthful, straight, candid and genuine. I'd like to have some chance to speak with her. She's amazing!!!
In NYC I attended the opening of "Robeson", a one-man show starring James Earl Jones. I was sitting in the orchestra seats as a guest of the producer.. There was a woman sitting in front of me with all this hair and I had to constantly shift in my seat to see the play. On either side of the woman were two huge guys dressed in suits and to her left was a young kid. When intermission came, the woman turned suddenly and looked at me. It was Miss Diana Ross. Michael Jackson was the kid!
Oh dear Michael was there Diana, he loved you all his life , he loved you more than any other man loved you. Diana would have been the happiest woman on this earth if she had married Michael! No other man loved Diana as Michael did!
Sarah F K You don't know that. We can't want someone to be in love sexually with another person. Only those two can feel what they feel for each other.
Sarah F K I disagree. I am one of Diana Ross's biggest fans. She was in love with her husband and the father of her 2 boys, Arne Naess even after they divorced in 1999. People feel because Michael Jackson was so in love with her and of course she loved him, that they should have gotten married. I have never gotten the impression that she loved Michael in a sexual manner but rather as family as she watched him grow up. Thats a big difference. The marriage/love thing with MJ and DR is a fantasy of many of MJ fans. I don't see that. Michael Jackson had very little in terms of traits that Diana's 2 husbands had and I don't see husband and wife chemistry between them. I see two dear friends who love each other. Just my opinion.
She was old enough to be his mother He also had a very strange relationship with Elizabeth Taylor. He was a great performer and singer.Unfortunately he was really messed up.Diana loved him and a friend. No more no less.
@loMJveable michael`s viewpoint in life and strenght i think he acquired from Diana.. if you researched on Diana, you will know what i mean.. MJ considered diana his mother, mentor, lover..
I just can never look at Barbra Walters the same after her little "scandal". She was always prying into everyone else lives but she was doing dirt. It's quite mesmerizing.
To my understanding, In her biography she released earlier this year she finally talks about an affair she was having with a married gentlemen who happened to be a politician. It was over 30 years ago and she told it all to sell her book. The gentlemen's wife didn't even know about it until the book release.
She reminds me of Beyonce when she says the part about wanting everyone to love her. Beyonce has said many times that she is a people pleaser but she has learned that no matter what she does everyone isn't going to be pleased.
+NilesNL69 I thought you did a couple of years back but yeah the 2002 special was on here but they took it down like in 2005 ish because it was one of my favorites.
Its so true in the early years there was virtually no company catering to black women when it came to beauty and the cosemetic industry. Case and point when the supremes first appeard on the Ed Sullivan show, the make up artist painted there faces to look like black face! Can you imagine al three of the supremes, there very different shades of a beautiful black women all painted one foundation color!!!!
Who only put one foundation and if you are talking about the supremes no not all of them florence and cindy didn't if you are talking about the late 70s them yes
I t was never really Diana who held Florence ballard back..Mary Wilson said it was a really Berry Gordy, even Florence has said her issues were with Berry
+jrpejones As I mentioned in the video's description, this 1978 interview was (re-)broadcasted in the early 90's. Barbara Walters added 80's footage and commentary
Her life would make a dramatic turn here. This was just before she went to New York to film the movie THE WIZ' where she discovered the relationship between her Michael Jackson had changed. It's all here! WARNING this reads like a book, be patient.www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-92398.html WARNING

She’s so beautiful (inside and out) 💖
Diana Ross is the most glamorous woman on earth!!!!!!!!!!
This woman is simply amazing. How could someone that is so loved by the world still feel so insecure? When you think about it, superstars are just like you and me. We have our bad days and our good days. That's what makes Diana Ross so human.

Damn, Michael took everything from this woman. Even the way she speaks. I don't blame him either, she's contagious.
Mz.LiteBrite in the 80s i.e We Are The World, MJ looked like her relative. Side by side they practically share the same face.
i know it is pretty off topic but do anybody know a good site to watch new movies online ?
@Keegan Khalid i use Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Nicholas Gordon definitely, have been using flixzone for months myself :)
@Nicholas Gordon thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!
Nice to see and know this side of miss Ross.I believe she had the perfect life at that time.
Yes its back!!! I love this interview!
oh i love that woman
Me too
I love this interveiw!
@loMJveable
i can understand why Mj loved Diana so much.. she is a great woman!
you're so right , and i would add the difference between michael and her is he was not able to protect hislife like diana did
Probably her most candid honest interview ever!!
no wonder MJ loved her dearly

i agree. I don't think MJ would have loved her so much if she were to be a nasty person. They both seemed like minded and gentle people.
wow she talks exactly like michael jackson...so many similar mannerisms, its eerie.
Oh! She is stunning! And an Aries queen like me:-)
perfection.
LOVE HER, DA QUEN
Gorgeous woman 😍
@MJDR4EVER
MJ acquired his personality from Diana.. ive seen diana`s interviews.. thats why MJ loved her, he acquired so much from her..
Beautiful!!
on a sidenote: it's amazing how many ppl barbara walters has interviewed
@loMJveable
michael`s viewpoint in life and strenght i think he acquired from Diana.. if you researched on Diana, you will know what i mean..
MJ considered diana his mother, mentor, lover..
After watching this, the new stars seems so immature by comparison
Rhonda got her mother's eyes. and I got to say Barabara has interviewed Diane a lot for many years.
Diana is a public representation queen!

That was some honesty fa yo ass..

caramelhoney29 florence ballard will say otherwise.
OMG .........Barbarah Walters WAS verrrrrry beatutiful........
Walters is actually beautiful. I've never seen her young before. lol
Those big beautiful bedroom eyes
Do you have the Mother's Day special Barbara did with Ms. Ross and her kids I think in back in 2004?
+babygyrl07 I'm not sure that I have it. It was in 2002, I'll have a look. Funny that it hadn't already appeared on youtube.
+NilesNL69 I thought you did a couple of years back but yeah the 2002 special was on here but they took it down like in 2005 ish because it was one of my favorites.
babygyrl07 I have it on vhs. Wish I knew how to post it. Was a great special with Diana Ross and het children.

Mickaël Jackson
@bigbear39ca Why didnt she talk abou t michael you have any idea? I think she didnt want to and said she wouldnt
true, but she's still human
the date says 1978 but the video she mentions the 80's
+jrpejones As I mentioned in the video's description, this 1978 interview was (re-)broadcasted in the early 90's. Barbara Walters added 80's footage and commentary
Exactly the editing is poor.
You can really see how Beyoncé has tried to lift elements of Diana and Tina Turner for her own persona instead of being an original.
At least Beyonce married a Black man. That speaks volumes about her sense of Black Consciousness.
yeah, Diana and Michael are soul mate for each other. MJ was highly influenced by Diana.
not really most of them
