- Welcome back to winter training - Ep. 2. Off-season is officially over, and Miguel’s abs are back in full-force. November and December is all about base-building and meaningful practice, so follow a perfect week of training with Miguel as he works to ramp up his run fitness + speed to become a professional triathlete. Despite some cold mornings in Northern California, we’re lucky enough to be able to swim, bike, and run outdoors all year long. It’s a week of beautiful Mt. Tam views, coastline riding, and Karl the Fog making himself known. Our first race is coming up in four months-Ironman 70.3 Oceanside. Time’s a’ ticking!

With that level of volume, how regularly are you taking easy/rest weeks? Seems like a tough workload to maintain over the course of a year.
Hi Liz! You are spot on - totally not sustainable to do this volume + intensity every week. I usually build for 3 or 4 weeks, then have a transition week which is almost half this volume. That transition week is usually kicked off with a day off. For context, this week was the 3rd week in a 4 week build.
@@FreestyleTri That makes sense! I have trained at a similar cadence, but that last week can get brutal! I bet your TSS scores on training peaks are a sight.
Good luck with the current block. Hope it goes well and you see the improvements in running you're looking for! Running has always been my weakest leg. Hopefully not forever!

Great question. And agreed- hate swimming with a watch. All by perceived effort. 1-hour hard practices are usually around 75 (in my opinion)

never been able to do it. It's the swimmer mentality where we've trained our minds to be ok staring at nothing for hours without end.

Which platform are you using for log/calendar?
we're coached by Working Triathlete (the best). they use Trainingpeaks to deliver schedules and allow us to log our workouts!
What program are u using for the schedule?
We're both coached by Working Triathlete, so everything comes from them. They use software called TrainingPeaks to deliver our workouts / allow us to log efforts and notes.
So Miguel is nice and all…. But I watch this for Jenna and this video was seriously lacking in Jenna time. More Jenna please.
