Anin A yeah whiteman are pretty bad it’s better to keep things like getting state down or atleast done by non foreign people a non foreign person I more likely to reinvest and build in the communities they came from
The virtual betting aspect is terrifying. No longer does a gambler need to wait for a live football match or wait for the outcome of the entire game. Another “product” by these syndicates to addict a generation.
Really admire the presenter for including his story. I pray he is able to clean himself up, work hard, become successful, and help others out of it. I pray others will support him in this.
Discipline yes but research lol. Keep dreaming unless u have an inside person in that betting company to rig the system or the game being played. The house always win either way. It's just sucker central living on pipe dreams.

CHAMPION BET PAYS YOU INSTANTLY... BET BET BET. INSTANT PAYOUT! INSTANT! FOR ALL YOUR BETTING NEEDS USE CHAMPION BET WHO PAY YOU INSTANTLY!
He even added instant
This is an award winning documentary. The guy should even start Gambling counselling group, with support by government
Its also an epidemic here in South Africa
Not really lol
Yeah it used to be way back in 2009-2011 era
I think it depends on where, bc I’ve never noticed it.
@@lordfloppa5863 same here
No its not lmao
I'm Chinese and my father says the word gamble in Chinese is a house with a well in front! Gambling is a losers game!
And yet Chinese are the heaviest when it comes to gambling. Ironic. Only difference with us and the Africans we bet big amount one shot instead of shitty small bets. That's why when u win it's definitely big.
But as Africa we must blame the devil for almost everything....
Even our choices....
The comments are a proof
Even though there’s disclaimers and warnings all over the place.Imagine a documentary about the evil of smoking in Europe.. governments in Africa need to regulate the industry and ban foreign betting companies Websites from being accessible within the country.
Thank you bro. Everything is the Whitemans fault
We give Satan so much credit
Anin A yeah whiteman are pretty bad it’s better to keep things like getting state down or atleast done by non foreign people a non foreign person I more likely to reinvest and build in the communities they came from
I agree. Without the will of man, the devil cannot stand.
In Africa especially Ghana and Nigeria sports betting is define as financial freedom for the youth
Kenya is the headquarters bro. Come here and see. Its sad
@@oppsinlyf Nigeria I don't have mouth to say it
I used to work for Kings Sports Betting’s counter part in DR Congo. At the end of the day it’s these companies that fill their pockets.
I'm an Australian that subs to BBC News Africa to learn about you but you just taught me a lesson about me, THANK YOU!
Thank you for your interest in us!!!
The virtual betting aspect is terrifying. No longer does a gambler need to wait for a live football match or wait for the outcome of the entire game. Another “product” by these syndicates to addict a generation.
Yes especially here in Nigeria, Bayelsa State precisely I have seen somebody loss all most 200,000 k in virtual betting. Am also an addict in betting.
Gambling destroyed my best friend's life I'm sorry for Africa.
Gambling's an Epidemic everywhere I see......
Yep and they're pushing these sports betting apps so hard at least in my country
ᄏᄏno ticks yeah they are because why go to a store or a bar etc when you can just click and bet at home
@@theostrogon9172
Make sense
So true...I've been seeing more and more of these betting companies in my city now..it's spreading and it's definitely not good.
this got me so emotional..lovely documentary
❤❤😂😂❤❤❤❤
Marthius's story made me tear up. Addiction is an ugly old friend of mine so his story really touched me.
12:25 We discourage betting then the same guy tells his listeners which team to choose.haha
Also barn churches as well, they take money from people promising them more riches...
Well said that's much worse
The Love of football got us into betting😥😓
I really enjoyed this documentary.
Really admire the presenter for including his story. I pray he is able to clean himself up, work hard, become successful, and help others out of it. I pray others will support him in this.
I feel you brothers im 18 from Albania and when i win 100 euros im losing 250
Ça bone
Seems like Everytime I don't bet my picks win🤦🏻♂️ smh
Betting takes discipline and research it’s not for everyone there’s nothing like fast money do the research and play it safe
I believe what you saying man,I still believe in sport betting but you have to be strategic, and not want quick money.
What fucking research? Lol. It's luck. Betting should just be banned 🚫
@@openjaws they are brainwashed by the betting companies
Discipline yes but research lol. Keep dreaming unless u have an inside person in that betting company to rig the system or the game being played. The house always win either way. It's just sucker central living on pipe dreams.
@@edster8416 Only way to make money in sports betting is by arbitrage.
First and foremost, let me pin point that the guy is a great reporter by birth. To get a Ugandan with such a smooth flow of English is stunning. Secondly, on a personal perspective, i"ll never quit sports betting😂😂😂😂🤣this thing is sweet, its addictive and its lovely😊😂😂😂 What the Ugandan government should do is teach the youths about risk management. You don"t stake a bodaboda for a multibet for heaven"s sake😁😁. Latstly, betting on MAN UTD to win is misleading😂😂😂😂......MOB LOVE FROM KENYA FOLKS
Hey I'm a Chelsea fan too
the journalist is very honest, i like his work
Question is will he be honest in other stories other than gambling and unemployment - But we would never know, if we dont take a chance on him.
Kenya has good regulations on sports betting. Uganda and the rest of Africa should emulate that
20% wht is crap I need my full win
Where did you get the information that Kenya has the best regulations in Africa?
@@silungwe he said good but that is his opinion (not fact).

Great documentary!! This guy makes it more interesting to watch.
I really enjoyed this documentary. I’m white from London but gambling affects us all. Typical you don’t bet on the final and would’ve won. I’m a gooner so still gutted we lost 😭 Sorry to hear the loss of Mathias.
lol me 2 but i dont bet
Who said anything about race?
@@crackhead4540 ikr he should have just gone straight to the point
@@crackhead4540 it was a compliment, no need to get weird about it.
The point is that this was an amazing piece by bbc Africa so much that it has appealed to EVERYONE.
Someone is just giving testimony that hey “I’m not exactly the target audience but I really enjoyed this” and you want to be upset?
I’m African and I see on documentaries about Eastern European countries people saying “I’m black from zim and I loved this”. No need to be upset.
@@talk-supersix-seven6021 who got upset?
BBC News Africa is much better then the other BBC lol Im hooked on it now. This episode was very powerful.
We thank Kenyan government for banning some betting firm as well S setting tougher regulations to the operating ones. People are recovering now. Families being re-established . Ban betting, save lives
Which Kenya do you live my friend betting is alive in Kenya or maybe you meant *Witchhunt on some betting companies???
Don't you let anyone lie to you that betting was abolished it is alive and kicking 😏
You realize the government went hard on sportspesa because they refused to be tax-compliant, the gov't wants a piece of the pie. Youth lives are not of major concern to the gov't. Let us not console ourselves.
Joseph Mukande wewe ni meffii in my eyes
Hmm you must be one of the dumb gamblers around, it's not for everyone and only stupid people lose what little they have
The majority of betting shops in the U.K are located in poor/working class areas where unemployment is high. People with little money will always be chasing a dream and a big win could help them with their dream. It's sad to see the exploitation of poor people by these companies
It s natural selection brah.
@@edddddddddddd i made so much money from gambling this year....." natural selection " my ass.
The bbc just came with their fancy cameras, Collins did the rest
If we only we learnt to invest instead - study markets, study options, and see return.
THATS ALSO GAMBLING IN A WAY. THINK ABOUT IT. INVESTING INVOLVES TAKING RISKS
I hope my Ethiopian fellows see this it is becoming very popular there.
If these people ever had the chance to go to Vegas can you imagine the awe!
