OMG... This is the greatest. I listened to the song today and I thought to myself "I've got to learn how to play this!!". I can't believe I am about 95% there!! This is awesome. I can't tell you what a great feeling this is. I have the biggest grin on my face right now!

Hank Marvin in London, UK is the composer of this music we grew up with this music in the 1970s. He is fantastic and collaborated with Cliff Richard and group.
Fellow USMC knew how to play. He really Excelled at surf music.
Japan loves that stuff we talked him into going up on stage where he played for 3 hours with the band.
At 67 I have just feel in love with this song and Mr moto. Enjoy learning them on my strat
I just picked up my first fender Stratocaster and amp from a neighbor. Born in 1960 love all the songs from the 60s 70s 80s even the Disco funk. I'm not new to playing brass. But never learned guitar and always wished I would have started that first. Any tips for a brand new player. I wrench on cars and ride my xr650r so I got a few calluses still. I know I'm in for more. Any tips for an old newbi would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start by holding wrong. So making a save folder looking up does and don'ts. Trying to figure which one to start off with.
Brilliant, bravo! In July 1960 I was twelve years old. Exposed to the weird mix of the British pops, half comedy acts and half crooners, I wanted instrumentals. Initially this seems a simple tune to play but to emulate Hank Marvin you have to precisely set two delays and then play perfectly in time with them. Hank Marvin was responsible for popularising the Fender Stratocaster and inspiring several generations of guitarists. Unfortunately EMI failed to promote the Shadows' Apache in the USA and Americans are more familiar with the inferior cover versons.

This took me back a long way. It was one of the first things I learned on my old strat. I was fifteen when I learned this and I’m forty now. It was long before all these cool tablature apps and teachers on RUclips. I feel old for even saying it. 😂
House of the rising sun was my first song on the guitar. Apache the second one. :-)) I started playing the guitar learning it with old tape decks!

At 63 years old. Few days ago A neighbor asked if I was interested in buying a fender and amp setup. I played all the brass and Reed instruments in grade school. Always wanted to learn guitar. And LOVE surf music. Going surfing in Huntington Beach or Newport before taking the bus to school in the morning in our wetsuits. I have two goals with this guitar. Wanted to learn to play clean crisp notes. Then invest in a tremolo or upgrade to a better guitar. Maybe a Fuzz peddle and play all the old surf songs. Oh don't spread this around but I love the old guitar and Wawa sounds from all the funky disco stuff that I grew up with 60s 70s 80s. What are your thoughts?
First time watching your channel. I will look for beginners stuff on your channel. Don't even know a cord yet. I'm totally a newbie at guitar. But I'm retired. So broke out the 1977 Wayne Brown surfboard. Sex wax its still the best for you're stick.

Wow, after trying to learn this I think I owe Hank Marvin an apology. A far better guitarist than I ever gave him credit for.
Hello Steve. Thnx a lot for your visit and great comment. You are absolutely right! For the listener the melody in Shadows songs are easy to follow but to play it on the guitar is extemely difficult. All the things you want to know are in his playing. I'm a huge Hank Marvin fan. I will keep on making tutorials of a lot Shadows songs in the future. All the best. PtG

Hello. For this song I used some reverb, some delay, and I tweaked the treble and bass on my amp to color the tone. I also used the bridge pickup for the entire song. Hope this was a bit helpful. PtG

Hi well l have not been playing for over 30 years l am in my 70s now and after suffering a stroke I decided to get back into the guitar some of these songs are still hidden away in my brain lol but thanks for the help your video has given me

A young 16 year old taught me .I had to keep going back to him to show me the next part.I never ever forgot how to play it.Oh.The young guys name is ALBERT LEE

Wow, Albert Lee, I hughly admire his guitar work but I never dived into his style of playing. To dissect his fantastic country playing has been on my to-do list though for a lot of years. :-))
