Its crazy that there are still new Tool songs you havent covered. I started following this channel when I got my les paul silverburst 4 years ago strictly for the Tool lessons. Stuck around cause this channel rules
Hello Greg, thank you for the tutorial of 'Bottom'. Sometimes in my experience, the coolest sounding and most killer riffs are sometimes the easiest to play and feel out. Thanks again!!
Oh man glad you're doing one of the old ones!! I have said this before but...I really hope you do Swamp Song too. I am fairly new to guitar and I tried looking at a TAB for Swamp Song but it somehow feels wrong to me when I listen to it. Also hopefully one day you'll cover Third Eye and 10000 Days Wings Part 2! Cheers!
Are you guys even being ironic or do you really get gooseys from that part? Yes, we all have memorized by heart, but i didn't even intend to. But real question now, is there some real back story or meaning to that part?
There's no other choice but to go inside and rebuild what's broken. There's no other choice now. Too much, too far...I need to lie down now. See, I've gotta arm myself to fight you now cuz you left me no choice. I'll make weapons out of my imperfections. It's all I have left now. There's no other choice.
Ok, so my question. Right before the Henry Rollins spoken section, when the guitar dynamics quieten off, there are some harmonics or something going way off in the background. Who knows how to get them? I think I'm close but....
For the dead notes, are you just muting the string with your left hand or are you palm muting? The way you're doing it and the way it sounds on the record, it almost sounds like a DJ scratching back and forth, but it sounds kind of thumping/percussive when I do it.
Greg, what in the hell are you trying to convert us all too? 5:00 minutes into your tutorial a commercial appeared about the 'Holy Bible'. Lol! I knew there was some ominous overtones about your channel. Just kidding... It was very bizarre though.
I'm worried that with all these drop tuning technique lessons you are churning out, Adam will be sweating to come up with new riffs should hell freeze over. I joke, awesome lesson.
Greg, please post a description of how to replicate Adam's sound ( as close as possible) for those of us who may not be worthy of investing in something heavy duty like a Kemper, line 6 or fractal. What selection/ settings could be done on a modelling amp like the fender mustang gtx , amp choice and effects settings? I'm sure I'm not alone in this but I feel that tone can be hard to nail, especially because Adam seems to use different tones in a lot of different songs?

At the start: Pretty easy song
Solo: It's hard to hear what's going on. Here are some ideas.
However, an awesome lesson, rock on dude!!
I’ve been waiting dude!!!!
You did it yes
If i let you, you would make me destroy myself
In order to survive you, i must first survive myself
I can sink no further, and i cannot forgive you
I'm naked and fearless, and my fear is naked.

If I let you, you would make me destroy these riffs
what type of tuning did you use?
lol I taught myself this song because you didn’t make a video on it 😂
The only tool song I ever learned. I wore out the cassette tape in the 8th grade.
That 0-3-5 life !!!

Jesus loves you...haha, in all seriousness though, I don't control those ads. Might be (your) user browsing data cache coming into play 🙃

I love your stupid faces. Every time I pause I catch one and I know I probably look the same way when I play
I've never been crazy about Jones tone in their older songs, maybe because it's too crunchy? Still love watching the Tool lessons!
I like Tool, Les Pauls and Star Wars. Oh and my name is Greg and I have a red beard. Did we just become best friends?
Am I the only one who plays pinch harmonics on the 3/3 pick ?

I think he already made a video how to get tone close to jones
@@nathancompton8457 ok. I'll search for it!
I make stupid faces everytime i play, its like Kenny from Half baked trying to make a tough face
to be fair...if we ask Jones to give us the solo...im sure he would stumble.
Sounds like brand new strings lol

Sure when Maynard does it he’s “naked and fearless” but when I do it I’m a “danger to the community” and a “sexual deviant.”
