      Michelle, I think the Skin Aqua one had a "controversy" in 2019 due to a person trying the sunscreen and using a UV camera to see that the application was "splotchy" or "uneven." I think it's on reddit. What do you think about this?

    The Rohto Mentholatum Melano CC has completely changed my skin. I have used it for about 2 years, and the tube lasts for me approximately 8 months with daily use, and even on the last drop, there is zero signs of oxidization.
    This vitamin C treatment has faded every trace of post acne marks, and discoloration from the sun. I will never be without it.
    I don't understand why anyone pays a premium for unstable vitamin C products when this product is SO affordable and SO effective.

    • @kathleenem9207
      @kathleenem9207 3 года назад +3

      Genevieve, Is this a makeup with skincare benefits or a clear skincare product. It seems like it would be perfect to help in fading sun damage. Is it a spot treatment or all over application. Also would you mind mentioning whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin. You look very young and I am retired but it might help me.

    • @genevieveve
      @genevieveve 3 года назад +78

      @@kathleenem9207 I am 40 years old and I have normal skin, leaning slightly towards oily territory in the humid summer months, and slightly towards dry in the winter, but relatively somewhere in the middle. I am acne prone and somewhat reactive. I had dark spots from acne, freckles, and hyperpigmentation from sun exposure and I credit this product for changing my skin, I have been using it for years, but I noticed incredible change before finishing my first tube. My sister uses it too, she's got dry skin and rosacea.
      I treat this as a skin care product. I wear it under makeup too, but I don't think it does anything to make my makeup last longer, it doesn't function as a skincare/primer hybrid for me. I apply it all over the face, and even doing that, a tube lasts several months because it is so easily spreadable. I think you could use it as just a spot treatment, or a small area treatment if you wanted to because the applicator tip is so small, you don't have a large dropper applicator to fiddle with.
      I have tried many vitamin C products over the years and have been displeased with most of them - they are either gritty, too oily, too irritating, or they are not cost effective because they go bad too quickly, or they are just plain ineffective.
      This serum is highly effective, not a derivative. Also contains vitamin E, which works well with vitamin C as an antioxidant too. The carrier fluid itself is very light, absorbs easily into my skin, doesn't leave a heavy greasy layer, and doesn't break me out. I also don't find the formula to be sensitizing even though it uses ascorbic acid - I even used it to eliminate a spot of pigmentation on my eyelid and has zero issues with irritation. I use it in the morning, before moisturizer or SPF.
      This is also a water free formula, it is stable to the last drop - there is zero oxidization.
      I use tretinoin at nighttime now, but I credit the Melano CC for erasing all my dark spots and pigmentation before I even started Retinol.
      And to top it off, this product is very affordable. Especially given the effectiveness. I'd never ever even bother using another vitamin C product - this one is perfection! You must try it! I think anyone would love this product! I sing it's praises because I seriously LOVE it.
      Sorry for this long drawn out response to your question, I just really think this is an incredible product that everyone should try!

      @@Shana113 I've been using Biore since high school and it's been my go-to sunscreen for over 5 years. Biore is a Japanese brand, not Western, and I also went through a hating Western sunscreen phase b/c of how thick and sticky they were. As a super oily person, thick sunscreens were the bane of my existence 😅
      Tbh I've been testing out some Western sunscreens these past 2 years and although Western sunscreens and skincare have gotten A LOT better these days, I still end up coming back to my trusted Biore sunscreens. The biore sunscreen burns my eyes like no other 🥺 Japanese sunscreen is my favorite, however the current trend in Asia for “tone up” products has seen an increase in sunscreens with intentional (and intense) white cast. Skin Aqua with the pump is my favorite for body application, and I like Anessa for face! Canmake’s Mermaid Skin (or something like that) is also really nice! Super cheap and no alcohol. RMK is a Japanese makeup brand and apparently their sunscreen is quite good and something I’m eyeing to try this year.

    My favourite Anessa sunscreens are Whitening UV Gel AA SPF 50+ and Perfect UV Skincare Milk A SPF 50+. They have reformulated the Perfect UV Mild to a 2021 version ; Perfect UV Mild Milk N, with Shiseido's new "Smooth Protect Technology". Can't wait to try it when it's available for purchase from/in Malaysia. I agree that the 2020 Mild version was quite whitecastey and never truly set. But honestly, in terms of performance, nothing beats the Anessa Perfect UV Milk. Korean VS Japanese sunscreens? I don't think Korean sunscreens even had a chance.

    These products are very popular - thanks for the helpful review! I'm allergic to zinc oxide so I can't use the Anessa Milk but I got the gel version. I also recommend the Skin Aqua Super Moisture Gold edition. I find that application is not as blotchy as compared to the regular one.

    The Biore Aqua Watery Essense is the one for me. The first time I tried it, I was taking my kids to float the river (2 and a half hours on reflective water). My kids applied physical sunscreen 3 times during the trip and all ended up burnt or slightly burnt. I applied Biore Aqua once and didn't even get a tan.

    Hi Michelle - I love your videos! It's great to be able to find out a bit about how products work so we can make more informed choices with skincare, especially because there's so much marketing rhetoric and misinformation out there!
    I've recently been going to a well-known cosmetologist in Melbourne to help sort out my skin, and they recommended a product which is basically an ozonated oil. A lot of the stuff I'm reading is ringing some alarm bells (things about it "detoxing," affiliations with the "drinkable sunscreen" company etc.). I was wondering if you knew anything about these and whether there's any evidence they work or not?
    Love your videos!

    • @orene7594
      @orene7594 Год назад

      @@dan0115 I've never heard of the premium one! Perhaps it's just a marketing description and is the same thing? I did notice they had two versions of face mask; basic and not basic. The not basic (premium?) had added olive oil in it. I have not tried the range with added Olive Oil. My tube was just called 'Melano CC essence'. It came in a narrow box, in a metal squeezable tube with yellow lid and fancy nozzle as she demonstrated in the video. Be careful not to buy the 'Brightening Cream'. The box looks nearly identical but it's a different product entirely.

    the anessa sunscreen is amazing for the beach. it literally feels like a layer of rubber on your face after it dries and i couldn't get it off with any cleansing oil or balm i have, only with cotton rounds, micellar water and vigorous rubbing, which makes it horrible for everyday wear but for the beach or super active days in the sun it's perfect.
