Unironically, one of the 2 scenes that are amazing at power scaling. Vegeta is absolutely toying with Cell in this scene, but when given the free punch, Cell is able to cause Vegeta to somewhat bleed. Later on, when Vegeta is given the free shot, nothing. Doesn't necessarily say that Perfect Cell is 100x 1000x or whatever people would love to use to describe the arbitrary powerscaling system, it just visually shows that Vegeta was much stronger than Imperfect Cell, but that Perfect Cell not only reverses that gap, he outscales it.
My favorite TFS Vegeta moments come from the Broly movie. When he told the soldiers to only refer to Trunks as Princess Trunks and when he got mad at Paragus for not having a king size bed. Paragus you squalid fuck is my favorite insult. I shed tears hearing it to this day, and when he found out Paragus was enslaving people and he said Paragus you’re not the shit stain if a Saiyan I thought you were.

Whether or not Trunks got stronger during the period he was in the past, he returns to the future afterwards and defeats the Cyborgs of his timeline. With 17 and 18 gone, Cell soon learns of the time machine and uses it to travel to the past so he may become ‘perfect’, after all, but was forced to wait after having to revert to his larva state in order to fit. When Cell awakens, it’s in the middle of the period Trunks is with Goku and the others hunting the 17 and 18. Cell’s interference with the timeline coupled with his defeat gave Trunks a reason to become even *stronger* while unintentionally arming him with previously-unknown knowledge of the Bio-Android. In Cell’s bid for power, he inadvertently sealed his own fate and undid Trunks’s death at his hand. He swapped out who survived and who would perish.
No joke, Chris Sabat once said in a tweet "If I die, I'm leaving Vegeta to Lanipator". When the most iconic English dub voice actor to play the character is THAT impressed by your performance, you know you're doing something right!
