  • Hi there! In this video, I share what my Monstera Adansonii looks like after combining cuttings with the mother plant about 3 months ago. Where is it sitting? How much light is it getting? How much has it grown? I cut it back all the way to the base because it was getting leggy and dropping leaves. Now, it is growing quite lush! Let me know in the comments if you have anymore questions and I'll try my best to answer them. Enjoy!

    Repotted mine in water when I noticed it way dying. Now I'm getting roots on my nods. Thanks for the tips in the other video!!!

    The Syngonium looks great! 👍
    Adansonii will send out leafless runners in search of a tree (or tree alternative) to climb.

    i'm so happy to find this series!! i'm doing spring repotting and wasn't sure how to approach my adansonii that are bare at the bottom of their vines, so i think i'm going to take this approach!! i know you used dr q's plant tonic when propping, but i cant seem to find it online. is there anything else you'd recommend to encourage root growth?

    I think she looks so good and should leave it up on that shelf. You have encouraged me to propagate and I would like to stake one plant and let the other cascade like yours.
    I noticed your shingle plant which is beautiful. I bought one about 4 months ago, I replace the board which was about 8" longer than the original and it is already growing over the top. Have you propagated yours before and I am missing the video or what do you suggest?

      I haven’t made an update video on the shingle plant yet. Shortly after, it became dormant 😰 and leaves stopped growing so I eventually pruned it and only recently it has started to grow again!

    3:11 that also happened with my dragon tail monstera ,,it is in our backyard and it's getting enough sunlight

      Hmm are you watering thoroughly? Sometimes there are patches inside of the soil that the water doesn’t get to some of the roots and that could lead to some unusual growth patterns. Not sure what else it could be!

      @@SuchPlants yes I am watering it thoroughly every 2 day and it's raining ......I discussed it with my dad he told me that it will grow without leaves for a while and at a point it will start growing leaves and it's ariel root will start going into the soil and that will be a new plant ... Basically it will reproduce

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +2

      Yes the leaves will come eventually. You can cut it back to the last leaf and that will increase the chance of growing leaves. I guess plants have minds of their own hehe 😆

      Enjoyed this, my Adonsonii in an east window is growing like crazy but the leaves are small and rather far apart. I’m now encouraged to take some cuttings to fill out the plant! I’m not sure whether to put the cuttings in water or soil, the nodes already seem to have small roots...thanks for a nice video! 🌻

    • @SuchPlants

      I find that the small aerial roots like water propagation since they have a constant supply of water. If in soil, they tend to dry and become thirsty quickly, unless you can give it lots of humidity! I hope your plant fills out nicely! ☺️

      @@SuchPlants thank you for answering, I will put them in water. Do you add diluted fertilizer or rooting hormone to the water?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +1

      I use Dr. Q’s Plant Tonic which is available in my area, but it’s basically the same thing as Superthrive which you can find in the big box stores. Then change the water once a week.

    What about the clippings from the prop box? How are they doing?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +1

      In case you missed it, I did an 11-week update with some progress on the adansonii nodes: ruclips.net/video/cJpZMGbk76M/видео.html
      I’m posting an updated houseplant tour soon where I show another update, but the adansonii nodes didn’t see much growth over the winter 🙇🏻😭

    What happened to the nodes?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  Год назад

      The nodes slowly died off. I had one or two nodes that survived and sprouted several leaves, but spider mites got to them unfortunately. I am left with the mother plant, which is super lush now! 🫣😆
