I just rescued one of these from the darkness of a big box store, and I knew Mr. Sheffield would have a video to help me care for it. It looked a little stressed because the soil was sopping wet, but it’s looking a bit better now that it’s dried out some and has some bright, indirect light.

Mine grows so fast and bushy. I have clippings on the surface of my aquariums as they grow long rots and absorb the nitrates in my tanks. No leaves in the tank, they can be poisonous if fish eat them.

I have had mine for about....well....I actually have no idea but it's been months I'm sure of that. I kept it alive all winter, now it's June 2023 and that plant is alive but NO new growth are seen anywhere. I have another one that might be a bit older and it's growing new shoots but not too fast. I think I'll try the fish liquid fertilizer. I hope I won't kill it. It's getting to the point where I need a log book on when I fertilize my plants. I do have too many.

The best tip I got for this is, that the leave surface is very reduced so it looses less water over its leaves and needs less watering! And jes, it needs less water than an equally bis plan without holes.

Mine just has one really looooooong vine growing and the leaves at the bottom are tiny, I repotted it into a larger one but it’s still just vining outward so far. My plant identification app said it was an obliqua but I knew there was no way that was correct after I did some research. I was worried I ended up with a hard to please plant, I love the way monsteras look! This video was very helpful.

Your plant is looking so great...I have 4 of these two wide form and 2 narrow form....they all struggle sadly....I do not baby them or have them in the perfect light but I hope I can make at least one of them shine....it sounds like it is all me why they are not doing so great....I did recently repotted one and put hanging next to a floor lamp with grow light that shines up....so I am looking forward to spring and it is next to a door that I keep open all summer so it will get even more north and some morning sun!! So thanks for the inspiration and we will see if I can help my four thrive!! Ok thanks for making all your videos!!!

Thanks so much for the video. I always try to comment because your channel is great and RUclips should definitely push your videos to all plant lovers. I've been admiring the adansonii for months. When my 12 year old went out with her grandfather and little sister to shop for mothers day, she stumbled upon one lonely adansonii at Walmart and recognized it! Suprise, surprise, she really DOES pay attention to what I say. Lol, I couldn't ask for more. I've been waiting to let it acclimate a bit before repotting and putting it on a pole. The past couple of days, I've noticed it getting a few water droplets on each of the leaves. Is this because it's taking in too much water? I think the soil it is in is a coir mixture and although I haven't been watering it, they may have over watered in the store....its still fairly wet. Should I mix some different potting soil in with the coir it came with to not give it too much of a shock? Or should I just start fresh with new soil all around? I've never had one before and don't want to get it wrong, I've become quite attached. Lol

A quick note on leaves that don't unfurl, which I see in the comments on this plant (and others.) I had this problem with a Diffenbachia recently. I tried giving the leaves a spray but didn't see much result. Then I moved it to a location with more light and that seems to have solved the problem. So maybe stubborn leaves is due to lack of light?

My plant started to get root rot after I tried growing it on a moss pole. My fault for not putting it in a pot with better drainage and air flow. I cleaned the roots and pot and treated the roots and cut off the ones that looked bad about a week ago but the leaves are still yellowing. It was doing so well before. Should I just try to propagate it at this point or is there something else to try?

I purchased this from my local Home Depot about a month ago. When I first got it it had a lot of new leaves that had not opened. I brought it home and sat in my office away from my other plants for about 5 days to make sure it did not have anything that would affect my other plants. The soil was good and showed no signs of root rot. However, after a week I noticed the leaves still weren’t opening. So I came to RUclips for answers. One RUclipsr said that it was an indication of a deceased plant that could not be saved and should be thrown away. Needless to say I didn’t do that, because it had some parts that looked healthy. So instead I separated it out and put part in fresh soil and some in water.. So far so good; however, the mother plant is still producing leaves that are not opening, what should I do? Any suggestions? Any advice you can provide would be deeply appreciated.
