About Turkish Airlines (from Wikipedia):
Turkish Airlines (Turkish: Türk Hava Yolları) or officially Türk Hava Yolları Anonim Ortaklığı is the flag carrier of Turkey. As of 2022, it operates scheduled services to 340 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas,[8] making it the largest mainline carrier in the world by number of passenger destinations. The airline serves more destinations non-stop from a single airport than any other airline in the world and flies to 126 countries, more than any other airline. With an operational fleet of 24 cargo aircraft, the airline's cargo division Turkish Cargo serves 82 destinations.
The airline's corporate headquarters are at the Turkish Airlines General Management Building on the grounds of Istanbul Atatürk Airport in Yeşilköy, Bakırköy, Istanbul. Istanbul Airport in Arnavutköy is the airline's main base, and there are secondary hubs at Ankara Esenboğan Airport and Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport. Turkish Airlines has been a member of the Star Alliance network since 1 April 2008.
About Boeing 787 (from Wikipedia):
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American wide-body jet airliner developed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After dropping its unconventional Sonic Cruiser project, Boeing announced the conventional 7E7 on January 29, 2003, which focused largely on efficiency. The program was launched on April 26, 2004, with an order for 50 aircraft from All Nippon Airways (ANA), targeting a 2008 introduction. On July 8, 2007, a prototype 787 was rolled out without major operating systems, and then the aircraft experienced multiple delays until its maiden flight on December 15, 2009. Type certification was received in August 2011 and the first 787-8 was delivered in September 2011 before entering commercial service on October 26, 2011, with ANA.

Yes, you could fly Emirates, Qatar, etc. on this route and I agree that Turkish keeps its European and American routes more fun/tidyö etc. However, you would probably pay double the amount for just barely better food.
There is nothing wrong with Turkish airlines, Turkish airlines offer superb service on the ground and in the air.
It's good, me airlines are better. Offering business class passengers the same quality meals as economy is unacceptable
787 is the perfect example of airlines liking it while travelers hating it especially that dimming windows being locked...
I've flown Turkish Airlines business class IAD-IST and the food was quite good and so many courses I had to tell them to stop bringing anymore food. Pod was comfortable and service was great.
So happy to hear that I booked flights on this route next spring hearing good things about the food and service. I'm doing a stopover in IST and then going to VCE.
I didn't feel like the food out of IAD was good.
I also booked this flight. The food was amazing but the seats were outdated!
@@ayushsaha7281Great on the food front sucks on the seat part. Currently my flight is scheduled to have the same seats in the video but I live in fear of an equipment swap 😖
@TheThirdoftheFifth this airline is notorious for delays, please do your research and book someone else. Signed a business class traveler.
seems like it was a positive experience and you are just nitpicking at what you can
Yes, but he gave you the context.
@@cchris874it’s not as bad as TrekyTendy, who is very difficult to satisfy.
@@leflores91 I'll have to give him a try. Josh is also very hard to please.
I'm struggling to see what the issue is. Looks like a superb product that I, as a regular business traveller, would be v happy with. Well done Turkish Airlines.
Yeah , he is saying … was good , delicious something , but his title is worst , what the heck :) , its obvious purpose is to show in bad way
@@altasfurkan it's probably because it's an economy class meal, and when compared to other airlines that operate this same route, tk is flawed.
You're not supposed to get economy meals in business class. You're not getting what you pay for.
He did explain, cheap meal, bad crew, so compare to other TK flights he has had, this one's bad.
You are struggling to understand why people have issue with being served economy class meal on a business class ticket?
Turkish can be an excellent value for money business class option on some routes, especially when booked early it can compete with a full price economy ticket on some airlines such as Emirates.
Love your videos Dan… but be mindful about promoting masterworks and linking it to sound like a smart investment in the cost of living crisis. It’s perhaps one of the most risky investments one can make, there is no clear exit or secondary market. Be mindful about not promoting companies which will take advantage of a poorly educated consumer. You have a sizeable audience, you wouldn’t want to be responsible for even a handful of them losing all their money because you wanted to get sponsorship - it’s a high risk investment, not a product or service.
Otherwise, keep up the good work.
yeah love the channel but wish he would stop taking this particular sponsorship, its bordering on fraudulent
Thanks for your comment Zack. I'm curious what makes you speak so poorly of them? I've personally invested thousands of dollars on the platform and while the long holding times can be a drawback for some, it is a legitimate investment. Googling "Masterworks IO reviews" shows you a variety of articles than support this, from Forbes to Business Insider. All pieces are secured with the SEC. Any investment carries risk, but Masterworks is definitely a legitimate company.
ruclips.net/video/6ojOkPmm8lw/видео.html
ThePlainbagel (Richard coffin) from RUclips is a CFA and CFP, he discussed the significant illiquid risks of masterworks which Dan clearly omits in his advert
Hey Dan, long time subscriber here. Love your content (can’t wait to fly a ME airline!) and have to agree with Zach. Masterworks sells something very close to an ‘investment’, yes, but it is unregulated by the SEC and in general only appropriate for people who do not need their money back or can lose all of it. Richard of The Plain Bagel did a great deep dive into it recently - check it out!
See you in the skies :)
@@ericageissman when you sign up for masterworks you have to schedule a call and basically warn you of these things (need a higher risk tolerance and don’t need the money for several years) and only then approve you, they also ask about your income and stuff
Ok, but where's the “so bad and disappointing” thing?
That’s what I was going to ask. I kept waiting for some disaster but I kept getting more and more impressed with the flight. Other than the window issue (I really don’t like it when the crew takes over the shades on the Dreamliners) and the small meal portion, all I saw was really good stuff. 😊
Did you listen to what he said?
First off, a totally darkened cabin. This crew must have forgotten how TK collects money to pay their salaries.
The seat was clumsy, dark and underwhelming.
The starter looked like a child had made it and the main course used to be served on economy two years ago.
The blanket would be called napkin in other airlines. The lack of welcome and goodbye was also way below standard, especially for a premium cabin.
Cru , seat,layout and more
@@vondahe You nailed this summary of the issues - thank you!
@@NonstopDan tbh, it was pretty decent flight, didnt see any points to frustrate….
Hey Dan! I flew a Turkish Airlines Flight from IAH To lstanbul Airport on the 777 business class. Whats weird is that it was the best flight of my life in terms of soft product. It's so strange to see you have such a bad experience every time you've flown Turkish. Anyhow, keep up the good work.
same here, Brussels to Istanbul to Manila. we had the best flight/food ever.
Dan takes pride in being an insufferable crybaby. What is his complaint about the salt and pepper shakers? If he were nicer to the crew maybe they would be more friendly.
@@peterrisbergs7156facts
This cabin dimming thing...is becoming more common....definitely adds a negative edge on a daytime flight.
Great review as always Dan!
@ 3:42, yes unfortunately this is so true, on a round trip to Instanbul from London in BizClass, there was hardly no interaction, no smiles, nothing from the crew (although the Starters and Main Course Meals were fine)
Bro, i am confused. What are you so upset about? Everything looks clean and tidy...
Dan always serves the tea we need, with just the right amount of information, drama, and shade stirred in ☕️
Can I use this as a testimonial? LOL
And topping up the drama by comparing the crew, with "the sad and lonely food" (7:10) really tops it😂😂
@@NonstopDan Absolutely!! 😄 💯
Great content as always.
flying airlines, always "self-funded".... duh, pretty sure the ad revenue from youtube pays for it
Nice report! Hopefully you get to experience the new catering service on your next flight.
Getting a hair transplant in turkery and flying from new zealand but looking at my options for flying business class.. i had never heard of oman air before and was hesitant but after watching reviews of other youtubers they are definitely high above the rest of the options! And an all day menu is an added bonus!
I've been on a 13 hr flight in economy back in the early 2000s this guy can cry me a river 😂😂😂😂
Love these ❤❤
An informative video. Last week Turkish Airlines handed out to us almost the exact amenity kit on a long haul economy flight!
that collection of bags are only for business class and have 6 different design. contents might be close but the bags are the point.
Nonstop Dramaqueen🎉
..., and you seem a bit bitter. Wish I could help you.
@Niklas Seljemo maybe you should help Dan instead, he seems a lot more bitter...
@@travellercph4106 He doesnt need help. If he is not satisfied he is open about that, but it doesnt mean he is bitter. If you dont like him you just dont have to watch his videos.
Turkish Airlines is one of my favorite airlines 👍
Nice flight review.
Let's remember with his reviews, he reviews what the flight is, not what it is compared to an economy class. Compare them to the AMAZING other airlines in the area, such as Qatar or Emirates, and you see why he says to not fly this route. Keep up the great reviews Dan! Also... maybe review the JetBlue Mint Business Class from JFK--->Paris!
Turkish is flying from Detroit now. I’m looking at their business product to Italy versus delta premium select. Watching your video it looks like this is way nicer than premium select on delta.
one reason i avoid 787 is the autoblind i personally think it should be the passenger who pays a lot of money choice to open or close the blinds many airlines crews likes to make that choice for us in which i do not agree
Hey Dan, the video is only 360p, can u please upload it again, thankss
Glad I’m not the only one!! I thought my app suddenly broke

@@duditon1 sameeee

@@part_icular its been almost 3 hours since the video got uploaded... 💀
Everything is avoid this avoid that... You need to stop living to standards from other airlines and see it for what it is. Also, 1 flight doesn't mean avoid the airline
About three years ago I flew Canada Air from PHX to FRA and they locked the windows. THat's the reason why I avoid the Dreamliner like the plaque. I realize now that that is not mandatory, but back then I thought that was a Dreamliner thing since it was fairly new (to me) at the time.
Hey Dan, thanks for the video. I was looking to fly their 787 to Istanbul next month, after I had two wonderful flights with them from Ulaanbaatar to IST to Miami this past week [A330/B777]. Both were daytime flights in their older business class seats. I generally prefer the newer business class seats airlines offer nowadays, but, I was surprisedly not bothered by the older seats, including the 2-2-2/2-3-2 configuration. It was my first time flying them long-haul. I recently flew them short-haul in Europe in business, and they were very good flights. With that said, like you, I was very unhappy when they closed the window shades on both long-haul daytime flights. I mean, that's why they give out eye shades...right? When I do get a window seat, like you, I love to look out the window...it would not have been allowed on these two flights. Also, the plane was so hot on both flights. Anyway, I will likely fly them again when I go to Tajikistan, as the service/food has generally been pretty good.
I forgot to mention...although IST is beautiful, it's a horrible airport...too much walking, not enough seats, long taxi times, and no seats in the business class lounges. Wish they could somehow improve these deficiencies.
Omg how is it that I have missed seeing you twice at the same airport when I was there on the same date and time as you🤣. I'm a huge fan
this guy seems like the type to recline his chair in economy on a long haul flight
HELP-
How are you meant to sleep without reclining the chair??? The recline function is there for a reason,
what's wrong with that? lmao u've obviously never flown before
What are you frustrated about?
their policy to get a free hotel says something else but when you get in the hotel desk all a sudden the policy changes they used to offer hotel layovers for free back in the days when they used to operate in istanbul ataturk since they moved to new airport the quality of the airline decreased. its now almost like low cost airline for example almost like flydubai kinda vibes. you need to pay for seats if u want reserve in advance this didn't even exist
This is why I try to avoid 787’s. I should be able to look out of the window if I want to.
I love despite your best efforts people can see how the experience was leagues above the middle east standart.
Isn't it illegal to dim window shades durong takeoff and landing? If anything, they should lock it on the lowest setting
Personally turkish airlines is my personal favorite airline dont forget turkish airlines is still pretty good and its prices are very good compared to emarets or qatari
I’ve taken that route many times in economy. the only time I favor Turkish when I’m not traveling light. Turkish has higher baggage allowance than emirates
Interesting perspective - that's a good consideration!
Can definitely attest to inconsistent service depending on which flight you take
Bro should be glad that he is not flying economy
Isn’t unfair to call the crew like their hate their jobs? Maybe Their just exhausted or whatever it maybe has a reason I get ur point but their also just humans u know?
Something similar happened to me too on my flight with lot polish airlines flight from WAW-BOM
Thanks man
He looks so different without his glasses! Thumbs Up!!!!!
Overall, still a very good experience considering the redemption with their frequent flyer program. Thanks for sharing!
Dan! Great video, I love your content :) You should try to speak a little native language with the flight attendants next time you can. I'm sure a few would love it. A Japanese FA I had on my flight over there had such fun with it. Look forward to your next video, Nate.
You know what is interesting is that I only fly business/first class and I am more concerned with the size of the seat. I am 6ft2in, 245lbs, I need width and length here, I don't care about mirrors, charging stations or storage space. I'd rather have more seat space. That is what these airlines need to do, make the seats wider and the storage smaller.
Has he or any other travel vlogger used the Turkish Airlines stopover program? I can't find any good examples of it but it seems to good to be true. Up to 3 nights free at a 5 star hotel in Istanbul? I'd love to see non-stop Dans review of it!
I love ya Dan, but I think way to many folks get lost in the weeds in these travel vids. I for one am thrilled to only have to spend x amount of hours in a seat rather than being forced to take a train, boat or bus the same distance. All you are really doing by paying more for a first or business or premium economy seat is getting more space to yourself.
Food, amenities, working power connections, wifi are all negotiable perks from an airline. When they do well, they may spend more for customer retention, when things are slow, kinda like a global recession things get stingy. So that being said, yeah its a pain, but considering the alternatives its not so bad in the grand scheme of things. Cheers
But I think his channel is comparing it to other airline alternatives
Turkish Airlines is an airline company that stands out worldwide with its excellent service quality and exceptional customer satisfaction. With its comfort, safety standards, and flawless service approach, it offers passengers an unforgettable experience. Turkish Airlines, with its extensive destination network, modern fleet, and innovative approach, is not just an airline company but also a leader transforming the travel experience. Anticipating the needs of its passengers and constantly redefining industry standards, it provides an experience that makes you say "wow" on every journey. Turkish Airlines is not just an airline you fly with, but a travel companion that makes your journey unforgettable.
dan i gotta be real with you man, the masterworks sponsor wasnt really done well i dont think using the cost of living crisis that is very much affecting millions of people as a segue into a sponsorship that you are directly benefitting from is the right message to send even if you didn't mean it. furthermore I understand your comments about the underwhelming crew service, but I feel like due to the recent natural disaster in the country and other national events may have led to a higher downturn to their already fragile economy leading to reductions within the overall service. i don't know about this one man :/
Had similar issue in TK, flew business FRA to IST which was fantastic. I was suppose to be on another flight to Saudi with them, but that was another fiasco. So I end up flying to DXB on red eye in economy in a A350, and that was horrible.
Don’t expect economy to be a premium cabin like it’s just a profit maker for airlines.😊
The dimming windows, the exact reason why I prefer not flying the 787s
I remember you going in the same route but in the boeing 777
17000 points for 5hr in business... thats a really good deal. I cant even get a single domestic flight in thr US for those low points...
Great video
Where may I find those seat maps you show in your videos? Greetings from Mexico.
My only experience of the cabin crew dimming all the windows was on Air India in 2016. Unfortunately, I did not realize to ask the cabin crew to unlock my window and I'm unsure if the crew would have obliged even if I had asked. This is also one of the reasons why I am not the biggest fan of the Dreamliners overall: at least you can control your window on the other widebodies!
Oh no that's so frustrating! Sorry that happened😩
Well 787 are not very good I didnt flown a 787 but from the reviews show its not that good.
Gonna try out the airline but in economy and hopefully avoid flying on the 787 (MID-liner)
My experience of a Dubai departure was not yours. The airport was packed to the gills. Huge wait times for bathrooms, in coffee shops and indeed EVERYWHERE. It was a struggle just to get to the gate on time, and we were early. Every seat, chair, even the floors, [especially in or near the gates] was packed with people trying to sleep or rest. And this is not a rare experience. It was even worse than at Heathrow in London, when the computers went down for 12 hours, and everything had to be done manually. Outside of hotels or other building Dubai was super hot, and the air was full of fine desert dust. As someone who has spent years in the Australian outback in the heat of summer, I know what heat is like. Dry heat and humid heat like in Singapore, where I also lived for years. Nothing like Dubai when I was there.
I will never route through Dabai again if I can avoid it. The food was great in the hotel, but that is about it. They also tend to insult any female companions. My wife had the passports as I struggled with most of the luggage, but the hotel staff would not talk to her, and would only address me. I understand cultural differences, but bigotry is bigotry, and if they expect international travelers, then they should at least behave when interacting with them with respect, and international norms. International terminals and the hotels that service them should not push their misguided culture onto others, if they expect to do business with them.
Ahhh you’re the one who always opens the bloody window :-) hahah! In all seriousness they shouldn’t have been so draconian about it.
they werent, they unlocked it on request.
@@vitushoffmann7890 thanks for your reply “Dan”
Has HD not processed yet?
I flew turkish from SFO to Istanbul a couple years ago and loved their business class. Tho the customer service was considerably better going there than coming back, not sure why. But loved being able to get unlimited booze especially the Raki from Turkey. Food was good and well presented. Bed was comfy.
I wish I could remember what plane we had
It was a 777. A couple years ago Tk didn’t have Dreamliners and only 777 had sfo flights.
@NonstopDan gosh, 360p?! It's like RuPaul's Drag Race season 1 filter
I have been looking at a Turkish Air business flight and seriously wondering if it is worth it. I have had a horrific experience with Lufthansa! Nightmarish!! Anyhow, I don't want to have another horrible trip so thanks for your video.
bro says that its his "worst" turkish airlines flight even most of the damn video had positive things.
Hi Dan! I always watch your videos and find them really entertaining. I recently also bought a flight with Iberia to visit my family whom I haven't seen in 5 years. Unfortunately after my payment, the ticket was never issued by Iberia and they refuse to refund me. I was wondering if you (or any other reader) ever had such an experience and whether you have any advice on the matter. I usually do not react but I am getting quite desperate. Thank you in advance for reading my comment and keep up the good work!
Why do passengers from North America pay 20-40 percent more in airfare going to Europe or Asia? It's basically the same route, the same plane and the same service. If passengers purchase a round trip ticket originating from Asia or Europe going to North America is 20-40 percent cheaper, sometimes 60% on economy tickets. North Americans have to shoulder the load always???
I also fly with Turkish Arline Warsaw Istanbul Marrakech ! I have noticed that the crew is not focused on customer service but instead lets done the job fast ! To me looks like they short of staff ! They were on hurry all the time ? I was surprise as Turkish people are very nice and they so good with hospitality service ! Make this worse Turkish Arline cancel my flight from Marrakech and they had no place for my return flight until Two weeks ! I have to buy new ticket and return with different Arline to Warsaw ! I did receive apology letter but never return my money !
Does Turkish Airlines has a licitation for a business class?
When I flew THY' s business on the a330 from IST to FRA the Internet didnt work for me😢
more often than not this is normal on turkish airlines :D
Please, can someone let Dan know, that he is „half swede“ or and not „half Sweden“. I doubt that he is half of the country Sweden 😅
At least SQ have the decency to only use these same densely packed seats on their medium haul routes up to 8hr max
Do you have to call to book 2 seats? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it online.
I flew on Economy in the 787-9 for 13 hours. It was good. That’s all.
Looks good to me.
"I think I know why I remember this meal cuz I had it before" like no shit 💀
Seat looks pretty much the same as medium haul flights on Singapore Airlines 787's.
The window locking issue is becoming a major issue for many airlines so I hope it gets removed
my dad works at turkish airlines as a 777 - 787 pilot
you drink the coffee of the planes?? 😂 haven’t you heard that that’s the most dirty drink ever? 😂
why is it 360p
360p quality Dan?? Did something go wrong dude?
It’s a five hours flight and what’s been provided was excellent and up to the mark. Not sure why there was a complaint such a bad title ? Branding your videos are good for your own shake but damaging an Airline is not good. Be a fair reviewer and not bad reviewer to damage any business and end of the day you are just a traveler.
Why the quality is so low ?
These flights carry low budget European travelers connecting in Istanbul and few vacationing Dubai residents. Business travelers no doubt take emirates.
hi can u try air france la premiere? that would so good if u could do so
Hi Dan, in your opinion, what's the cheapest, but best way to cross the Atlantic Ocean between any European city and New York?
Manchester to New York Aer Lingus for £400.
LGW to JFK FlyNorse, starts around 250£ without addons
I took a Turkish airlines flight from Ukraine to Istanbul that bounced three times on its landing.
I flew on 787-9 in business to Kuala Lumpur. I could not sleep one minute in this new seat. You must be small in height, but for me, in the flat bed position I felt like in a coffin. Compared to the large business seat on 777 this was a big disappointment.
I would cry to get economy meal in business
Turkish doesn't even offer a long-haul meal service on flights to India as well - which could be up to almost 7 hours. It's just an upgraded economy meal with a few bits and pieces extra.
My thinking when competition is so far ahead like in the India routes against Emirates , or when there is no real competition they don’t even try, they just focus on economy. Or maybe just offer low cost business.
Wow that's sad to hear!
360p is a bit wild to be fair
Your headline does not match the review..I think it's doing turkish a bit injustice
it seems that Turkish hasnt come back from the cost cutting of the last 3 years but at least its served on actual china. Excellent video as always Dan!
