Thank you for the excellent video! this is the best most concise information I’ve received in three days of googling for an answer. My Chevy dealer has reset it twice for free however three or four days later the engine light shows up again. He told me 449 was a code for the sensor and that I could just buy one and put it on myself or they could do it. My particular 2009 Silverado had some sort of governor on it to where it’ll never let me go over 100 miles an hour. Interestingly, or coincidentally the engine light always shows up when I hit 100 miles an hour and a slight stalling sensation occurs. Not sure if this is a clue or just weirdness. What think you?
I got a p0449 code. Replaced the evap solenoid(definitely was bad). Code came right back after deleting code. Replaced gas cap with new GM cap and now the code doesn't come back until I remove gas cap for refueling. Canister bad? 2005 chevy Colorado. Any help would be appreciated.
i think i have the same, but i havent done the vent job yet. let me know if you figured it out and maybe save me replacing something that doesnt need it lol.
Great video. I can only put in like $8 before gas spills out. The gas station pump nozzle not clicking. But I don't know why my gas tank is refusing to accept more fuel? I've checked all hoses and charcoal canister. Everything is intact. My gas gauge is always showing full. Can a bad gas pump and sending unit be the culprit?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
I have an 07 Yukon, started noticing strong gas fumes, sometimes acting up when cranking after it’s been ran, then it’s an absolute nightmare to put gas in it. Takes forever. First thing I did was change the purge valve, then replaced charcoal canister, and blew out the lines. As my luck would have it, trying to put gas it in is still a a pain. At first the fumes went away, after driving it a few times, they are back and it still acts up after a warm start. HELP!!!!! I am going insane!!!!! I don’t think this really matters, but my Yukon is cammed and tuned etc, surely that has zero to do with my issue/issues. ANY help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
That is a common system of a bad vent valve. I believe the vent valve is separate from the charcoal canister in that year of Yukon. It may also be the wiring going to the vent valve. It all needs to be tested and diagnosed to know the issue.
Would it be a clue that the only issue the code causes, other than the CEL staying on, is it doesn't start very well, but only after I get gas...? '12 Impala
Well I'm off to check mine out just got the code. 2011 hyundai sonata 2.0. Wish me luck. But I've been meaning to ask you about your cars extended warranty?😂
just now watching this , what I hate is the "it COULD BE ..." phrase .. buying all these parts and the problems be still there .. no different than the bodies we walk in .. never a definite cure or fix lol im now seeing if I can do this replacement by myself ..
It is best to test the parts first before replacing them. Here is a link to a video about all the components and how to test them. ruclips.net/video/C5s3Rx3wjD0/видео.html
It's funny my 07 suburban has a aftermarket stereo that does obd clearing the truck throws the code when the outside temperature is above freezing. If I clear it below 32° it stays cleared until the ambient rises above freezing. Then it throws the code.
Many people claim it without ever experiencing it. In fact this question is often if not, always asked by somebody who doesn’t have that experience, but its just a clanging gong in the town hall, a.k.a. poser!!
The #1 best diagnostic video on this issue...thank you 😎👍🏾
There's absolutely no way I can not remedy this code myself now.
The most in depth, to the point video I've found. Appreciate the content. 01 Yukon has me chasing an evap leak ghost..
The best video to fix something. Gets to the point and very through.. EXCELLENT...
If you have an Isuzu NPR (Chevy 6L engine) this is the problem too. Changed out both solenoid for a piece of mind and no more engine code.
Awesome value here and excellent description of system. Well done man thanks for keeping it simple and no bs
Dude great video I have 04 chevy silverado and need help😊
Thanks. Terrific video.

Great video!! just had that check engine light pop up and did a diagnostic and got this code.

I made a video describing and checking all the main EVAP components. Here is a link. ruclips.net/video/C5s3Rx3wjD0/видео.html

That is a common symptom when the vent valve is stuck shut. The vent valve is usually located in the charcoal canister or very close to it.
Great troubleshooting video....thanks!
Perfect video, Thanks man !
Dude this was excellent!

Brilliant, thankyou
Excellent video. /cheers
Does this code usually throw a p0455 as well? Large evap leak

Purge valve in the engine bay
@@myb6862 that's what it was. I got it swapped
@@charlieyeager3645 awesome glad to hear it!

Would it make your check engine light flash?
A flashing engine light is usually a SERIOUS problem. Get that checked asap.
Could the issue for this code ever be derived from the ECM not sending a turn on signal to the vent solenoid?
Yes, an open wire that doesn't send the signal to the vent valve will cause issues.
Does it hurt to drive it when this happens ?
Usually, no; if the purge valve is stuck open, it can affect the engine, but usually, it just won't pass an emission test.
@HVAC_Mechanic Thanks !!
Good job

One very important question is do you know JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR?
Many people claim it without ever experiencing it. In fact this question is often if not, always asked by somebody who doesn’t have that experience, but its just a clanging gong in the town hall, a.k.a. poser!!
Amen
Be quiet, I'm trying to fix my God damn car
