I’m a huge fan of the AK rifle. I love my AKs better than my M4/AR. The AK is art compared to M4. I have Polish, Bulgarian, Serbian, and Romanian variants and they are all awesome. I just dream about being able to get a Russian Kalash without having to sell my house! Love and respect from your fellow gun dude here in North Carolina 🇺🇸
@@slappy8941 Takes a few years owning a shot gun, paperwork and tests and the usual bullshit. But after that, you can own center fired rifles including civilian AK's Tigers and other fun stuff. No led bullet pistols though. Against my American pro gun stance, I can say that with no pistols here in Saint Petersburg, I have never heard a single gun shot in the 3 years of living in a 6 million + city. Aside form the long wait to be able to get a rifle in Russia, they seem to have a well balance culture here. But, then again if you were to get caught with an illegal gun or commit a gun crime here in Russia you wouldn't see the light of day for the rest of your life so that might also be the reason for such a contrast. (Am American/Russian Citizen).

Jim decked out my Sam 7 AK years ago. Went through Haley’s D5 AK class with Jim as well and it changed all my preconceived notions about the AK. It is now my favorite rifle in the safe!
He also worked on my SLR-95 (basically older version of the SAM7 from the mid 1990s) back in 2011. It’s the smoothest shooting 7.62x39 rifle I have ever shot.

I strongly believe we need to support American AK's! I just bought my first AK, a PSA AK47 GF5! I'm proud I was able to buy a gun 100% built in America by Americans! The more we support American companies like PSA and KUSA, the better our AK's will be in the near future!
Bad news from the future bud. KUSA is dead and gone, and PSA still can't get it right judging on the PSAK103 I bought. This things a disaster with pretty much zero resale value.
What ever mods you think you need to do to your AK... always make sure you can still run the cleaning rod. Keeping the rifle balanced should be your top priority. Which obviously is the first thing you do before trying to look cool.
Jim built my AKS74URD and it’s a beast I love it I’ve got almost 8k rounds through it and I run an ultimak that has an aimpoint t2 and a surefire m340 pro on top with a KAG grip on the bottom that’s my favorite AK and I have quite a few AKs stick with the top people like Jim Fuller and Fuller Phoenix if you want a rifle that’s going to be effective and last a lifetime because as you hopefully train you’ll begin to grow into your AK. I have an AK103 Izhmash clone that works great. Thousands of rounds and very few problems. I have a zenitco b30/31 rail combo up front and plan to get an Eotech EXPS3 after trying many many optics. Great russian gun would trust my life to in a fight.
I recommend building a AK reciever from scratch if got the technical know how (I did), and then adding parts to fit what you want out of the gun. You can go cheapo chrome or long lasting nitride on your barrel. Etc etc it really helps with cost and adding price adjustments where you can stretch performance while cutting some corners elsewhere on little things. I've seen dirt cheap builds Function all day every day. Mine is around 1000$ end of the day because I went with drop in trigger and nice modern rail system up front and nitride.
The only modification an AK needs is maybe a girl's name carved into the forearm with a bayonet, and some notches on the stock. Anything else is an affront to God.
Until now. Jim I honestly never new the ak was left handed friendly. It always appeared differently than that. That's the primary reason I stayed away from them
I have a PSA GF3 with the Magpul sidefolder stock, Texas weapons systems bravo mount with a Holosun 503, Ultimack rail, Surefire M600 scout pro and a Troy flash hider... It's not super cool but I have 2000+ rounds through it and it's been pretty nice so far 🙂
Same, my GF3 is around the same round count and still going great. Ive beat her up, broke the rear iron sights off. Replaced with surplus russian leaf sight. Have a gf5 too but not many rounds through it, with all the issues PSAs have been having i made sure to buy surplus firing pins. Now im ordering polish bolt carriers and bolt, will headspace them. I am seeing deformation in my bolt carrier and lug on bolt on the gf3. Is not causing any issues but is a sign of the metal not being done right. They are way over gassed which is fine but toning that down sure helps with damage as well.
I bought the PSA AK-103 and GF5. I know they aren't exact 103's or AK-47's but they are still quality builds with modern innovation in reference to barrel, trigger, trunnion, etc.. Until Izmash - Kalashnikov Concern can import whole rifles to the US or builds a manufacturing plant in the US I'm fine with Palmetto State Armory. I also have a virgin unconverted Russian Saiga so to all the AK snobs I have the closest thing to the real deal that you can legally have.
Exactly. I'm kinda an AK purist but I decided to try out PSA's 103 and was pleasantly surprised. They really don't deserve the hate they get from the snobs. I've beaten the hell out of the 103 and it's still going.
