enjoyed listening to this ive recently started singing again over Christmas. sitting down to sing for web cam although not the best. thanks for the video subscribed, have a happy new year
A great sample of vocal fry was Robert Goulet amazing sound in all his vocal range. Some singers have their vocal resonance more pronounced than others its dependent on the facial cavity, but you can improve your resonance using the lower sound like erute and start from that note doing scale of third up and down trying to maintain the same erute sound in the upper notes and after repeated 20 or 30 time the same scale up and down you gonna notice some changes in the sound a little forward and more resonance in your face mask
Muy buena explicacion y muy buen ingles. Yo soy tenor y en las mañanas mu voz es un poco mas profunda, asi que me gusta jugar a Crooning. Segun entiendo lo que dices aquí, eso no es recomendable?
Good video.I sing lead in Barbershop. We dont have any use for fry.we are always trying for those magic overtones.Ive heard some vocal coaches say fry can help the voice too repair after a long session of singing ,you seem to say it could damage or hinder the upper range.
Hello there!!! Well vocal fry is considered by many voice doctors a sign of vocal health. What is really vocal fry? Vocal fry is the simplest of vocal fold vibration and thus it can help repair coordination of damaged golds or its function thereof. Uses? Well to be honest, vocal fry is an element present through out the entire range. It basically “zips up” the vocal folds for voice production. A more direct use would be as I explain in the vid: Voice coloring and lower register. As with everything: Abusing anything could be damaging. In the case of vocal fry I very much doubt that It could be damaging, but hey! Everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion. This is an old video and an old channel: if you are looking for more in depth vocal tips try: @Melocchimaster. Enjoy Barbershop! It is fun! Greetings!!!
Awesome, I have just one question. The placement for crooning requires a raised soft palate? On Sinatra's book(Tips for popular singing) he mentions a forward position and I'm not sure if that means using the nasal passages or the pharynx pharyngueal
Thank you for your kind comment. As for crooning goes, “forward position” or “forward resonance/twang” should not be confused with “forward placement”, the difference being that a forward resonance is but a color ( pleasant in fact in Marcello Del Monaco’s words ) rather than a form of voice production. If too much emphasis is placed onto achieving this resonance , the soft palate will indeed collapse and thus emission will be hindered. The pharynx is the primary resonator and should be “open” at all times. Failure to do so will impede phonation. Once voice production is free, one can “color the voice at will”. Crooning is achieved thanks to the implementation of the microphone, thus being able to whisper if you may and creating a very mellow pleasant tone. However, this sound must be supported on the air at all times for it to fully vibrate in the desired resonances. It is very hard to describe this in writing(Therefore I am not very keen on singing books ). I have long had the idea of recording a video on “crooning”, I shall do it shortly. Sinatra’s book is interesting .. but yet.. a book after all. Greetings.
You know what you're talking about. Thanks for the video.
