Perhaps Pages’ most endearing feature. It worked for me long before I found out how to control it. That’s my idea of perfect software design. On all the time, never a problem.
Hi Gary, does Pages allow you to multi select deferent words and make changes to them at once yet? I stopped using pages years ago because it wouldn’t allow me to.
Is it possible to place a guide at a specific place by typing in the number, e.g., place a guide at 127.6 mm without attempting to move the mouse by fractions to get the guide in the exact spot you want?
If you want it to be part of the same document and your document is a Word Processing one, then you'll need to stick to Word Processing. Just make that a new section at the start of the document and ignore the body text when adding your page elements. Otherwise, if it is a one-page standalone document, switch to Page Layout mode to make it easier.
@@macmost OK. Thanks for that. It is a stand-alone project as I've already formatted the book. I'll need to add some text to the back (it's for a paperback) but I reckon I'll work that out. I honestly had no idea I could do this in Pages. And I've been using it for years! I'll definitely be viewing more of your videos.
@@macmost you can group rows of a spreadsheet by right clicking on the line number then “create group for these rows”. It’s not very intuitive so thought you might know the best way to manage it.
@@tonygoodin5099 Ah, that's Category Groups. I thought you mean grouping together objects like shapes and text boxes. I did a video on Categories a long time back. ruclips.net/video/qgU-zzNdku0/видео.html What are you trying to do, exactly?
How would a single cell have a different width than the rest of the cells in that column? Maybe you just want the content to continue to the right (and cover the next cell if it is blank)? Or maybe you want to merge two cells? Either of those are possible.
@@theaimschooldalazakroadpes7832 You can't. All cells in a column have the same width in that column. You can either merge the cell with the one next to it, or just have the cell's text overwrite the contents of the cell next to it providing there is nothing in the next cell. At least you can do that in Numbers. Not sure about Pages so try it and see.
No matter what your video is about I ALWAYS learn something from each one of them. You do a great job.
totally agree on this, even when i think you know the subject material gary teaches me something
I didn't know how powerful Pages was until this video. Thank you Gary!
Always learning from you. Thank you.

really informative video! thanks a lo
I had to bookmark this one; LOTS of new information to me. Thanks!
Thank you so much that really help me.
thank you so much! I learnt a lot from you😀
Thank you 🎉 I was looking for the vertical ruler❤❤❤❤
Hi, is it possibile to use the "align" button in the disposition tab in order to align object automatically to the guides or the text margins?
No, just drag and it should snap to the margins.
Hi, thanks for the video. I placed several guides, but when I go under 'View', 'Edit Page Templates' it is greyed out. Any suggestions? Thanks
Sounds like you are in Word Processing more, not Page Layout mode.
You are making my first week in MacOS a real smooth transition.
This was SO HELPFUL!!! Subscribed! :-) Can't wait to watch more and learn. Thank you!

use Styles for that. much better because you can change later without nearly as many steps. ruclips.net/video/7t9A_sYkAEY/видео.html
@@macmost Thank you. I watched the video. It does not seem as easy as Microsoft Word but I will work on it tonight. Thanks again
Thank you for this video! I found what I needed 1:42 in when you featured the tip on how to turn off snapping. Bam! Problem solved!
Is there any way of applying the persistent guides to every page in the document? I can't find a way of seeing/using the guys on every page of a doc.
Yes. Just put the guides on the page template, not the individual page.

No, I don't think so.
I'm trying to create a book cover. Should I create it in Word Processing mode or Page Layout mode? Or does it matter?

Great video Gary. Can you do one for groups in Numbers ?
Groups? What do you mean?

Can I disable the snap to guide function?
Yes, in Pages, Settings, Rulers, use the two "Show guides at" checkboxes. Or, just hold Command down while dragging to ignore them temporarily.
Hi, is it possible to view two documents in pages side by side?
Just open up each document in its own window and place them how you like. You can also use Split View.
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! 👏🏻❤️
Hello sir how to increase or decrease the width of a specific cell I mean just a single cell in Pages?

Can someone tell me how to remove left guidelines on pages
Guidelines you added? Drag them to the left until they are gone.
