‘Common Sense’: Alex Murdaugh Killed His Wife and Son to Save Himself, Prosecutor Says

- Prosecutor John Meadors pressed the jury to convict Alex Murdaugh of murdering his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. “It’s common sense,” Meadors repeated throughout the intense rebuttal closing arguments while pointing out every reason the jury should believe the disgraced lawyer killed his wife and son. “Thank God for Bubba,” Meadors announced explaining that Murdaugh was caught lying about being with his family at the kennels before they were shot to death.

It’s amazing to me that there are people who think he’s innocent after watching this trial. But then there are also people who believe OJ is innocent. Lots of ignorant and gullible people out there, I guess. But this one is pretty obvious to anyone with any common sense.
I think it’s obvious, but I also think the state is doing a poor job of erasing reasonable doubt for the jury. We have access to way more information than the jury does, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few wanted to let him walk.
Our country swims in ignorance unfortunately.
Doesn't prove a motive beyond a reasonable doubt
I mean the only question to ask is how much of a coincidence it would be for some rando to show up at the perfect time to kill Paul and Maggie? AM is the only one who knew they were at kennels c'mon no random person would show up and pull off the perfect murders there is no way that's a coincidence AM KNEW they were at kennelsM!! No one else was just going to show up and take a chance, so ignorance is rampid!!!
@@mariemurphy2748 it truly is amazing just how ignorant and gullible some people are. 🤦🏼
At this point, Alex is GUILTY beyond even UNreasonable doubt!
He will end up using a rope to free his mental anguish .. once in jail
The preponderance of evidence convicted him.
I don't think the state proved unreasonable doubt. But the jury bought it. Worked out in the end. He is set up for an attempt at an appeal.
Yes did u see Alex face while this prosecutor is talking it’s a look of hate like shut up you telling the truth on me. I bet if Alec had access to gun he would have shot this dude here n court. If Alec can annihilate his own family imagine what he would do to a stranger!!
There is no more critical piece of evidence against Alex than lying about being at the kennels.
There is absolutely ZERO reason for him to do that other than guilt.
Agreed. When he lied, the time of death had not been determined yet. HE KNEW.
@@BMotz-ym1fn it says they didn’t ask about it until way later. That’s all it says.
If his paranoia is so easiliy triggered, makes me wonder if something Maggie or Paul said also triggered his paranoia. Maybe one, or both, ridiculed his drug habbit or something...triggering rage, not paranoia.

Just remember the Stephen Smith murder investigation NOW
He lied about being at the kennels at the time or approximate time that the murders occurred before a timeline was even given. How did he know to lie about the time he wasn’t down at the kennels if that’s the time they were killed and no one knew what time they had been killed yet? Guilty!
Did he ever explain why he took a shower and got rid of the clothes he checked for PAW PAWs pulse in? Idk about you, but taking a shower and changing clothes would be the LAST thing I'd be doing, considering there is a killer, who I JUST missed, who just blew my wife and son away somewhere on my property.
Agreed. He was showering to wash the blood off himself probaly. If he had it on the clothes he was wearing when shots were fired, then he most likely had it on him
Meme Man: Definitely Agree!!
Such a cruel man. Killed wife and Son not out of hate/ in a moment of madness, just to save his career and to cover up mistakes at profession. I guess prosecution would ask for death penalty.
Agree. He gives me the chills. His eyes are as dark as the ones of buster. Tears ... I mean: REAL tears are not a strength of this family. The witnesses have cried more tears over the dead people than this evil EVIL man.
I think the death penalty was of the table... I remember reading, 2 months ago that the prosecution won't seek the death sentence
They chose not to pursue the death penalty.
It’s really too bad the Death Penalty is off the table, a.m. is certainly a person deserving of that fate.
@Tracey Hall-Green ha yes!!!! Shark eyes!!!☠️

There is no reason for him lying unless he did something really really bad.
He did something really really bad, he murdered Maggie and Paul
Yep. That’s the bottom line reality
Lying about not being at the kennels was the nail in his coffin IMO .
Buster got a lesson, today, from Mr. Meadors that he's never received from his own father regarding our power of choice and accountability for our bad, in some cases, horrible choices. He's never heard about humbling one's self and taking ownership of the wrong one has done, and that is a shame!

...or be found 'in the road' with a head injury .......
Many jury vote guilty because they are afraid of represareis
Wow, Alec looks like he’s going to implode…
I feel bad for the family of Mallory, the poor girl who was killed by the son in the boating crash, her family will never get true justice and restitution
They got some revenge. The got him and his mom. Make no mistake, these killing for that. This trial is smoke and mirrors. We locals KNOW.
And the son's of the housekeeper who died on his property - Murdaugh literally filed a life insurance claim on her and stole the money for himself.
That poor housekeeper and her sons needed that money her sons were pitiful on the stand her son deserves that money you never even thought about that
@@nielgregory108 you think it was the vigilantes?
This truly beautiful girl (she was beautiful inside & out) will NEVER walk the earth again; will not marry, will not have kids, will not embrace her parents and (watching the docu over the boat-accident) the son of his father: he smiled ... and one person at the scene said: "Don't you know who this is ? ... this is Paul, Alex Murdaugh's son" ... and paupau knew that nothing will happen to him.
If I was accused of murdering my spouse and my child and I was innocent, my demeanor would be one of outrage. I'd be thrown out of the courtroom! I just couldn't sit through the false narrative that is created. Go figure.
Yeah I would be going freaking crazy, I could not sit still
It is almost impossible for people who are not narcissistic to understand someone who is. But there are two cases in the west right now of people who murdered their children. People kill their spouses all the time for reasons they justify in their mind. If people were out for revenge, they would have taken Alex out too and Buster out for supplying the ID to Paul that allowed him to continue to drink and drive that boat that killed that poor girl. Alex had the most to gain.
100%
Facts….
Right-there is no “logic” or reason for them. The minds of addicts and narcissists process the world differently.

If he's truly not guilty he had bad, bad karma.
Being accused of theft by his firm the same day his family gets killed, the murder weapons being the same as what Murdaughs' owned, owning a weapon that shoots 300 blackout which is not a real common caliber, going to visit at the kennels and being recorded, leaving his phone at the house when he goes to the kennel, leaving at or near the same time as the murders, speeding up driving past where Maggies phone was found, being seen with the blue raincoat with gun residue inside it, telling the housekeeper the wrong times, offering to help pay for the housekeepers wedding after his firm let him know they caught his thefts, forgetting to tell SLED about being at the kennel, in September his firm lets him know of the extent of what they have found and the next day he arranges a supposed hit on himself, claiming he had a $50,000 a week opioid addiction when those pills on the street are only $1
That's a lot of bad karma for an innocent man.

With everything that goes into a criminal trial…what is the reasoning with just one person hanging a jury??
Because jurors have to be unanimous in order to convict after they’ve all heard the same evidence. There can be no doubt left in each juror’s mind. If one juror says not guilty then there was doubt. So they try again w a new jury.
