‘Common Sense’: Alex Murdaugh Killed His Wife and Son to Save Himself, Prosecutor Says

- Prosecutor John Meadors pressed the jury to convict Alex Murdaugh of murdering his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. “It’s common sense,” Meadors repeated throughout the intense rebuttal closing arguments while pointing out every reason the jury should believe the disgraced lawyer killed his wife and son. “Thank God for Bubba,” Meadors announced explaining that Murdaugh was caught lying about being with his family at the kennels before they were shot to death.

At this point, Alex is GUILTY beyond even UNreasonable doubt!
He will end up using a rope to free his mental anguish .. once in jail
The preponderance of evidence convicted him.
I don't think the state proved unreasonable doubt. But the jury bought it. Worked out in the end. He is set up for an attempt at an appeal.
Yes did u see Alex face while this prosecutor is talking it’s a look of hate like shut up you telling the truth on me. I bet if Alec had access to gun he would have shot this dude here n court. If Alec can annihilate his own family imagine what he would do to a stranger!!
He didn't count on cell phone data and OnStar to bust him!!! What a clown
The ONStar data HEPLS him. It was HIS lawyers that got that data, NOT the idiotic prosecution. You realize that, right??

can you tell me where you see this in this particular video? there is literally nothing like this here, only buster was showed for a second and he simply listens, where is he 'smirking' ?
I agree I seen his brother doing this several times
Absolute pure EVIL!!
It’s amazing to me that there are people who think he’s innocent after watching this trial. But then there are also people who believe OJ is innocent. Lots of ignorant and gullible people out there, I guess. But this one is pretty obvious to anyone with any common sense.
I think it’s obvious, but I also think the state is doing a poor job of erasing reasonable doubt for the jury. We have access to way more information than the jury does, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few wanted to let him walk.
Our country swims in ignorance unfortunately.
Doesn't prove a motive beyond a reasonable doubt
I mean the only question to ask is how much of a coincidence it would be for some rando to show up at the perfect time to kill Paul and Maggie? AM is the only one who knew they were at kennels c'mon no random person would show up and pull off the perfect murders there is no way that's a coincidence AM KNEW they were at kennelsM!! @@mariemurphy2748 it truly is amazing just how ignorant and gullible some people are. 🤦🏼
You can see the guilt written all over his face

Such a cruel man. Killed wife and Son not out of hate/ in a moment of madness, just to save his career and to cover up mistakes at profession. I guess prosecution would ask for death penalty.
Agree. He gives me the chills. His eyes are as dark as the ones of buster. Tears ... I mean: REAL tears are not a strength of this family. The witnesses have cried more tears over the dead people than this evil EVIL man.
I think the death penalty was of the table... I remember reading, 2 months ago that the prosecution won't seek the death sentence
They chose not to pursue the death penalty.
It’s really too bad the Death Penalty is off the table, a.m. is certainly a person deserving of that fate.
@Tracey Hall-Green ha yes!!!! Shark eyes!!!☠️
He lied about being at the kennels at the time or approximate time that the murders occurred before a timeline was even given. How did he know to lie about the time he wasn’t down at the kennels if that’s the time they were killed and no one knew what time they had been killed yet? Guilty!

Buster got a lesson, today, from Mr. Meadors that he's never received from his own father regarding our power of choice and accountability for our bad, in some cases, horrible choices. He's never heard about humbling one's self and taking ownership of the wrong one has done, and that is a shame!

It is almost impossible for people who are not narcissistic to understand someone who is. But there are two cases in the west right now of people who murdered their children. Funny how the dogs were nice and quiet when the murders happened, surrounded by people they knew……
So true. Bubba would have met them in the woods when he went after the chicken if they had been there. Alex said no one was there.

I"m surprised the Death Penaty was removed from this case as gruesom as this crime was.
Prosecution took it off the table in order to get a guilty charge. It is easier for a jury to find guilt w/ circumstantial evidences if there is no death penalty charge. Casey Anthony may have been easier for the jury to find guilty if they had removed the death penalty for example.
Because he knows people

If he's truly not guilty he had bad, bad karma.
Being accused of theft by his firm the same day his family gets killed, the murder weapons being the same as what Murdaughs' owned, owning a weapon that shoots 300 blackout which is not a real common caliber, going to visit at the kennels and being recorded, leaving his phone at the house when he goes to the kennel, leaving at or near the same time as the murders, speeding up driving past where Maggies phone was found, being seen with the blue raincoat with gun residue inside it, telling the housekeeper the wrong times, offering to help pay for the housekeepers wedding after his firm let him know they caught his thefts, forgetting to tell SLED about being at the kennel, in September his firm lets him know of the extent of what they have found and the next day he arranges a supposed hit on himself, claiming he had a $50,000 a week opioid addiction when those pills on the street are only $1
That's a lot of bad karma for an innocent man.
So great that ultimately it was Paul's video that sealed the case!!
Alex never did mention any discussions he had when he was at the kennels. I bet there was an argument. Alex was about to lose everything.

How do you think he killed them in 4 minutes got rid of the guns and clothes plus showered off and got her phone ran over her leg all while being on the phone calling them and talking to his brother. With everything that goes into a criminal trial…what is the reasoning with just one person hanging a jury??
Because jurors have to be unanimous in order to convict after they’ve all heard the same evidence. There can be no doubt left in each juror’s mind. If one juror says not guilty then there was doubt. So they try again w a new jury.

Jim Griffin said if Alex was guilty and he had Thrown Maggie’s phone to hide evidence then why didn’t he just call her phone and answer her phone to create a better alibi with time. I think the phone was left on the golf cart when Maggie ran to Paul during the murder. Maybe Alex took the golf cart across the street to temporarily hide evidence and her phone slid off (no steps). When Alex realized he lost Maggie’s phone he kept calling it. Otherwise, why would Alex toss her phone knowing it would be found?
