    This is the most that I have learned about Hamilton. It really gave me an appreciation for the trend setting and innovation they were respected for. It is nice to have an American brand respected by someone who is not a Yankee.

    Excellent video on a topic ignored by other channels.
    I think you're spot on about solid gold vintage watches being incredible bargains. Rectangular watches in decent condition seem hard to come by in the UK. Whereas round gold watches are plentiful. I picked up a 14k Hamilton intra-matic with micro rotor movement for under £200. And you can buy 9k gold 25 year long service watches very easily. With nice movements too - I have a couple of ones with ultra-thin Peseux and a high beat Longines.

    Very interesting video. It´s curious to see how things have changed. Americans used to consider Swiss watches as inferior simply because they always think they can do everything better than others. Fortunately time and history has taking its time to show them that that's not exactly that way. I do not mean to be offensive at all, of course, but we, people from outside the States, tend to see things a little bit different and with wider horizons. Here in South America for instance, we always considered Swiss watches as the best and the state the art in wachmaking and quality brands. American watches practically didn´t exist in the market here except for Bulova and a very few other forgotten brands. Of course you have made very important contributions to the watchmaking industry too, most of them coming from foreigners who were attracted by the American dream, and that was a fantastic impulse for people like the already mentioned Joseph Bulova , who created one of the most iconic American watch brands ever. Now, times have changed and a Cartier will always be a Cartier, like many other innovative (because yes, designs were and still are innovations and that also counts) and quality brands which keep maintaining their value and are getting the recognition they deserve. Best regards and thank you for the content.

    I received the Hamilton Ventura for my tenth wedding anniversary. Amazing watch. I'd be content if it was my only watch.

    I personally picked up a lovely manual wind Eberhard tank. It uses the ultra thin Frédéric Piguet cal. 21 and has a solid 18kt gold case. "Only" costed me 630 euro!!

      100% correct. From their field watches, to their early Buren/Hamilton microrotor watches. Incredible value.

    Do you think that buying a vintage tank on Chrono24 for a watch dealer is fake a quartz one?

    Crazy. If Jacky O and Warhol wore Hamilton, perhaps history would have turned out differently

      there are numerous celebrities that wore Hamilton, Bulova, Gruen. But nobody talks about it. Today Rolex and Cartier are popular, so we only see old pictures of celebrities wearing these brands. For example, google Paul Newman Accutron. you’ll be shocked what you will see

    You do know that Cartier (also, Longines) were extremely popular in Holywood movies and among Hollywood stars during the 40s and the 50s, right? I mean, I love Hamilton, but there is no need to get ahead of ourselves, is there?

    • @QuartzCrisis
      @QuartzCrisis  Год назад

      No, no true, it's more like looking backwards and trying to see what's popular today in the past. American watches were crazy popular among Hollywood starts. Nobody tells you that Elvis was wearing Hamilton Pacer, Paul Newman Accutron, Steve McQueen Benrus, Hamphrey Bogart Gruen...

    Cartier invented the man’s wrist watch Hamilton is a mass market brand now like Citizen but more expensive and mediocre at best please do your research first before talking about brands. Cartier is the #2 watch brand behind Rolex for Swiss watches

      You're correct about the modern Hamilton vs Cartier but please watch the full video, I'm talking about the pre-war period. Things were very different.
