I almost bought one but was not sure because i am not an expert in Hamilton or Ricoh reading about them and seeing pictures is not the same as holding the watches in your hand .

It's super Interesting , i ask myself why did Hamilton and RIcoh create this kind of watch movement , this hybrid movement was no significant achievment in Hamiltons great history , the Quarrtz crisis was maybe a reason why they made this Deal with RIcoh which didn't last long and this improvised movement was like a Frankenstein , just an attempt to save both companies , Hamilton had no other choice and RIcoh was another company in trouble , they couldn't keep up with Citizen and Seiko . No matter from which point you look at it hamilton had a interesting history and RIcoh was a thing maybe in the 70's but still interesting to me .

Despite all the desperation and the weird but cheaper movement they still made a beautiful watch , the design is even hybrid timeless classic but weird forms you often see on prototypes from cars , they never show up again but stay in our minds because of their Unique and interesting look .

I have 3 Tudors currently. One loses about 2 seconds per day. The other two gains 1 or 2 seconds per day. METAS results without the METAS price. No complaints whatsoever.

I think it’s not correct to say it’s too large, the only fair assessment you can make is your wrist is too small or the watch is too large for you. For millions of other people (myself included) the watch fits perfectly on my 7 inch wrist

For me is the opposite. My Blue Tudor BB58 is the best accuracy watch ever. After 7 years is still +/- 2 sec a day.. its ASHTONISHING!!! I also have a Nomos Ludwig that lose 1 sec a day after 1 year.. definitely the second best watch ever

You are crazy that Speedy fits your wrist just fine. Just quit while you can you will not win this battle. The Speedy fits the average mans wrist just fine. Is it a 34mm dress watch from the 60's that you are after or what?

The MT5400 movement is phenomenal, can’t speak for the date option but lost just 1 second in a week.

The depletion of the paint is caused by alpha particle induced destruction of crystals of the luminophore. As tritium is a soft beta emitter, the destruction occurs at much smaller scale. Also its activity drops faster. Some watches which contain less radium may have longer afterglow.

Please use cpm. uSv/h is useless because your Geiger is probably calibrated with Ceasium 137. So unless you test 137Cs the values are way off.

Most watches aren’t waterproof maybe resistant to a certain depth.

The Courtberg pocket watches at the time were bought for the naval officers by the navies of Turkie, Romania, even Italy. In the Soviet Union they were manufactured under the name of Mojilna or Mojika. Most likely the watch in this small film is one of those. The Courtberg watches are crefited as the inventors of the digital windows showing the dated on the dials. The firm was bought by Omega in the sixties last century. I still have a mechanical wrist steel watch my father left me.

Nice video. These Seiko 7A28 and 7A38 watches are some of the best mass-produced watches ever made. They were made at the peak of the Quartz Crisis and are superior to Swiss watches in almost every way. The fully rebuidable 15 jewel all metal quartz movement is superb. If an Omega Speedmaster had 10 second accuracy per month, 2 year power reserve, 1/10 seconds counter, split seconds function, 100m water reistance and a 4mm thinner case it would be worth over a hundred thousand dollars. The 7A38 7070 with the diver's bezel has all that as well as a day/date display inside the 1/10 seconds counter. And of course, the price...I picked up a 7A for a few hundered dollars and had it fully serviced by a vintage Seiko speciailist in South Australia for $599 AUD. It looks and runs like new now.

I think it’s actually pretty small and definitely too lightweight. But it’s very wearable and my wrist is very small.

Get over it baby wrists. The Speedy is the most wearable 42mm watch and it’s not complained about like this bc people understand it wears more like a 40mm due to its lug to lug. Bit of a dramatic take.
