I completely disagree with your power reserve argument, whether the watch is manual wind or automatic. First, If I'm understanding you correctly, you are arguing that any amount of power reserve that extends beyond the ability of the watch to last overnight before you put it back on again the next morning is unnecessary because it adds to the "wear and tear" of the watch when sitting idle, but running, in the watch box. I must say, that really is not a very good argument. If you rotate through watches and it sits in the watch box for a couple of days running, how is that any different than wearing a single watch every single day? In fact, if that watch even goes one day without power in the mainspring, that is one day LESS that it experiences wear and tear, which can only help with longevity. Second, larger power reserves, while allowing for a watch to last a day or two between wears, also helps with isochronism. There is a "sweet spot" in the power reserve where the watch runs best, and that is usually, from my understanding, the top 2/3 (roughly) of the total power reserve; as the mainspring winds down, the timing is effected. Therefore, having a larger power reserve enables the watch to run in that "sweet spot" for a longer period of time, thus allowing it to keep better time. This is especially useful for a watch sitting for a day unworn.

they are too expensive. at $200 they are charming and the automatic use will probably last for awhile. But use, build quality as you note, is not there. I personally think this watch would be great at half the price, but not a good value at $400-500

Hi you seem very knowledgeable. Do you know the upgrades that Tudor performs on the ETA/Sellita movements? I've read and seen pictures of updated shock system (Kif vs Incabloc) and updated regulated system but not sure it this accurate across the entire Black Bay line (Diver bezel 79220 vs. Steel bezel models). I'd be very angry to find my Tudor upgraded ETA was swapped by a non-upgraded Sellita movement during service.

What this guy says can be quite true. Seiko is on drug to jack prices up for its every reissue. But vintage GS is not easy to find and it takes much time and resources to restore.
