I have made these before using my husband's old Hawaiian shirts but didn't use the V cut prior to sewing. This seems like an easier sew. Thanks for all you share, I appreciate what you do.
Hey Lorrie Thabks for the video. It was great. I would NOT have thought you were a beginnner sewist. ( I’m a beginner but not as talented as you ) I look forward to more sewing vids.
Love the fact that you said you can use fat quarters. Actually would would have liked it at the first of your video. Just makes you realize that you dont have to worry about picking fabris. Especially if you are a beginner. If you want a sharper point. Before you turn inside out clip across the point of each V point. Then when you turn and push at each point using what ever you have the point will be sharper.
Thank you for the detailed video it really helped me making my first bowl koozie I LOVE IT!!! I think everyone is getting one this Christmas now hehe ;)
Cute CUTE Bowl Kozies....It was fun to watch you create it..............you really are quite the seamstress....you really and doing great with all your Fabulous Cricut Maker Creations!!!! Keep on keepin' and can't wait for your next Craftabulous video. Wishing you a Magnificent Monday and may it hold more Craftabulous Fun!! YOU ROCK! Joan Smith
What seam allowance do you use for stitching around? Since the batting is smaller than the material, do you increase the seam allowance to be sure to catch the batting or are you just using 1/4"?
I'm loving your videos, especially these sewing ones & I'm definitely planning on making some of these koozies for myself & gifts 🙂 silly question, what size seam allowance are you using on your projects? Thanks so much for sharing!
Hello... I have a question. I am interested in making this project. Is this project customizable? I was thinking of resizing it to make it both bigger and smaller so it would fit different bowls. However, the option to "customize" is grayed out in Cricut Design Space. Thank you.
The link to the Bowl Koozie SVG doesn’t work, it takes you to Dropbox only to tell you the file has been deleted. Also is the batting supposed to be bigger than the fabric or the fabric bigger than the batting? You first say the fabric is supposed to be bigger than the batting then when you line up the batting with the fabric you then say the batting is supposed to be bigger than the material, I’m sorry I am a newbie at this so I am a little confused. Please help?
Lorrie,, I have made potato bags for the microwave, same concept of 100% cotton materials, did you also use 100% cotton thread, or can I use a general purpose one? I just got my Maker last Thursday and over this weekend have picked up the supplies to follow your video, great instruction, thanks for sharing it.
KD Goski i did use cotton thread however I watched a lot of tutorials on how to make them By hand and many people said they used a blend and it was fine
ok so I'm a bit "challenged" here--I cut the transfer tape as you suggested and placed it on my mat, but when my Maker cut out the batting it cut all the way through the transfer tape as well. What did i do wrong? I understand that you leave the transfer tape on your mat for multiple cuttings....
I have read that even "100 %" cotton batting has some poly in it. There is a batting called Wrap and Zap that is made to use in the microwave. I would use that; I would hate to see someone have a fire. Thanks for the video because I want to make some of these.
Yeah, I read about that, and it said even if it says 100% cotton, they use poly in the scrim or in something. But they can still label it as cotton. I could be wrong but I got that off several videos. That is why you have to use the special batting. I guess I would just go on the safe side and use Wrap N Zap. Someone on the video said their microwave caught fire. I just would not want that to happen to someone, or to a child.
when it shows in your link for design space, 4 mats. Skip the first one, Then next two on dark mats would be the paper for pattern??? Then the next is pink for? Then the purple is for?? Thanks for your help.
I made my first today. I noticed that too. I skipped the first one and use the dark gray one for cutting my cotton batting. I use the pink for my fabric.
Lorrie I have that same sewing machine I have the singer 6800 heavy duty one I got minds from joanns for it’s was on sale the price was 399 I got it for 319.00 I guess that the new one
Linda Mattson I don’t but there are tons of RUclips tutorials on how to make these without the cricut which is how I make the pattern I uploaded for the Cricut
I about drove myself crazy. For some reason didn't cut material same each time. I know some of the reasons. While I didn't want to manually try and recut each piece i came up with this solution. I don't know about you, but I hate that .25 inch edge around the mat. I had cut some material and for some reason it didn't all cut the same. So now I have to make them all the same size. I know that I can manually cut, but why when I have this expensive cutter? So my solution was. Take some Frog tape ( paint dept ) put it on all sides of mat overlapping onto mat some. Now on your design space canvas insert a box. Make the dimensions 11.50 x 11.50. Now set to cut follow prompts and you will now have the exact cutting dimensions. While saving a 1/2 may not seem like much, but if your fabric is a little short you will know exactly cutting place. I have now recut each piece to its right size.
Great gift idea. I love the idea of using and old mat with transfer tape, it will certainly help to save a lot of mats ! Thank you for sharing Lorrie
Thank you so much!!!! You are a very good teacher. God bless and have a lovely Sunday.
Thanks Lorrie for this handy gift idea. I plan to make these fo my Christmas gifts.
I have made these before using my husband's old Hawaiian shirts but didn't use the V cut prior to sewing. This seems like an easier sew. Thanks for all you share, I appreciate what you do.
Just finished up my first Bowl Koozie!!! Thank you so much for the pattern. You are a Rock Star! Please keep up the great ideas for the maker!
Love the hack for the cricut mat, I didn't have any transfer paper but I used contact paper......GREAT IDEA!!!! Thank you!!
Hey Lorrie Thabks for the video. It was great. I would NOT have thought you were a beginnner sewist. ( I’m a beginner but not as talented as you ) I look forward to more sewing vids.
Oh my gosh thank you for the batting mat tip!!
Great tutorial, Lorrie! I have also seen Press N Seal used the same way you used the transfer paper on the cutting mat😊
This is my favorite project. Bought a bunch of Cricut fabric bundles to do them.
Lorrie, Do you have a pdf of the bowl koozie pattern to use if you don’t have a Cricut?

Love, love, love this. You have solved all my Christmas gift giving problems!
Thank you so much! You made it so easy to do. I made 2, they came out perfect!
Love your sewing tutorials I need to get a maker verses my old explore but never got good with DSP so never used it much.
I just made a couple of them with your file...again thank you so much for sharing it...it made it a lot easier...
#cricutlove This was a favorite project I did with help from Lorrie’s video. #cricutlove
Thank you for the video! I'm about to but my first sewing machine and this will be my first project!
Lorrie, you are so AMAZING! Thank you for the great tutorial and for sharing your design
love it Lorrie and you did a great job teaching it thanks so much.
Wow, just seeing this and I love it. Thanks for the file and the info.
Awesone tutorial. I have never sown a project before and this was not difficult to make. I will tag you on FB.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!! I followed along and made one but I couldn't stop stich because it is so thick my needle kept breaking???
Love this thanks for sharing
Love this project! These are the best ever!
What a great idea, explained so well!
What seam allowance do you use for stitching around? Since the batting is smaller than the material, do you increase the seam allowance to be sure to catch the batting or are you just using 1/4"?
Thanks so much love this bowl cozy!
Love your shirt. Did you make it? Can you do a video on how it’s made if you are the one that made it?
Love this idea. I do not have a Cricut Explore. Could you give a pattern for each fabric and batting. What size is the V cut out.
Did you soak the batting in water for 20 mins. First?
I'm loving your videos, especially these sewing ones & I'm definitely planning on making some of these koozies for myself & gifts 🙂 silly question, what size seam allowance are you using on your projects? Thanks so much for sharing!
Thinking of your trick for cutting batting, is that not an excellent way to recharge a mat? You can reuse as a sticky mat.
Great project and video! Thank you for the DS file!! :)
HI Lorrie, is it necessary to use two layers of batting if it is the wrap and Zap? Thank You for the wonderful video!!
LOVE IT, Lorrie! Thank you!
Great video as always from you. Love your shirt... did you make it?? and if so can you do a tutorial on how to do it?
Great tutorial...thank you for the file...
these are so fun to make..
Thanks so much Lorrie.
Thank you just made my first koozie
Hello... I have a question. I am interested in making this project. Is this project customizable? I was thinking of resizing it to make it both bigger and smaller so it would fit different bowls. However, the option to "customize" is grayed out in Cricut Design Space. Thank you.
If you click on her link above for the Design Space file, rather than find it in Design Space, it is customizable.
You could do that by making the angle cuts larger or smaller.
Love you videos. I want to make a bowl koozie but there is no pattern that can be printed out or directions for cutting it. Not everyone has a cutter!
The link to the Bowl Koozie SVG doesn’t work, it takes you to Dropbox only to tell you the file has been deleted. Also is the batting supposed to be bigger than the fabric or the fabric bigger than the batting? I really like your pattern for the Koozie but I do not see where I can resize for smaller ones since I can't get the image on my canvas?

Lorrie Nunemaker thank you

It sounds like your pressure is too high. Just adjust your setting and you should be fine.
Where is the pattern link?
I have read that even "100 %" cotton batting has some poly in it. There is a batting called Wrap and Zap that is made to use in the microwave. I would use that; I would hate to see someone have a fire. Thanks for the video because I want to make some of these.
petmom ful 100% cotton batting does not have poly in it or it couldn’t be 100% cotton. There are cotton/poly blend battings
Yeah, I read about that, and it said even if it says 100% cotton, they use poly in the scrim or in something. But they can still label it as cotton. I made my first today. I noticed that too. I skipped the first one and use the dark gray one for cutting my cotton batting. I use the pink for my fabric.
Thank You!
Can I use natural cotton quilt batting for this project? Or does it have to say microwave safe? Thanks
Robin Mudd / SimpleDesigns you can use 100% cotton
Lorrie Nunemaker thanks my friend keeps telling me I need microwave safe I didn’t want to have to make another trip to the fabric store
I would love to make some of these, but was able to get the pattern.
How due you get it to use once it is download in dropbox
those are cute can you use a cricut explore one to make them?
Stephanie y as stated in the video. Explore users can cut in paper and use that as a pattern
What Cricket model did you use can you still buy it i am in Australia
I’m not sure. I’m in the U.S, Try a Google Search for “Cricut machine in Australia”?
Lorrie I have that same sewing machine I have the singer 6800 heavy duty one I got minds from joanns for it’s was on sale the price was 399 I got it for 319.00 I guess that the new one
i haven't found the download for the patteren loved your video
Beverly Schwartz it’s in the video description below the video
Do I cut with pretty side of fabric down or does it matter on this project?
Prim Decor either way. Just do them
All the same
What do you type in to design Space to get the pattern I keep typing in Bowl Koozie and get pictures of bowling pins or Bowls
design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/5aa19df9679b0014550bea9c
Is there a way I can just type in the info in design space to get your pattern becuz the link you posted is not working for me
Where do you buy the sewing clips?
Do you have a pattern for those of us that don't have a cricut? Thanks.
Linda Mattson I don’t but there are tons of RUclips tutorials on how to make these without the cricut which is how I make the pattern I uploaded for the Cricut
What are the measurements for the design?
how do you fine the pattern
Is it necessary to use 100% cotton thread ?
TheMarinemomm I did not use 100% cotton thread and I’ve not had any problem
It looks like you’re sewing quarter inch seams? Yes?
Yes
what is the Seam allowance?
How would it be to use a ziz zag stitch around the edge?
Susan Weatherly not sure. I have not tried that
Why not cut the fabric out with the Maker?
I about drove myself crazy. For some reason didn't cut material same each time. I know some of the reasons. While I didn't want to manually try and recut each piece i came up with this solution. How can I get the pattern into my Cricut?

Did not see the pattern
I wish that I would have watched this before I cut my batting.
