you don’t need to replace all that housing…thats crazy! I know Luk and other companies make a repair sleeve and a matching throw out bearing. Way easier and less expensive.

I was thinking the same thing but the video is almost 8 years old. Did they have the repair sleeve that long ago?

Hello from France ! Love your videos and all the passion that you have for Subaru . I'm a big fan of Subaru and bought one 6 years ago she's completly full stock and been look after like a Subaru fan should do . The only thing i have changed is the exhaust and that's it . All my oil changes have been done on time and with the best oil Motul .... gearbox motor rear diffencial ...... The lot i love her and look after her but i have a little problem with her when i'm in high rpm and let go the accelerator i hear like a grounding noise as soon as i acceralte it goes . The noise only happen's when i'm in high rpm and only when i'm driving not when she's stopped i can hit the 6000 rpm stopped and no noise . She's got 150000km on the clock and the clutch has never been changed ( i have'nt done it because no problem with it no problem changing gears ect .....) so wathing this video i was wondering if this could be my problem and it's been going on for a year now and been searching for a year too . Thank's a lot if you have the time to answer and hope to see more videos . J'adore MRT .

I think this guy is right about the 5speed, mine was probably not grease correctly causing hard foot clutch and led to fork n bearing failure.

Others mention it in the comments but you can buy a repair sleeve to go over that damage with a tob that fits over it.

i have a 2016 subaru wrx and i also have a squeaky clutch/spongy feel. Also i do get noise when it rains/especially in the morning and the noise goes away when it heats up. Do you think i need a new clutch assembly or should bleed the system. Thanks for the advice!

Gday guys, I am going through the same thing on my 09 Forester XT with the 5 speed. Release bearing decided to shit itself, I believe the input shaft is still serviceable though, is there a easy way to tell? Also do you just machine the flywheel and reuse it? There is lots of miss information going around!

  • @ZilingZhao
    @ZilingZhao 9 лет назад +2

What should you do if your clutch pedal squeaks then? Should it be taken apart to examine? It seems like it squeaks when i press the pedal, but only sometimes. Often after the car has heated up there is no more problem with squeaks.

Just bought a wrx 2018 6spd. Clutch is really stiff and springy, the main problem I'm having is the late catch point, how do I prolong the life of my stock clutch? Any tips or mods that could help?

I have a 17 sti I try to shift the trans quick when driving quickly and I swear the clutch takes its time to release causing me to not be able to shift into 4th quickly meanwhile 3rd and 5th are perfect. I wanna continue to drive the car quickly when I want to but could a stiffer clutch fix this ???

Wish I could have this guy work on my car. I had my clutch replaced about a year ago on my 2007 subaru impreza wrx at a independent shop, then a few months ago it started making a squeaky sound but went away when I pushed in the clutch. I took it into a subaru dealership to get a diagnosis they said the throw out bearing was going bad. Also a few months earlier a bolt came loose from the starter and the mechanic who discovered it said whoever did my clutch didn't titghen down the bolt enough and hopefully that was all they messed. So not trusting the the shop I had the clutch replaced at and the warranty being expired. I took into the subaru dealership to have the throw out bearing replaced. Two weeks later and it's making the exact same noise and goes away when I push in the clutch. Is this what's wrong with my car mrt performance? I'm afraid that what it sounds like.

I had my release bearing make some horrible noise for about 2 days (MY99 WRX) mechanic said not to really worry about it. The noise has gone away and I have since done about 3000kms but I haven't had any issues.
Should the gearbox be opened and checked?

No way to put a speedy sleeve on that? Seems like a ton of work for a bearing slide surface. Lots of money in them castings I suppose.

hi there I have a 2016 wrx 6spd with a whinning noise from the clutch after disengage or cold or wet day. I took it to the dealer in Taiwan all they did was changed my tranny assembly. the problem persist 3 days after on my new tranny assembly. Could this be my throw out bearing? Can I just change an aftermarket throw out bearing (ACT or Exdey) and call it a day or would you recommend to change stage 1 clutch kit! I first notice the problem when I only had 1,000km now it's on 13,000 km on my second tranny assembly! Please help me thanks!

Hi MRT Performance, I just recently installed a new flywheel clutch and pressure plate from Competition on my 2011 Subaru WRX 5 speed. Well I'm running into and issue with the clutch not disengaging.
When off it shifts into 1st easy but when one it does not.
When installed in replaced the push fork with a OEM one but used the release bearing that was supplied with the kit.
Any tips before I re-drop the transmission to see whats going on inside?
I did bleed the Slave Cylinder a bit making sure that the Master always had fluid.

Sometimes when I let up my clutch and revving when I'm taking off, there is a noise like slipping or rubbing but absolutely no slippage once the clucth is fully engaged. And pulls very well through the gears with no slippage. Is this a potential costly problem. And what could it be?

Hello, from the mass clutch manufacturers like exedy, aisin, valeo, etc which would you recommend for better performance?
Also is the old subaru push type clutch less torque capable than the pull type?( i ask because i think it mostly came in naturally aspirated ej engines)?

Have an 05 STi and I was on my way to work. I was going to shift into 5th but wouldn’t budge causing me to grind the gears when I would try to throw into gear. I can’t throw it into any gear now while the car is running. But when off I can go into all gears.
