The way the data can push to the iPhone is cool. Really interesting and of course, the power and cadence should be sent to Strava otherwise it's not a replacement for my Karoo2. Thanks always interesting.
no point of recoding power if you can see it on Strava or other third party apps. I’m hoping with the API integration with third party apps, this will change soon.
I’m really hoping that Apple does something more with the data gathering. Right now you can’t search or add up or set goals in Apple fitness. You can only see each rides data. I’d love to be able to look back at my week, month, year.
That would be great if they add radar support. I think the challenge there is, most radars currently available support ant+ only. Until they support Bluetooth, I doubt we will see it on the Apple watch.
@SmartBikeTrainers What Phone Mounts can you recommend especially for aero handlebars? (like yours in the video at 4:23) It's easy to find some for normal handlebars but I find it difficult for aerobars.
Installing the release version today...any update on what's different/better (please Apple) than the beta you tested? Thanks. Just paid for another year of Rungap a few day ago, so I guess I can just stick to that for getting data over to Strava and TP...
You would think that but I haven’t seen anything about cycling VO2 in this release. But like you said, this should give them the ability to add cycling VO2 in the future.
I have but one issue. I have a smart trainer which seems to only have 1 bluetooth connection port. I want to have the Apple watch synced with smart trainer , but then i cant have my smart trainer connected with zwift :( . How Can i make the best of this ?
I’m still waiting on those results. Needs 5 rides and haven’t had five rides yet. It’s kinda of sucks that I got the beta installed on a taper week too 🤷🏻♂️
Hi Tariq, Any ideas if the watch OS 10 with a power meter will not calculate VO2 max from cycling now, rather than just a brisk walk and run as in previous watch os ?
You mention in the video that when syncing workouts to Strava, cadence and power don’t sync in the beta version - since we are way past that did they fix that or is that still the way it works? I just got powerlink pedals and the first workout didn’t sync power to Strava. I did get cadence to sync - just wondering if this is the way it works or if I’m doing something wrong. I’ve tried reaching out to Strava support, but doesn’t seem helpful. Thanks
@@SmartBikeTrainers so what is the workaround? Record the workout in wahoofitness. Can my Apple Watch hook up to wahoo fitness app so heart rate is available?
It does pair to Wahoo via Bluetooth and record power and cadence. However it won’t control it. That requires using FTMS protocols which isn’t in this watch release.
Do you know a way to add or remove old racer routes. I started mine a year ago and they are short compared to the routes I ride now, and would like to extend or make new ones, but can find a way. Any Ideas?
I don’t know much about e-bikes but I believe there are certain e-bike specific apps that can provide additional metrics that are specific to e-bikes. The cycling activity algorithm on the Apple Watch detects when a user is riding an e-bike and adjust metrics calculations accordingly.
@@SmartBikeTrainers does it send the power data to Apple Health? I use HealthFit to sync to Strava from Apple Health so I'm wondering if this would solve this issue? It works great with the Workoutdoors App. But, workoutdoors doesn't have the mirroring feature and I'm intrigued. Also, can you comment on battery drain on both the watch and phone while using it for a workout? Would recording a 5-6 hour ride be possible?
Hi all, it could be a gamechanger. I want to avoid placing my iPhone on my handlebar. So is it possible to place my AppleWatch on the handlebar and wearing HR chest (eg Polar H10) and see all metrics (HR, Power?) furthermore is it possible to import GPS tours?
Nice video. Love the iPhone interface. Been tempted to ditch my garmin as with each update and release it’s becoming more buggy with Bluetooth sensors. Might try this out (as I am On a developer account) and see if I could migrate away
I desperately wish there was a comparison video showing how much the Apple watch calorie tracking for cycling differs when it's using a power meter vs when it is not. I think if we had an idea of how the results looked like, it might be helpful in estimating better the actual calories burned for people who don't have a power meter for their bike. I really want to get a power meter but it's so expensive and I am just really wanting to understand how well the calorie tracking is working on the apple watch for myself.
That’s a great question. Apple Watch tch calories tracking is as good as you will probably get. Having said that, calories tracking using a power meter is usually within 5% accuracy. HR calories tracking can be within 10% to 20%.
The same thing happens with running workouts not syncing power data to Strava. I doubt it will be fixed. But the solution is to do the Apple->Strava sync through a third party app, like HealthFit.
3:33 Could you tell what is this phone holder? Look very clean.
That one is no longer available but I would recommend the Quad lock over the one I was using:

@@SmartBikeTrainersquadlock is great
can you share the link for iphone cycle mount?
4:36 I like the data 📊 view on iPhone. I find it more useful and interesting than what Wahoo and Strava gives me.
This is not a glitch by Apple. Strava needs to update the app to request this data.
Exactly, and 9 months later, 1 month from another WWDC and the new iOS 18 and watchOS 11, Strava continues not to care the data over.
Great video, looking forward to WatchOS 10

My Apple Watch uploads automatically to Strava
Thank you! This is a great review.
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
I’d have liked to see a 3s avg. Power too… gave some feedback to Apple, hope they will offer it in a next WatchOS release.
I'm really curious about the experience of pairing the new watchOS with stationary bike trainers like the KICKR
It’s just like pairing a power meter. It will show up as a power meter. However you will not be able to control the kickr using the watch.
I’m really hoping that Apple does something more with the data gathering. Right now you can’t search or add up or set goals in Apple fitness. You can only see each rides data. I’d love to be able to look back at my week, month, year.
WOOHOO, they have now updated this! :) They have more metrics! :D
2:09 So you can change views on Watch and it also affects the display on iPhone. 😮😮. Only thing I’m missing now is radar support.
That would be great if they add radar support. I think the challenge there is, most radars currently available support ant+ only. Until they support Bluetooth, I doubt we will see it on the Apple watch.
@@SmartBikeTrainers Magene dont support BLE, but Varia and Gardia do. The Cadence app will show alerts on phone screen.
Great video! Do you know if Strava will detect this when launching a new ride from the Strava app on the watch?
Excellent video. 3s power would be good. I wonder why Apple decided against that metric.
Not sure why they didn’t add it. Would be nice to see that and other power metrics added as well. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
thanks for review! how's the battery usage?
It’s pretty solid. A year of use and lasts about 2 days before needing to charge.
@@SmartBikeTrainers You mean... you rode every day for 2 days? How many hours did you ride a day?

QuadLocks make very good mounts and would be my recommendation

Do you need an ultra model for this or will other models work for power meter synching
Other models should work with PM syncing.
Does Apple watch 10 support the Schwinn recumbent 270 with indoor cycling?

Not much. All the same from my initial observations.
Interesting. I wonder if this is a precursor to them giving a VO2 Max estimate using cycling now instead of only walking/running.

What if I only use one power Meter pedal? It shows me actually only halfe power :-(
Thanks :) God bless you :)
Is that available on every Apple Watch, or just the ultra?
I only tested it on my Apple Watch Ultra but my understanding is it should be available on any Apple Watch that is compatible with watchOS 10.
You should do a video about estimated power power meters apps :)
