    You can cook them right on the stalk. It is super easy and delicious . Just clean the whole stalk. Wipe each sprout w. Olive oil. Put in oven at 375. Turn the stalk 1/3 rotation every 15 minutes. Delicious and makes beautiful, dramatic presentation.

    Dude, you have made me a believer. I have been searching for the right way to cook brussel sprouts for months and all I end up with are these mushy or burned oven baked sprouts. "Just toss with olive oil and roast!" Yuck. But roasting in a cast iron pan until seared, then turning, is SO MUCH BETTER (and faster). Let me add my magical secret. After you've done all of the above, toss them in a bowl with a spoonful of caesar salad dressing. I learned this trick from a Hawaiian chef. You'd never know it was caesar and it adds just a hint of creaminess to these amazing little roasted morsels. SOOO GOOOOD

    I used to hate Brussels sprouts, then I learned how to cook them and they are my favorite. I chop and cook a little bacon and use the fat to fry the sprouts. A little higher heat gets you a nice outer seat and leaves just a bit of a bite on the inside. I've taken to adding sliced mushrooms and or toasted pecans for added texture. Finish with salt and pepper and a little bit of balsamic vinegar. Amazing.

  • @viviennecooper1361
    @viviennecooper1361 4 года назад +4

    Don't forget to rinse them off before you slice them so sand/dirt doesn't get inside. Then make sure they are dry or they won't be crispy when you cook them on the stove or in the oven.😎

    I watched this video and went straight to the kitchen. Brussel Sprouts seared in Ghee then oven roasted - I thought Yes! They were so delicious. I roast Brussel Sprouts all the time but this recipe is the winner. Creamy in the center just like he said and crispy on the outside. They are like Candy.

    You need to be on the food network. IM NOT KIDDING. or apply for their shows on competition for the next breakout chef with their own show. IM NOT KIDDING. You are at ease in front of the camera and know and believe in your dish. Some of the competitors on those shows are so nervous and I feel incompetent and I feel you are the opposite. Yes they are really good cooks, but can they relate to the people and most importantly the camera. You’ve got this 🦋💜

    I've been eating brussels sprouts for thousands of years, and my secret trick is to criss-cross cut them. You make one cut about 1/2-3/4" deep, then rotate the knife 90 degrees and cut the brussels sprout in half, so you do a shallow cut and then a full cut. It makes them cook faster and more evenly otherwise you can get too much sog factor on the top with undercooked bottom.
    And also bacon. For true next-level brussels sprouts, you always need BACON and ONIONZ.

      In the meantime, my fav asparagus recipe is to place a cookie sheet lined with aluminum and lightly oiled full of spears in the oven at 325*F or on the BBQ for 12 minutes. Remove and drizzle with a 50/50 mixture of butter (grass fed!) and balsamic vinegar. Addictive!!

      Asparagus and mushrooms cooked in a barbecue wok make a great flavour combination

      To roast them , prep the vegtibles bu snapping the bottom of them off , it’ll honestly naturally happen and then throw the butt away , you can wrap them in aluminum foil with some olive oil, slat and pepper and they’ll be good, also on a baking sheet

    I like to slice them and when they're half done, add an equal amount of whole garlic cloves to caramelize along with them... add salt and a little water and the cover to steam a couple minutes before serving. They remain crispy and salty sweet but the centers stay moist.

    Chopsticks - not just for Chinese food. They're great for turning small things in a hot pan or manipulating individual pieces of food you're deep frying. They even sell really long ones in Asian supermarkets just for cooking.

    Just to add to this, to reduce a little of the bitterness I fry them exactly like you do but I also put a 1/4 cup water into a bowl with spices and when the Brussel sprouts are browned and the pan is hot I throw it into the pan, cover it until the water steams out and finish with lemon zest and a splash of juice. It has been a weekly dish in our house for years. It also works using broccoli, cheers,.
