Omigod 73-74 was an AWESOME year for television--what I wanna know is, how do I honestly remember watching all these shows (except for Owen Marshall)?? It's not like we had vcrs back then! I haven't seen 'Medical Center' in 40+ years, but can still picture his swinging doctors bachelor pad with the giant sectional! A very belated thank you, FredFlix!!
Thanks for the video! It brought back memories for me! Expescally your honorable mention The Waltons. I remember pleading with my mom to let me stay up to watch the show. Sometimes I will go to bed saying "Goodnight John Boy". I actually remember all of these shows like it was yesterday.
A great list. The Waltons was a cultural icon. If you told anyone, “Goodnight, John Boy,” they got it. I would have included The Brady Bunch and The Midnight Special.
I love your channel, The flood of memories from these vids. MTM, Mash, All in the Family, etc.Staying up with the folks in our panelled rec. room, watching all these shows. The dismembering affect of today's technology, everyone doing their own thing on their own device. At least back then we still did things as families..
i didn't even like all these shows but i still watched them anyway (i was born in 68). alot of them i remember more from re-runs (late 70's/early 80's) than i do first run. then in the 90's a bunch of 70's shows started being re-shown on cable channels like A&E whenever i would go through periods of unemployment i'd watch certain ones ('THE ROCKFORD FILES', 'DON KIRSHNER'S ROCK CONCERT', 'POLICE STORY', 'NIGHT GALLERY', 'THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL' and 'SWAT' certainly). i'm L.A. born and raised and since so many of these shows were filmed in L.A. it was always fascinating to see how much certain areas had changed over the years from the early 70's to the late 90's. lol music theme songs for tv shows were so dramatic back then. it seems comical now but it didn't seem comical at all at the time.
I remember going to school the day after Kung Fu premiered, it was all the rage with the guys. We couldn't wait for it every week. My favorite Sanford and Son characters were Grady and Aunt Esther. Aunt Esther worked hard to beat Jesus into Fred.
Back in The Day.. when Sanford & Son was on the air, every time the theme song would begin my brother Bob, (AKA as "The Amazingly Talented Brother Bob") and myself would break into our infamous "Sanford & Son Jiggity Jive Dance!" lol... it was a really pathetic attempt to get our father to keep the Sanford & Son show on and not tune into whatever it was that he tuned in to... never worked.. not even once, what a great dance though! 👀 After I got married many years later, I turned that dance into the "Apartment Shuffle"! To this very day my wife still requests that dance! Thanks for the memories, Fred!
@@FredFlix Thank you my American Baby Boomer Brother! Those were not perfect days of course, but it's the only youth we will ever have and it was a lot better than it is now in America! I was 10 during that television season. There were so many great shows but we had one TV and 4 channels (CBS, NBC, ABC & PBS). I remember being allowed to stay up late to watch The Carol Burnett Show - what a treat! I had forgotten about the Arrid Extra Dry , which reminds me that I used Dial soap, washed my hair with Breck shampoo, drank Tab cola, ate Choco'Lite candy bars and finally, enjoyed those Swanson TV dinners (Salisbury Steak - mashed potatoes - corn - brownie) on Saturday night ... those were the days! How disappointed I was when I found out that real life "Medical Center" and "Marcus Welby MD's" don't exist. They never had episodes in those shows where the doctor or medical center's turned patients away because they did not have insurance.
as usual GREAT job-I'm 59 and these really bring back a LOT of memories! Just a couple things, though. There's the one you mentioned about CANNON/BARNABY JONES, also the intro for the ABC movie "MR. & MRS. BO JO JONES" is from 1971 and why do you show part of the opening of the movie "MASH" and have part of the theme for it instead of the one from the show?
Adam-12 ....must have been one of the first " cross over " shows...officers Reed and Maloy were at Rampart when Gage and DeSoto ran into them talking to Daisy

I did see your comment, Pamela, and you're very welcome. If you're talking about the Sunday Mystery Movie's mysterious figure holding the flashlight in the opener, it's, well, a mystery.
FredFlix , that's funny the identity of the man with the flashlight is also a mystery :D Maybe one day they will tell us who he is and that mystery will be solved like all the others on the show : ) Peace
Interesting beginning to The $6M Man. Not bad but I defiantly like the other one. Made me want to follow an aerospace career. One more memory: Arrid Extra Dry spray. I couldn’t breathe when my parents sprayed that crap! 🤢
Ive always wanted to know who those guys were rowing in the canoe in H5-0. I always imagined that they were the 5-0 cops off duty, they looked so like they were racing to get somewhere
Man, I had no idea the mash theme song Had lyrics. Anyway, this video was worth it just to hear the theme music from Hawaii Five-O. Thanks for the Memories guy, great days they were.

kind of?, "Frank Cannon had his first meeting with Barnaby Jones (Buddy Ebsen), an aging veteran private investigator who had retired and turned over his agency to his son, Hal. However, Hal is killed. With the aid of Cannon and Hal's widow, Betty Jones (Lee Meriwether), they hunt down Hal's killer. Afterward, Jones decides to come out of retirement. The premiere episode of Barnaby Jones, "Requiem for a Son" was planned as a second-season Cannon episode so that Barnaby Jones could qualify as a spin-off of Cannon, but when Barnaby Jones was sold as a separate series, the script was reworked into the premiere of that series. William Conrad appeared as Cannon in the guise of a special guest star."
I recall having no idea who Kojak was when my classmates started talking about the show. I was a big fan of Kolchak, the bungling paranormal investigator; & that's who I initially thought they were talking about! THEY thought it was funny I didn't know Kojak. When I finally deliberately located & watched the detective series, I enjoyed it. In those days, my go-to was fantasy, paranormal & sci-fi! Anything else, I tended to start watching because I finished my homework, & got hooked by what my folks were watching!
Cathy Vickers, I forgot all about Kolchak: The Night Stalker along with Rod Serling's Night Gallery, were two of my favorites at that time. Thanks for reminding me of how much I loved them. For some reason I never did like Kojak, there must have been something better on at the same time, because I only remember watching Kojak a few times not enough to get hooked. Although I knew it was a popular show with a catchphrase of "Who Loves Ya Baby".
a little bit down the time line for me still these tv shows seemed to reach out and grab u !!! man there was so so many crime private detective mystery shows the list goes on an on nice to see these little clips again wow that Hawaii five o opening theme crazy lol!
I still watch Barnaby Jones and Cannon on cable. Part of their appeal is that they are so "dated".......like rows of phone booths on the streets, no cell phones, Cannon smoking a pipe sometimes, Banacek is pretty good because I get to see the old Boston in a lot of shots. I live right outside Boston.
I'm 61 now and remember all these shows growing up. Oh to go back to those days again!
So was i ,we were living in less complicated times un-jaded as kids.
We need a time machine!

Kung Fu and the six million dollar man damn you can't beat that line up.
I loved kungfu and hated 6 million dollar man.
There was a 6m dollar man where Steve was in a toy store and there was a 6m dollar man doll on the shelf
Every single clip was something I watched ! Wow I sure loved tv 10 hours a day back then I wish I could go back I lived too long
I graduated in "74. This was great and thanks for the walk down memory lane.
When Kung Fu came out , it was like WOW! I was glued to the set! And what could beat Sanford and Son for comedy.
This was about the time I asked my dad if I could call him, "Pop!" He smiled and said sure!! I miss that old man.

Mike Reid right with you there bud, I remember them like they were on yesterday I m 59.
Mike Reid I'm 63 and remembering 98% of these shows, wow what has happened the time?
55 here I remember these too
@Greg Brown yes sure did not like garbage today!
Thank you for all of the great memories. I forgot all about Medical Center.
70's when it was cool to be a cop
Kojak was always my favorite. “Who loves ya baby?”
A few of these shows are on Cozi TV. The Six Million dollar man, Kojak, Emergency.
Only first seasons of each show
Omg I forgot about Banechek with George Peppard

lol music theme songs for tv shows were so dramatic back then. it seems comical now but it didn't seem comical at all at the time.
I love watching the Walton's on Thursdays and Little House on the same day different channels and times. Love from Marysville, California
The lyrics to "Suicide Is Painless" (the theme to "M*A*S*H") were never heard on the series, and were composed by Robert Altman's son.
vividwatch47 That’s one of the great things about the movie. Aside from the cast and script. :)
I was eight years old when these shows came out. Six Million Dollar Man and MASH were my favorites.
#1- Mom, can I stay up and watch the movie? No, go brush your teeth and get to bed for school tomorrow! Every Sunday at 9:00.
Yeah me too. I was in 2nd grade, 8yrs old. I remember I always got really really sad when that movie came on because it meant I had to go to bed.
I remember going to school the day after Kung Fu premiered, it was all the rage with the guys. We couldn't wait for it every week. My favorite Sanford and Son characters were Grady and Aunt Esther. Aunt Esther worked hard to beat Jesus into Fred.

62 year old here and I remember a lot of the shows in this video.
you were right on with the #1 pick!
I would’ve ranked sanford and son higher.

great memories here, thank you for posting :)

Marcus Welby was still that popular that far into the 1970s? I did not know that.
Great post as usual.
Thanks, Laceykat66.
In 73-74 I was in 6th grade. This brings back good memories
WOW!!!This brings back memories!! I feel sorry for those growing up today there is nothing that makes you use your own imagination!
The absolute zenith of human civilization. I was 8-9 years old and at the height of my powers.
How can these wonderful videos not get more views!!! :(
"The Movie of the Week",on free TV, had better shows than most of the crap we go to theatres and PAY to see!
a1 gorski true facts
Nice to see a photo of the late great Jerry Goldsmith for "Police Story".
Stravos!!!!
Sanford and Son had the best theme song.
Emergency??????? Randolph Mantooth, Kevin Tighe, Robert Fuller, NBC, Saturday Night at 8:00 pm???????
Adam-12 ....must have been one of the first " cross over " shows...officers Reed and Maloy were at Rampart when Gage and DeSoto ran into them talking to Daisy
Emergency yes... Made me interested in medical work! For sure
I enjoy watching these!! But some of the promos are of earlier seasons of the shows. But I really like how you put the compilations together.

I also noticed at the 11:05 mark that Desi Arnaz jr. looked like Matthew Broderick in that shot.
Thank You Fred : )
I can't find who the person who's holding the flashlight I hope you can : )
I did see your comment, Pamela, and you're very welcome. If you're talking about the Sunday Mystery Movie's mysterious figure holding the flashlight in the opener, it's, well, a mystery.

I caught the Broderick look, too!
John Uzzell : )
Totally agree with Number one -- NBC Sunday Mystery Movie. But what happened to Planet of the Apes?
I love seeing old previews
New this fall of 1970 s 50s and 60s shows love how to used to be bit the way it is now
The SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN... every kid was running around in slow motion after every show on sundays lol
I love your channel!!!!
Thank you, jesper856.
I remember most of em. Fred, you make me feel old.
Another beer might help, or not. WTH. Me and the cats are chilling.
Good for you, Jim.
two things about this collection- SWAT was a spin off of The Rookies in 1975-and Mark Shera went to Barnaby Jones after SWAT was cancelled
Good info. In 1975 I was working night shift so I I didn't watch those shows. It was two years before I bought the first Sony Betamax.
The only good thing about SWAT was the theme song. ;)
73 is the year I was born so automatic thumbs up! Lol
I remember 1973 and going in to watch Kung Fu, coming back out to find my new 10 speed bike stolen, thanks a lot , Kwai Chang Kain !
Well, they always said TV was bad for you.
jsilence418
You lost your bike for a show that's called "KHONG FOO".
I watched most of these as a kid. Good number one choice. I especially loved that, Sanford & Son, and Hawaii Five-O
Mike Stone is no longer around to keep the Streets of San Francisco beautiful.
Some clips from the network news could have been included; Vietnam winding down, Watergate, etc.
Interesting beginning to The $6M Man. Not bad but I defiantly like the other one. Made me want to follow an aerospace career. One more memory: Arrid Extra Dry spray. I couldn’t breathe when my parents sprayed that crap! 🤢
Helping my elderly parents navigate the health 'care' system today - it ain't like Marcus Welby or Medical Center. Stay healthy people.

this is so wonderful!
Glad you liked it.
Man, I had no idea the mash theme song Had lyrics. Anyway, this video was worth it just to hear the theme music from Hawaii Five-O. Thanks for the Memories guy, great days they were.
@DM Sullivan the lyrics were written by the teenage son of director Robert Altman, which is even more depressing
Hello, would you any footage with Basia please? I am a big fan. Thank you.
Two all time great shows : “All in the Family” and “Sanford and Son” (A time when America could laugh)
Great Job in this !!
Thanks, Stephen.

@@danielmcdonald3527 Appreciate it, Daniel.
You gotta fix your Barnaby Jones caption. BJ was a Cannon spinoff, not vice versa.
Ouch! Can't change it but I'll put a note beside the video. Thanks.
kind of?, "Frank Cannon had his first meeting with Barnaby Jones (Buddy Ebsen), an aging veteran private investigator who had retired and turned over his agency to his son, Hal.
Columbo was # !??? Sanford and Son was so funny when Fred would be arguing with Aunt Esther......they were hilarious together.
The theme from MASH, you used the movie theme, the TV one never used the lyrics.
And not too many people know the name of the song either
Great lineup !
The sonny and Cher comedy hour always came on tv no Sunday nights
A great diversion from thinking about school on Mondays back in 1976
I recall having no idea who Kojak was when my classmates started talking about the show.
The Night Stalker.....they tried to reboot it recently, and Darren Macgavin had a cameo in it
Man some of those Movies of The Week, were weak! LOL
they could not use the lyrics from the mash movie for the tv show for obvious reasons
No music score for Love America Style? That was one of the best back then.
Thank You
You're welcome, Pat.
a little bit down the time line for me still these tv shows seemed to reach out and grab u !!! man there was so so many crime private detective mystery shows the list goes on an on nice to see these little clips again wow that Hawaii five o opening theme crazy lol!
Best classy combo: Banacek, played by George Peppard. Boy, did I have a crush on him.
