I mean it, it's the best trimmer head I have ever used. This is not a paid promotion, I bought the trimmer head with my own money and no one from any company got me to make this. I just really liked the trimmer head and wanted to make sure people know about it. Many people struggle with bump heads and this is a great alternative. Enjoy! 👍 You can get this one here: amzn.to/3f8iBI5 and the newer combo head here: amzn.to/2SjUKfG
Just installed mine a few minutes ago, Love it. Gave it a test ride at 7:25. Had me weed eating in the dark. Couldn't stop. Nice not to have stop and rethread.,👍
I've been using these Pivotrim heads for at least 8 or 10 years. I've giving them out to friends and relatives, and they all say the same things.... I wish I had this head all along! A great product.
andicampbell8621. 🤣I was wondering if someone would point that out lol. I have been searching for a better set up than I had, and the one I saw on you tube that really struck me as a good one was the one where you line up the hole right through the head, then feed about 10 feet of line right through, double it over and cut, =20 feet, then ratchet the line on till you have the correct length that you want and you're good to go. However, as easy as this is, and I'm happy with it....the one in your video would be hard to beat. You are basically going from two strings to six strings, which is probably why it lasts so long. I will definitely give this one a try. Thanks
I followed included instructions for 20 minutes (unsuccessfully). Turned on your video and problem was resolved in fewer than 5 minutes. Great work, thanks a ton! For reference, I also replaced a Ryobi trimmer head.
I have been using this style of head for many years. When my 25 year old shindawa weed eater was beyond repair, I asked to eco dealer to install a similar style head on the new weed eater. Tip, when cutting new cords from a spool, I used a snippers and cut at a 45 degree angle. that way they go into the thingy much easier,
This was an excellant video! I bought one of these at Walmart for my Ryobi, because the bump spindle head was getting to be such a hassle to use. I tried to unpackage it carefully (in case there was a problem with fit or performance) but that was impossible. The included instructions were very poor, so I was about to put everything into a bag and return it. Then I checked RUclips and found your video, and everything simply fell into place. The company that sells these things should award you with a percentage of their sales, because without your easy to follow instrutions they would be dealing with many customer returns. Thank you so much! Just as you said, this thing works terrific!
Just purchased one, and thanks for your tutorial easy explanation on how to install. Can't comment on unit yet, but can say you really have the ability to make a superb video. Thanks and all the best from New Rochelle N.Y.
I agree 100%, I have been using this Trimmer head for two or three years and I love it. I would never use a trimmer with a different head again. My trimmer died and so far I bought 3 different trimmers but returned all of them because this trimmer head was not compatible or removing the head from the new Trimmer was difficult. I just ordered a new Ryobi hoping that I can use my PivoTrim again. Thank you for the video
If you put the head on and realize you need to use a spacer, does the spacer go on first, then the washer and then the head or is it the washer the spacer than the head? Thank you for your time
Man thank u so much I have been dealing with trying to change out the head and this is the only video I found that should how to take the bolt off thank you thank you
I bought one of these because of your commercial, and the fact that it was too hard to reload the string on my bump-head . This is a miser on the string wearing out. There is a major problem with it. It tends to lay the grass or weeds over, rather than cutting them off. I have to keep going back and forth over the same area to get the job done. That takes twice as long as it does with a bump-feed head! I saw a demo of the Echo Speed Feed Universal 400 head. I bought one__ it works great! It is super easy to reload too! It takes less time to load 20' of string than it does to remove worn strings, then cut and load three pieces of new string for the PivoTrim (It was waste of money)!
I have used this type years ago. Eventually went with the "Shark" and the Tanaka. The Tanaka I can use .130 line for heavy grass. Rarely have to replace that line. The Shark, has steel blades on the outer edge. Takes care of any berry bush stock pronto where is a string will break.
Sounds like you are dealing with some heavy grass/brush. I would step up to something heavier than this head also if I was dealing with larger brush. I use this just for the lawn at my urban home. Thanks for the good info.
I have that same bump head and you are right, it's not great. It sometimes makes you really hit it on the ground hard to get the line to come out. Plus my red bolt on the bottom is all busted up. I will have to try this new trimmer head. Thanks for the video.
It's not the worst bump head I have ever used, but it's far from the greatest. There are some nice bump heads out there, but this new head really made me love it.
I have to agree. The Pivotrim is what I used to maintain 55 acres of cross-country jump course. I can't find one anymore. But I used One head for more than ten years. eventually, the pivot string holder broke and I replaced it. I lost it in the move to the new house. keep one if you can find it. Be Well and Good Journey.
I just bought one of these style heads yesterday and looking to install it shortly. I don’t mind the bump head that mine currently has, but with it having dual lines that have to be feed can be a little time consuming if the line doesn’t catch not to mention that if one line comes off or out, then you’re running one line and have to deal with that which is another pain and time consuming.
I am with you on that man, it's really great. Intelligent thoughts behind the discovery of this trimmer head. Kudo. helptul video. Thank you for sharing. Dan, Statesboro, GA.
Great instructional video. My Black Max didn't have two nuts just one. Used a pair of channel locks and a 17mm wrench to remove. Thanks for the great video!
I've tried a number of trimmer heads over the past few decades, & this one is decent. Echo Speed Feed 400 is by far the best, however. I can load 20 feet of line that will last forever in way less time than loading one of these pivot heads.
I put this head on an Echo 58 volt electric trimmer and it edges Bermuda grass around my driveway like butter. I keep the Speed Feed head as a backup but like the cut the WW hybrid gives me. I can use it in low speed and the battery lasts longer. I think having 6 cutting points vs 2 helps in my case
@@beachbumpkin That is like me, I love this head VS a bump feed, but I have not had too many great bumps feeds. I don't even have to change the strings on mine very often. That said, I have not tried the speed feed bump head and it's got me wanting to try it.

I heard that pitch before, it last forever it is fast to change, you can load a thicker gauge on it, blah blah blah. Here is the problem. Once it gets cut back a bit, you have to throw all that line and replace the entire thing. I had one on a new line trimmer (as they love them in South Africa) for pro usage and after 2 weeks I went and got a bump head. I hit some stuff like a stone and I bump and keep going, hit some dog shit, I do not have to be playing with that fix line
I understand what you are saying, and if I was using it as much as you for a more pro type head I may feel the same way. For me I can trim the whole house a few times before I have to even change it out. If I was doing 50 houses a day, I might feel different. If I was doing a lot of trimming in a more commercial type fashion, I would probably be looking for something I don't have to mess with very often and maybe a high quality bump head might be it. The bump head that comes on the Ryobi trimmers is not the bump head I would be using though.
Hello, It's my understanding that this Pivotrim fixed line head is only compatible with gas powered trimmers and not with trimmers that use a rechargeable battery. Do you know if this is correct? Would difference does it make? Thank you
Do you think that this could be used with an electric weed eater? I have a hyper tough 4.6 amp 13 inch cut trimmer and I also have tons of landscaping to go around to include fencing. I go through string like crazy so anything that would cut down on stringing that baby would be awesome!
I've had this head for a couple of yrs and didn't know how to install it. Didn't know I had to remove the long end where the other head fit on. I have no idea where that nut is. I'll see if I still have it. If not hopefully one of these stores has one. I've been using the areoflex head but want to use something else. Thanks for the video. And it has to be a backwards nut?
@@SeidelRanch I tried to install it but my Weedeater is a curved shaft. Figures! When I buy another I'll get the straight one and see if it works then. Still thanks for the video. Had no clue how to install that thing. Bought it for a deal from Walmart and it's just sitting in the garage...
@@SeidelRanch can’t believe how fast it was and that I didn’t have to keep changing the string it was amazing so glad you posted this video thanks again
Just based on pics from the website I would say probably not. This head is geared more towards the gas powered trimmers or the battery trimmers that use gas type heads.
@SeidelRanch I just bought a brand new ryobi string trimmer & the bump head doesn’t come apart the same way as the one in your video. I’d love your help with it if possible
This trimmer head is great. Does anyone know if there’s an adapter? I removed it from my gas trimmer and tried to hook it up to my EGO trimmer but it doesn’t seem to be compatible
When you buy it, the package comes with multiple adapters. If you don't have them you may have to get another one mainly for the adapters. Having a spare though is not bad.
Your vid made my installation easy for me thanks. But what your calling a bolt is a NUT!! see;; a metal rod or pin for fastening objects together that usually has a head at one end and a screw thread at the other and is secured by a nut
If you put the head on and realize you need to use a spacer, does the spacer go on first, then the washer and then the head or is it the washer the spacer than the head? Thank you for your time
I would put the spacer between the metal washer and the head. The spacer is probably plastic and would get beat up if the washer was not there to protect it I bet.
I purchased this head and really was excited about it. But the reality is the line breaks just as much. Maybe if you have a small yard or area to do that might be fine. But I have a very large yard and the line was breaking all the time. It also did not cut weeds near as good. It’s fine for just grass but anything larger it will not do the job. Also, I found that my ryobi gas weedeater ran significantly different with this head on. It was worse. Slower. Great concept, but for me it just didn’t work. I am going to try the echo 400. I’ve heard good things about it.
Sorry to hear you had issues with it. I don't have a huge yard to trim (1/3 acre) so it's great for me. I do know what you mean about it running slower. The head has more line to sling so it puts more load on the trimmer. I adjusted my trimmer carb to compensate for that but you don't have to. Is this what you mean by the echo 400: amzn.to/37EOvuZ? Let me know how that goes. I would be interested. I hated my Ryobi bump feed, but maybe it was a brand design issue and not a bump feed issue. Good luck.
Tips: Hydrate the line, put it in water for a few hours... (2) be careful around hard objetcs, (3) Do not force the trimmer, you are supposed to cut with the tip of the line not forcing the entire line into the grass you are cutting....
The Echo 400, became the Echo 450, and is now the Echo Speed Feed 500 (2023). Lots of people say it is the best trimmer head on earth, especially as it can handle the heavier gauge lines with ease (.105", .120", .130" and .155").
Will this fit the Atlas trimmer from Harbor Freight? Also, how does it hold up with edging (concrete)? The shaft on the Atlas is quite a bit longer, with maybe an inch of bare metal (no threads) at the base of the bolt. Maybe there are spacers with the PivoTrim? UPDATE: I finally got the PivoTrim installed on my 40v Atlas weed trimmer. WARNING: none of the nuts and bolts that come with the PivoTrim will work on the Atlas 40v (or 80v since it's the same head). I took off everything on the arbor bolt. I bought a 10m x 1.25 nut and 5 10m washers. I put the washers on, slid the PivoTrim on then was frustrated AGAIN. The nut does not fit the hex nut holder that holds the PivoTrim on! So, I removed my side wire cutters and snipped the little brackets (looks like bee hive walls) as much as possible. Then, I used my hammer to hammer the 10m x 1.25 nut down as far as possible. Lastly, I held the arbor bolt in place using a screwdriver and spun the PivoTrim until it tightened. I got it as tight as possible. Now, it works. I've used the trimmer in only my backyard using an entire battery charge! The grass (and weeds) were out of control. I'm waiting to trim the front as the batter charges. I would recommend NOT changing out the Atlas trimmer heads. The PivoTrim works great, but you have to take how much time and effort you're willing to give to this endeavor. Done and happy with the final results, but I think I'd just get a more powerful trimmer in the first place. Good luck.
Sorry, I was away for a few weeks. Glad you got it working and thanks for all the great info. I have never used an Atlas trimmer before. These PivoTrim heads are designed more for gas trimmer head replacements.
Would the increase in amount of line result in a greater load on the engine? That’s my only concern especially commercially when trimmers are run all day. Thanks!
I don't see much of a load issue, but I understand the concern. My cheaper Ryobi gas head handles it just fine so I would assume the nicer trimmers would have no issue with it.
There is far less line with this Rino than on a bump type system. You may actually get more RPM’s with less effort because the head is only spinning line that is cutting instead of spinning extra line as well.
Have been looking for one of these for my stihl here in England.. but they don't seem to be available here ? Do you know of any companies that will post to the UK? Thanks.
I personally hate Bumphead trimmer heads. And truly prefer these ones. Lie to do a quick change on the line. Does anyone know if this works with the Dewalt trimmers?
If it's the larger normal style trimmer, it should. I think the link I put had a list of all the style trimmers it fits. It will fit most of the standard gas style trimmers.
Make sure you soak the line in a container of water for an hour or so to prevent premature breakage of the line. You dropped a nut into the plastic, not a bolt.
Ah, I did say bolt huh. I wonder if my subconscious did not want to say wiggle that nut around. Nice catch. And good tip on the soaking. I have never done that but apparently it's a really good thing to do. Thanks.
If you put the head on and realize you need to use a spacer, does the spacer go on first, then the washer and then the head or is it the washer the spacer than the head? Thank you for your time
my father didn't believe me when I said its way better then the original head his echo comes with. he tried it and was amazed how the line never broke.
Great presentation very informative. I bought the same type of trimmer head, may not have been the same manufacturer but same principle, many years ago, mine has 4 pivot heads. It's so much easier to replace the lines! Unfortunately, my weedeater fell apart and am looking for a new, quality gas trimmer. Think Stihl or Husqvarna are the types I will choose from. Will the Pivotrim heads fit most of these? Many thanks again, for the demonstration and information.
This worked on my Ryobi 40v trimmer. I think it's going to to come down to the head that the trimmer uses. Is it an "electric type" auto feed head or a "gas type" bump head. My 40v had a gas type bump head on it.
I am not sure, but they do fit most brands and trimmer's it says. The 20v may be more like the 18v Ryobi and that would not run it. Check out the Amazon page to see what it says. I have the link in the description. Does yours have the same head as in this video: ruclips.net/video/eXBIL7Eg49Q/видео.html
What millimeter is the line? I just want to make sure I buy the right stuff in bulk. Thank you very much and I have the same exact weed eater by Ryobi that you do and I will be replacing it!
I use .095 line, but I think you can go even thicker on that head. The MFG says: "PivotTrim universal trimmer head accepts .080 and .095 diameter line" so maybe start with .095 and try thicker line later if you want it to last a little longer. The .095 line works great for me. Good luck!
@@SeidelRanch I just installed mine today and Wow! What a difference! My "bump head" wouldn't bump and sometimes I would open to troubleshoot and the line was stuck under itself. No more or that! I had your video playing on my phone the whole time I was doing the installation as a virtual coach lol! Thanks again!
Love how you keep calling a nut a bolt lol I also have one of these but it’s got 4 spots for string instead of 3. Sounds pretty cool with 6 or 8 string ends whipping around and yes these pivotrim heads are frickin awesome. Definitely superior to the old crappy and sometimes pain in the ass traditional weed eater head. With 4 foot of string I can do multiple yards and have enough left over for more
use a screwdriver sticking out of hole from narrow side. slide nut over rod or screwdriver and as you remove rod or screwdriver the nut lines up perfectly. Takes 4 seconds
@@SeidelRanch If it has a m10 x 1.25 LH thread nut it should. That's the shaft on the Milwaukee. I can't seem to find out if these kits come with that or not.
Not sure. I have not tried the 4 string one. If you get that one, let me know what you think. I think the more strings it has, the more load it will put on your trimmer. If you have a big gas one that may not matter, but if you have a smaller trimmer it may put too much load and make it run slower or eat up battery faster. These are assumptions though.
It seems to me that with the new head you are using 3 times the line to do the cutting than with the old 2 line head - hence the longer time between line replacement.
I do not know really. I would do a google search on the model you have to see if it fits. I think they list them all out on the Amazon page: amzn.to/3Agm55N or maybe more on the Home Depot page: www.homedepot.com/p/Rino-Tuff-Universal-Fit-Pivotrim-Replacement-Head-for-Gas-and-Select-Cordless-String-Grass-Trimmer-Lawn-Edger-17093/206470721

Hey I got the pivotpro head but its a gray one and it won't fir on my stihl fcs 56 rc because the reverse thread nut is different. Any ideas?
So none of the adapters in the package fit that threaded shaft?
@@SeidelRanch there were no adapters
@@CountBeetle Really? Did you buy it new? Mine had a handful of different nuts and bolts.
@@SeidelRanch yeah. Wish I could just find the right one
@@CountBeetle Sorry to hear that. Some trimmers just don't have replacement heads for them out there. We have a few like that.
How do you keep from scalping the yard? Since the depth is so much smaller than the depth of the original head......
It's a trimmer. There is no set height. You raise or lower it based on how tall you want the grass.
Hello, It's my understanding that this Pivotrim fixed line head is only compatible with gas powered trimmers and not with trimmers that use a rechargeable battery. Do you know if this is correct? Would difference does it make? Thank you
It works fine with my 40v ryobi trimmer. I think the key is that it has to be the gas style trimmers and not the small battery or plug-in ones.
Do you think that this could be used with an electric weed eater? I have a hyper tough 4.6 amp 13 inch cut trimmer and I also have tons of landscaping to go around to include fencing. I go through string like crazy so anything that would cut down on stringing that baby would be awesome!
Only if it's the type that can be removed. Many of the electric weed eaters have non-removable heads.
Yeah, the threads are backwards. I am not sure how to get parts for it really. Hope you can find that.
@@SeidelRanch I tried to install it but my Weedeater is a curved shaft. Figures! When I buy another I'll get the straight one and see if it works then. Still thanks for the video. Had no clue how to install that thing. Bought it for a deal from Walmart and it's just sitting in the garage...
does it work with 0.130 or 0.155 string line?
Thank you I love this new head thank you thank you thank you
You’re welcome 😊 I really like it too. Have not found a trimmer head I like more yet.
@@SeidelRanch can’t believe how fast it was and that I didn’t have to keep changing the string it was amazing so glad you posted this video thanks again
Awesome. Glad to hear you like them too.
Will this fit a kobalt 40 volt model 1040 b-03
Just based on pics from the website I would say probably not. This head is geared more towards the gas powered trimmers or the battery trimmers that use gas type heads.
Does it work with a right-hand thread?
Can you use regular 095. line ?
Yes, that works fine in mine. You can even go larger if you want, as long as it fits in the little spindles.
@SeidelRanch I just bought a brand new ryobi string trimmer & the bump head doesn’t come apart the same way as the one in your video. I’d love your help with it if possible
What model trimmer is it?
@@SeidelRanch I was able to remove the bump head! Thank you so much for your reply!!
Thank you, You made my life easier..👍
Happy to help
I generally don't like gadgets as they fix one problem but create another one? This one I do like it is to simple to fall!
I do like the simplicity of it.
TY for your video, what kind of line do you think works best ?
I use this line: amzn.to/44k2eyh but not sure it's the best.
Do you know if it would fit a STIHL battery machine #FSA57S ? The factory shaft is not threaded , the head is held on with a circlip .
I think this head works only using a threaded bolt. Are you able to remove the shaft on the trimmer?
@@SeidelRanch No , it appears to be the armature shaft with a key that prevents spinning .Thanks for answering .
Yeah, my brain cross wired during this video. That seems to happen to me more often then I like.
I used a nut on mine not a bolt and you dont have to remove the shaft to put new head on it comes with adaptor for it
Nuts, bolts, ... what's the difference 🤣. I did not know that about the shaft. Good info.
Mine won't fit my stihl.
Exactly I just get me some line and sit down and cut them to length myself. Way cheaper as well.
Yeah, works great that way. How do you like the trimmer head?
UPDATE:
I finally got the PivoTrim installed on my 40v Atlas weed trimmer.
Yes, it would be more load. Don't buy an underpowered motor.
Thanks.
Amazon has them, but not sure if there is an issue getting them to England.
I'm so glad he broke this down - teaching on a first grade level.
Glad it helped. Thanks.
How do i uninstall pivotrim it and replace with new one
If you are buying a new one, check out the instructions and do it backwards.
I was given a used weed eater with that head on it. What was the measurement you cut the new line to ? Thx
It's a little different for each weed eater, but start with 18 inches and see how well that works.
Does it fit a worx trimmer
I bet it would, but I can't say for sure. There are multiple adapters in the package to help fit it, but I am not 100% on Worx.
Thank you for your time
@@craighellberg4366I had a pivot pro gray version and it wouldn't thread on to my stihl right. Any ideas?
I don’t believe soaking trimmer line does anything. The plastic line doesn’t absorb water.
super awesome string trimmer head but if your not going near fences or walls metal brush trimmer is best
Thanks for the tip! I have thought about cutting some wire rope lines just to test that.
I have one but a different brand it take .105 diameter line works grat in thick grass
They are a great design.
@@SeidelRanch can you review the hybrid version ? ( brush cuter and string cutter)
@@cpsbandit6164 I would need to buy one and replace a head somewhere. I will see what trimmer I have that can take that.
Ok 105 don't fray like .95 especially when you get wire core line Husqvarna makes good line 😊@@SeidelRanch
Now here's a question: what about the same design setup but holds 0.155" line?
I bet you could stick some thicker line in there, but not sure about .155. The thicker the line, the more load on the trimmer.
Will pivotrim work on walmart HYPER TOUGH string trimmer?
I am not sure, but if it has a bump style head on it, your chances are good.
If you go to the four instead of the three you can run two (will increase RPMs) or four.
I like that. It gives you more flexibility.
my father didn't believe me when I said its way better then the original head his echo comes with. he tried it and was amazed how the line never broke.
Yeah, if you have the right yard and good line, this thing goes forever. I still use it all the time.
Can it take .155 line for heavy brush cutting?
Probably. The swivels that hold the line are pretty big.
Glad it was helpful! I do think those are pretty universal style trimmers so I bet it will.
Great video thanks you are life saver 🙌 😀
Happy to help!
anyone had any luck installing these pivotrims on a battery powered trimmer?? i tried and failed with my greenworks 40v
This worked on my Ryobi 40v trimmer. I think it's going to to come down to the head that the trimmer uses. Is it an "electric type" auto feed head or a "gas type" bump head. My 40v had a gas type bump head on it.
Thanks. I just bought one
Awesome. Hope you love it.
Home depot had the newer hybrids oon clearance, 8 bucks. I should have purchased on 5.. i didnt know the org price
Yeah, if I saw these on clearance again I would buy them all.
Will this pivo head fit on a 20v dewalt trying trimmer 2022 model electric
@@Chivalry10 Awesome. Hope it works great for you!
Will it fit on a Honda 4 stroke trimmer?
If it has a removable head, then odds are good. Most trimmer have a threaded shaft that holds the head on.
With 4 foot of string I can do multiple yards and have enough left over for more
I mix up words all the time because I have a screw loose.
It was killing me
Mine is the newer version and the nut won't thread onto my stihl properly? The stihl nut is a different size. How can I fix that
I like the speed feed much better .
I really like this one, but I have heard the speed feed is pretty good too.
Awesome! Thank you!!
Glad I could help.
is it possible to use this trimmer head on a WORX trimmer?
I can't guarantee it, but I would think yes. This comes with many adapters to fit most of the trimmers out there.
use a screwdriver sticking out of hole from narrow side. slide nut over rod or screwdriver and as you remove rod or screwdriver the nut lines up perfectly. Takes 4 seconds
Very good tip, thanks. I will try that next time.
Will this work on a Milwaukee string trimmer?
Not 100% sure, but I think so. I still have the horrible Milwaukee bump head on mine so I should switch it out.
@@SeidelRanch If it has a m10 x 1.25 LH thread nut it should. That's the shaft on the Milwaukee. I can't seem to find out if these kits come with that or not.
Will this work on an Atlas 80v
I am not sure. I would think yes, but you would have to take the head off and see what kind of shaft it has.
I see at Amazon they also have a 4 string head as well as the 3 string. I wonder why.
Can this be used on a Ego trimmer?
Probably. But I would check the details on the site to make sure.
It seems to me that with the new head you are using 3 times the line to do the cutting than with the old 2 line head - hence the longer time between line replacement.
I am sure that is part of it. I think the ability for the lines to pivot helps a lot too.
@@SeidelRanch I'm sure you are right about that as well.
Do you know if this would work on a Black & Decker? Or is there a B&D equivalent? Thanks

I am not sure, but you can check that link I put to see if it lists your trimmer. It does work on many trimmers.
USA made in Glennville, GA and Phoenix, AZ
Good to know.
Are the blades plastic or metal 🤔
Plastic. It's strips of trimmer line.
A good review.
Thank you. I do like that trimmer head.
