  • Adjusting valves on Kohler SH Series, SH265 6.5HP engine, this is usually done every 100 hours, or if you notice valve tick or the compression release is not working quite right. Thanks for Watching!!!

FYI - My Kohler SH265 maintenance manual, page 46 states: Insert a flat feeler gauge between rocker arm and valve stem. Recommended valve to rocker arm clearance for intake is 0.1 mm (0.0040 in.) and 0.15 mm (0.0060 in.) for exhaust. This is probably why it seemed off when you first started. Thanks for the video. 🙂

Great, easy to listen too. I would have liked to seen torque specs used.

Which is better to choose kohler sh265 6.5 vs vanguard 6.5? Is it worth paying extra for vanguard?

I don't have any "gasket in a tube" but, I do have rolls of different gauge of gasket sheets. I prefer gasket material because it gives you some clearance and a little room to torque things down, when the engine is warmed up. That's just me though and rarely had any problems afterward. Thanks for sharing.

I think you are using guide to stem clearance not rocket to valve clearance

Hey frank, on a briggs, can you tell me what the wires on the throttle bracket setup do? I've got an old updraft 11 horse that has no spark.

Finding TDC on the CORRECT stroke is key here and you do a poor job of showing that. You can have TDC on all 4 strokes but the compression stroke is imperative for this task. Kohler says .003 to .005 is the setting for BOTH valves.
