"Off with His Head" is a VideoSong, a new medium with 2 rules:
1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).
Oboe - Jocelyn Bentley-Prestwich
Clarinet - Troy Steinmetz
Trombone - Matt Payne
Trumpet - Andy Wilke
Violin - Anton Patzner
Cello - Lewis Patzner
"Off with His Head," composed and orchestrated by Jack Conte
Lyrics:
Off with his head, it's all for the best,
my eyes hang down with sorrow.
I moan and bellow for lost tomorrows,
gone away.
Off with his head, you lose what you bet.
Your will reigns down with terror,
oh feel the horror, oh see the fury
upon us all.
Lie in the sun - I keep my guard on --
cuz nothing ever comes when you expect.
Shoot all our guns, let's kill off our sons!
We've too much time,
and too much life,
too many precious days.
Off with his head, it's all for the best.
Your will reigns down with terror,
oh feel the horror, oh see the fury
upon us all.
Lie in the sun - I keep my guard on --
cuz nothing ever comes when you expect.
Shoot all our guns, let's kill off our sons!
We've too much time,
and too much life,
too many precious days.
Off with his head, it's all for the best,
my eyes hang down with sorrow.
I moan and bellow for lost tomorrows,
gone away. Видеоклипы
I read people in the comments saying that this music is like such-and-so, or such-and-such... To me, this piece of music sounds like Jack Conte. And that isn't a bad thing, either.
This songs seems like that it’s a story told during the black plague. And that is what hooked me.
Seeing this comment during the coronavirus epidemic really hits different
I thought this was about the french revolution
@@damianstevenson1201 That's what i was thinking
this song is yearning to be in a movie
No, this song is yearning to BE a movie!
jack
so so so amazing
I SUMMON YOU TO RETURN. IT’S BEEN 10 YEARS
Gosh Jack is so talented. I hope that he still finds joy in making music. Truly inspiring, creative stuff. Artists fueling artists. You go!
First few chords: ;-;
Starts singing: ;0;
This era of Jack's creative content is simply magical and by far my favorite.

@UncleWalter1 - There ARE some "secrets" to orchestration. But you can learn those from a book: various ranges of instruments, their sweet spots, their "colors," this kind of thing. In my experience so far though, writing for orchestra is no different than writing for piano or voice or a rock band. just don't be afraid to try - just do it. i had the GREAT fortune of taking an orchestration class in college, where i got to practice by writing a piece for orchestra, and that helps a lot, too.
Awsome
"This song isn't available in the United States"
;-;
+MindlessScribbles I meant on iTunes ;p
Apple Music? I have the same problem. smh
Shionnah Baker , I'm on an iPad and it works just fine with RUclips 😉
I was talking about iTunes, sorry for not being specific :,3
I honestly miss this dude his music is banger
He is in the band pomplamoose
this short of genius
Damn, this song is 10 years old?
Guess a good song never dies.
The entire song has such a resigned and relaxed atmosphere, like someone who knows terrible things are happening/going to happen, but has already accepted it, and even dances around, maybe even finding it all humorous somehow. Associations with someone about to be executed, or overseeing a massive wave of death from plague, war, starvation, as this dreary but somehow chipper song plays over horrific scenery. That trumpet at the end feels like the sole survivor, or perhaps Death themself performing for a decomposing audence. I am so angry I haven't discovered let alone looked into Jack's music sooner, this is so unfairly good.
I accidently love everything you do. Oops.
U dead bro?
This is one of my favorites Jack. I've lost count of how many times I've replayed it.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. I love the melancholy melody/harmonies of this, how the instruments you chose blends so well together and complement the music/arrangement, and combined musicality of everyone involved. Kudos all!
The amount of sincere beauty, sincere music locked behind these internet pages.
I didn't know I needed this song in my life.....
You can just... feel the emotion. With this one.
There is a simple beauty here, the purity of just watching musicians play their instruments, nothing snazzy or tricky, with a lovely arrangement and an understated and thoughtful lyric and melody. A wonderful creation all the way around. Bravo!
At last I found this song!
I've been searching on yt for it whitch i never found.
Turns out I just had to look for
"off with his head Jack Conte"
And whola! Suddenly it was there.
Boy, am I glad to find this!
I really love this song!
you're gonna hate me for this
It's voila
not whola
it's french
its okay, i hate myself too, sometimes
I'm still clinging to the hopes of videosongs for those last few vs4 tracks, particularly the outro tune.
at the beggining sounds like the zombies vs plants 1 music
+MindlessScribbles hahaha yeah.. well plants vs zombies.
Omg i have not heard of plants vr zombies in sooooo long
A CLARINET!!! YASS!! I PLAY THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need the chords.
+Test_Channel then buy the book.
So after listening to this a ton of times on youtube, I finally bought it but was bummed when I discovered you didn't have that solo at the end. It makes sense, but I just loved it at the end, so haunting and whistle worthy :D - Nevertheless, amazing work Jack. You obviously have a knack for this, and we all can see you love it :D
Jack come to Canada, we all love you here! Specifically Alberta or Saskatchewan, I live in Sask right now, but I'd go home to Alberta to see you play!
My spotify discover weekly lead me here, I really enjoy all your songs, I'm so grateful
amazing as always jack!
Great as always, Jack! Yayy!!!
he never ceases to surprise me, just when i thought i heard it all, he comes up with this gem.
One of my favorite songs from the album, glad to see the video!
I love this one
I will always come back here to listen to this. God i love it.
never quit music! you're awesome
Beautiful.
beautiful
OHHH I WAS WAITING FOR THIS.
I feel like he already shows us everything. It's a transparent process by design. Love the arrangement on this. Ghostly reprise at the end is fantastic.
That little bit of melody at the end sounds exactly like someone playing in another room. The first time I listened to it, I thought someone in my building was playing "off with his head" and I got all excited...
Caught the live performance on UStream tonight. Fantastic work, and sounds just as polished live, even given the web streaming dampening the quality. Bravo sir!
Wow, Jack. Amazing work. I absolutely love this! Can't wait to listen to it again when I get home from work!
@jackcontemusic I absolutely love the fact that you take your time to help fellow musicians out! It would be so nice if this leads to more people creating awesome music.
very fitting for whats on the news today
BUT, seriously, lovely! i love all of your music - once ive got some money ill be purchasing your album
Anyone thinking Alice in Wonderland?
Frebreze Sunkist27 yep
Frebreze Sunkist27 nope
Who couldn't? Queen of Hearts burns through everyone's memory
I enjoy all the great musicians in this composure
Just a beautiful piece. You have a vision...
Jack, that was different really really different and I dug it six ways from Sunday. Thanks for the music!!!!
JACK, you are just so awesome. never disapoint me.
This is so amazing! I love the orchestra!

Beautiful arranging Jack!!
"Where's my Jabberwocky!" XD
KahSing82
SHE KILLED MY JABA-BABY-WOKY?!!
I am unbelievably in love with this!
man i wish you got more recognition for this song
This is great all around!
the oboe sound soooo good in this song. Just weaving in and out... Great orchestration!!!
Dude you are so good
I am just hearing this now, I love it Jack!!
Keep being awesome!
That's an awesome song Jack ... another one ... I really like your compositions. Well done man, well done !
I love this!
@UncleWalter1 - also, the main thing is that if you want to MAKE orchestral music, it helps to LISTEN to a lot of orchestral music! Some of my favorites: Verklarte Nacht - Schoenberg (string sextet), Atmosphere - Ligeti, ET - end credits theme by John Williams, The entire Amelie soundtrack by Yann Tiersen, The entire Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack by Tim Burton, and lots more, too. maybe i'll do a more thorough blog about it.
very nice, i thoroughly enjoying watching you grow as an artist :D
I have never heard a Jack-Conte-Song that hasn't touched my heart.
loving it!!!!
Jack. You are amazing. The Orchestration is amazing.
Estupendo Jack!!!
I discovered one of your songs about 4 hours ago, and I've been listening to you since. I think im becoming obsessed! haha. Good job dude your seriously amazing.
Still listening?
Very well done Jack.
I've always admired you arranging! Absolutely Amazing! Also you vocal melodies are breath taking! Its a pleasure listening to your art! :D
Badass! Thank you so much for making sheet music!
This sounds _amazing_ at 1.25 speed!!
Nagh, rather it sounds like a failed sadness song because the band thought - "Now cmon, we can't die on stage. Let's add a bit of live tempo!"
Nah, sounds much better and creepier at 0.75
Eh it’s alright at this speed
Stop it with the speed if you wanna make it faster just cover the song
So good!!! I can't stop listening this music!!
love the oboe nice addition!
Brilliant piece of music, Jack. Kudos.

I received your CD yesterday ;)
Amazing!
I just bought VS4 a few days ago and it is SO GOOD! I love the variety in styles of songs. I've been listening to it almost exclusively since I got it. :D
This is one of my favourites of the new album. I really like the video, too.
I'm in love with the cello player!!
man... I would really like for yoy to so something like this again... so exquisite, so beautiful. Thank you very much for sharing your talent
I'm sure you are never going yo read this, but I like to somehow express publicly my love for your music and the huge piece of work which V2 represents to me :)
Love ya Jack!
AAH SO AMAZING. you are so epicly individual its just woowww
I hope to hear your music in cinemas someday.
This is fantastic!
This song gives me almost the same feelings as The Alan Parsons Project - Old And Wise. Sad and beautiful. I used to listen to it ... so many decades ago...
Beautifull!
I keep hearing “I am the son” instead of “lie in the sun”
Good track Jack Conte!
love it
You always have the best chord patterns.
I listen to this and i cant say anything bad about it its awsome i love it ur a genius
Excellent I love the way this song kind saunters its way along almost intoxicated like lol (if your not following my metaphors just listen again and imagine a drunk old man stumbling his way home after a long night) Love all your stuff!
awesome!
Jack, taking it to the next level.
that part with the solo horn at the very end scared me. reminded me of a haunted hotel from the 30's
Wow! This was different. And great! As always. (:
