A VideoSong is a new Medium with two rules:
1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).
Lonely Ghost by Jack Conte
Lyrics:
And on this casket's back sits a little lonely ghost. He misses his old lungs and wishes he had his throat, those good old days! Daylight will wash away. It's going to fade, yeah it will fade, and the darkness will take it's place. It's going to come, yeah it will come, so I'm grateful for this consciousness oasis that paints the darkest carpet with a sudden streak of white. We burn so bright!
I will swallow it whole, I'm going to run, yeah I will run until my body breaks down. I'm filling up, yeah fill me up. Fill me up!
Don't look back: you'll turn to salt. So just march on, let moments melt.
I'm awake. Wake up! Wake UP! I'm awake, I'm AWAKE! And I'll never piss that away. Let's be loud, let's love, let's make some sound! Let's make some sound! - Видеоклипы
man its just so crazy how real his songs feel, like raw emotion turned to sound. they're years old but their passion will always be timeless.
still though, i'm so sad i found jack conte's music so late, it doesn't even seem like he's still active.
you're too kind, thank you so much! I really appreciate the support from everyone, it's overwhelming. Thanks so much for watching and listening.
I gave this song a Like nearly 7 years ago, and upon rediscovering it today, I'm kinda mad I can't give it another like.
I know I'm three years late but I feel this comment on a fifth dimensional level
hey thanks, everyone! a few people have asked what instruments I'm using: and 1890's upright piano, a Martin Acoustic Guitar, a 1970's Hammond Aurora organ (for the bass), a glockenspiel, an accordion, a 1972 Wurlitzer electric piano, drums, and a dryer tube for my voice. Thanks for watching, everyone!
This song and "Eat" are my favorite. I need to buy that album again.
holy crap, everyone is so nice. thanks guys, it really means a lot to me that you're connecting with the music. seriously, thank you thank you. you make my day!
hey, yeah I did all the mixing and recording, but no I never went to audio engineering school. i was a composition major in college, though, it was fun. anyway, thanks for watching! glad you dig it!
this is all so emotional yet i dont fully comprehend it
Every one of your songs are amazing, Its a shame not more people get to experience listening to them
hey thanks. yeah i wanted a fuller sound for this song, so I had a lot more layers going on. glad you like the songs, man, many thanks!
Hope his songs blow up, he deserves it so much.
this beats most of the songs in the fucking charts
It Beats the other songs harder than a fall from a cliff would hurt if you didn't die on impact
Well said.
They're all good tho.
Saw this like 9 years ago, either donated or bought the song, today I find out you are Patreon's founder/CEO, wow!! 🤘
woah a week ago??
its great his songs still get comments from here and there
@@godzzwrath Hey I just found this guy in Spotify, can't stop listening to his music. This song reminds me of Radiohead mixed with Incubus
yeah, it is! it's a hammond aurora that I just got. i'm playing the bass pedals.
this song is really good he's so underrated iv'e known about him for about three years these songs are really old but gold
And the most interesting thing, at the time he don't really like the DAW's effects. I'm not sure what about now... He really busy with the patreon, but once he preferred a pipe insead of electronic. And i should say, that's really sounds good!
Hey man, it's a vox wah, with an EHX memory man delay, run through a tiny amp with distortion. Then there's a second delay and stereo reverb. That's the package!
For some reason that last verse always hits me in a profound way. I don't know how to explain it really but once it nearly drove me to tears and I still don't know why...
haha, hell yes, man! thanks! yes, I agree, there's a ton of great music out there, and for the first time in history, we have the power to cut out the middlemen. we don't have to listen to crappy radio anymore. the music world is changin, very fast. so glad you dig the tunes, man, many thanks!
dude, you guys are awesome. many thanks. Parachutes is one of my all time favorite records, so to hear someone even mention me in the same breath as coldplay is a huge compliment. THANKS!
Bro I'm so glad I'm going through my old playlists, this is so fucking good. Thank you for never taking this off RUclips, if you had I would never have heard or thought about it again.
Im still puzzled about how he makes his songs.
It's amazing
thanks! I hope you like the EP, it's pretty different than the stuff i've been posting recently, but i hope you still enjoy it. thanks for supporting! much appreciated!
holy shit didn´t know hw is the ceo of patreon that´s amazing i love your music
I've been listening to Pomplamoose for years, but have somehow never run across Jack's solo endeavors...I FUCKING LOVE THIS. Absolutely commensurate with Radiohead and Muse on an artistic level...It also evokes the raw emotions of Adam Baker's "Annuals..." I wonder WTF would happen if Jack and Adam [who lives in LA, last I checked] convened for a duo effort...Heads may explode in such a scenario. Love this!
hey ricky, I use final cut pro for all my video editing, and I use ProTools to mix and record audio. Glad you dig the songs, man! thanks!
hey man, well, it's a piece of foam. it dampens the strings and makes the decay time shorter. it also adds some cool harmonics to the sound, but mainly it dampens things up. thanks, dude! glad you dig the stuff.
This might be the only video/song on RUclips that I constantly feel the need to check in on annually. I remember listening to this when it first came out and connected to the creativity mixed with the raw emotions of this song. It's been so cool to see your RUclips career flourish and mature over the past 15 years, and this tune is definitely timeless for me
This is sending shivers down my spine. True art.
still in love with his old music in 2022
what about in 2023?
STILL @@thetruebro6433
I love that song! I was so curious about the chanting at the end that I played it backwards using audacity. It turns out he is saying "Wake up! Wake up! I'm awake I'm awake!" backwards. Pretty cool!
*Here's the lyrics*:
Left in the closet. Good old days, going through the lungs and throat! He AAA. Cold, no space is lost. Thus, but other issues, such as the color of the wood, the white carpet -susbaint. Lighting the fire.
I was lost until I ran. Recovery. Keep me Posted!
Looking back wasabi brine. Present and future
I love the taste. Watch out! Watch out! Yi! Hell, I do not know. Now the word confidence. At the same time, we agree!
*...after being Google-translated several times.*

"He AAA". If that doesn't describe my life, I don't know what does.
hey wordsareweapons (awesome name, by the way), thank you! so glad you connect with the music and lyrics. thanks for heartfelt support, it means a lot to me!
Jack Conte = Greatness
this was the song that made me a fan. thanks for all the songs, it's been a pleasure to be a follower of your work
This guy is pure musical talent. Nuff said.
Just discovered you, after one hour of watching, i just fall in love of your music and your world.
hey, thanks everyone! To answer your question, evry1sfriend, yes, Natalie and I just finished her new VideoSong, and it will be posted soon! Probably this coming week. Thanks for watching, everyone!
For those who mentioned finding Jack's music, this song is available for download on his mySpace along with 9 other songs (including some free downloads). Also the Nightmares and Daydreams album is available via iTunes.
Jack, you are a great rock musician. Rock on!
Absolutely amazing. Your best yet
Hey Jack! Lets get another video song for old times sake! Loved this stuff back in the day and still do!
yo, well the piano that's used in this video is a Wurlitzer 200 electric piano. So it's got a really dark and open sound already, I didn't have to do much to it. It was a popular piano in the 70s. (sorry i think i confused things by mentioning that I use the 1890s piano, which i didn't actually use in this particular video, just the other videos)
this is my favorite of all jack conte songs
He can hold a room with an acoustic,Don't underestimate substantial talent.
this song is still so cool, love your work jack
Now, I have seen everything! A "Leslie" effect using a dryer flex hose! THAT is creative!
i just discovered your music, but it truly is amazing.
every song i listen to is just better and better.
keep doing what your doing.
this is by far the most underrated song of jacks
Brilliant! You are destined for greatness!
Every song is just fantastic, more, more, more, PLEASE.....
This guy, Jack Conte, shows how much he enjoys and appreciates music and the symphony one can get from musical instruments to appliance parts. Awesome job. I enjoyed it.
I had this song in my head all night when I first heard it and then again as soon as I woke up. Took me a while to figure out the song that was playing in my head that morning. Apparently, I'm slow.
another great one! You never cease to amaze me 8-) I love the backwards tiny xylophone. It is an awesome sound. You don't hold anything back and I love it!
I love that bass, so clean and constant and moving. just great.
This song is so powerful. Thanks for doing all this fantastic job Jack.-
amazing.
just amazing. ESPECIALLY when he waves the tin around, such innovation.
You are unbelievable. I just purchased your EP from ITunes after seeing this video. Such a fresh sound with powerful vocals. Great sound. I look forward to more music.
Woot! Happy birthday!
Dude, awesome singing voice, its so cool you do all this by yourself (mainly).
Epic is the only word to describe your work.
This was my least favorite when I only knew the acoustic version but this one is just so rockin. I love the melody on the accordian. so good.
INSTANT FAVORITE RIGHT HERE
This is so awesome. Your vocals are awesome. This is just awesomeness.
I seirously loe your notes when you come back down from a high note...its so awesome.
YOU ARE AMAZING AND YOURE GOING TO BE HUUUUGE ONE DAAAAY JACK CONTE!
one of the best songs so far
Forget being just an amazing musician, video editor and all that other stuff, you are, above all, an absolutely amazing artist.
You have ventured into a realm that is challenging people's beliefs in every sense of the word - I can't imagine anyone else being able to write a song with a dryer tube and a accordion that would sound a tenth as good.
speechless
man, this stuff is amazing
god you're so amazing
i really hope more of your stuff goes up on itunes soon
i love this...
incredible song
Wow, such an awesome voice!
Jack.
THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
I'm in literal awe. I LOVED it, it was AMAZING. That blew me away. I'm going to replay it now.
The lyrics are fantastic. My GOD.
I hate to be annoying and saccharine, but that was absolutely amazing. 5 stars. Incredible.
x, Kai
this guy is amazingly talented and innovated. i love the fact that he has an acoustic but he uses pedals to make it sound like an electric
What creativity!
Such freaking amazing.
another great song.
well done Jack, I love the sound on this one.
love the dryer vent effect
Wow! Simply amazing!
dude your just amazing
your voice is LOVE
hope someday we hear more stuff like this buddy. this is one of my favorite songs of all time.
hey, the mic on the wurlitzer piano is a Neumann TLM 103. I use ProTools to record and mix. thanks! glad you dig it.

Again brilliant

Awesome lyrics about living life as fully as possible. Lovin' the image of painting the darkest carpet (eternity) with a sudden streak of white (life). Rock on!
You're an inspiration, really talented, c'est incroyable!!! Do you remember effects/pedal/vst you applied on your guitar to get this really nice radioheadish sound at 2:18? thanks dude for your great work!
Amazing song!

Awesome! Good stuff, I can't imagine how long it took for you to do this, but the result is amazing.
Why has no one heard of him? His stuff blows my mind!
... I'm in love with you... Haha, its the first song I've found that can rival my love for Radiohead which for me is saying something.
Refrain is killin' it!!!
