Too bad The Car Wizard only talks about three of his craziest customers. He's such a good storyteller that I could listen to him talk about 10 or more.
I worked as an assistant manager at autozone a number of years ago and we had a lady come in who claimed one of my guys had put a battery in her truck the day before and the steering just stopped working. Long story short, I look under the hood and find a cracked steering box that had been that way for some time. She was trying to scam us out of some money to get it fixed. Well she didn't like this explanation and decided to take a swing at me. Needless to say we got the cops involved pretty quick.
Conversely, when I was in a pinch and my wipers weren't working I dropped my car off at an autozone. The retarded snapon mechanic somehow diagnosed it as an ECU problem and told me it would likely be well over 1000 dollars to fix. I knew that was complete bullshit and decided to try working on it myself . Bought some new fuses for 35 dollars and it fixed my issue entirely. Fuck Autozone

Wizard is such a nice man, if only I lived closer my 04 Suburban with 240K on it, (I owned it from new) would make a good candidate for a video, as what happens when a vehicle is well maintained, it's hard to find trustworthy service out here in the mountains of Arizona. He inspires trust.
I love the reaction to the 2nd customer threat. Everyone can talk, but nobody takes action. Also I imagine wizard being in the army, he might have some good moves
The guy with the truck brings back memories. I worked for years doing car audio installs for a large national chain electronics store (that’s no longer around if that tells you which one it was). We would constantly have customers try to pull this kind of thing with us. The sad part was that the company would usually take them at their word, and ignore everything we as employees would say. The company lost SO much money paying for ridiculous things they never should have paid for. Come to think of it, maybe that’s part of the reason they’re no longer around…
Wizard is awesome, if I lived in the US & near Omega, I know that there would be no one else I'd trust with my vehicles. The professionalism and work ethic he has is incredible and really does inspire confidence from people.
The first time I saw the Wizard was when Tyler said to the Wizard “ I feel a shafting coming “ and the Wizard said “the shafting has just begun”. I was a Wizard fan from that day on.
There are few people in the planet who are as calm cool & collected as The Wizard!! His mechanical abilities are trumped ONLY by his exceptional demeanor.
The Car Wizard truly is a car wizard and he seems like a big teddy bear, but I'd bet a pretty good amount of money that the average person doesn't want smoke with The Wizard.... He's such a great mechanic and I love how much I learn from has a mechanic/technician myself.
All, right. Car Wizard is obviously the guy to build the Lemons car. Then get Tavarish, Hoovie, Ed, and maybe even Randy Pobst to drive... Need them to build a Lemons team, lol...
Some guests on the show tend to have a show off attitude, I wonder how much of their stories are "inflated". The Car Wizard is definitely not one of them. Seems to be a straight forward and matter of fact type of guy. Please have him on here more often!
The last story reminds me of the time i dealt with a customer with a hybrid Toyota RAV4 at the Toyota dealer i work at. C/S they there is a fuel smell in the cabin. It only had 3,000 miles so it was puzzling but it did smell like fuel. I eventually traced the smell to the rear seats. Removed the seat and boom! That whole area where the hybrid battery sits is covered in gasoline. Customer said they forgot they spilled fuel there last week, didn't specify how but i assume a jerry can. So the whole time they were driving with fuel vapours surrounding high voltage components.
I think Weezard has some really good business advice in there too, especially when it comes to dealing with customers trying to scam you. Sadly this seems to be more and more common anymore.
Given that this confrontation went down in greater Wichita, I can't help but picture "Well, let's get to it, fella" leading to a cowboy gunfight in the street out front of the -saloon- garage.
I worked for a Porsche dealership in Chicago and a Woman was watching everything I was doing. This really doesn't bother me, but I got to the point where I was going to check the timing and had attached my timing light to the engine and she approached me and said "What the heck is that for?" I actually enjoyed working as a mechanic for a car dealer. The thing that bothered me was that it was located next to a crematorium. They contracted for the city and they picked up all the natural deaths so if it wasn't a murder they collected them. Both of my parents are small business owners so from when I was little to now (24yo), they've told me so many weirdest/ "Karen" stories that I lean away from owning a business myself, albeit engineering (what I do) has its moments also haha
When I worked on large computer systems I heard all sorts of fairy tails on why equipment got damaged knowing full well it was caused by the customer and they were trying to get out of paying for the repairs.

Something about all these kinds of people talked about in this video just doesn't cease to amaze me. The "wild west guy", with his threats, reminds me of how part of me feels like I ought to load up my 380 automatic pistol and carry it in one of my cars anytime I'm out driving in my home town late at night, especially on a Friday or Saturday. I'm already keeping my nicer vehicles at home and thinking of an ideal beater to be out there.
Yeah but all of those were night drop offs and not recent either. So when you get to it the customers just going to say you did it. In a bad court case you will want evidence that tries to prove this is when they dropped it off. This is when my first employee arrived. This is when the employee checked it out and this is what they saw. If face to face with a customer they won't care.
Let's be honest, this is all a competition to become The Wizard's SECOND craziest customer.
