This hits me so hard. My father was a marauder under the cover of night disguised in his lies. One day I came home to find he was in prison. He robbed, looted, and stole anything he could find, I found myself under the pressure of the local police. They looked into my past and shortly suspected me of being involved with no evidence. He hung himself after three days in county. This song always makes me think. Thanks for writing this and playing it with such emotion. It really brings it home for me.

This guy was good only the way a tortured soul can be good. Music this Good only comes about after a sacrifice to the gods. I wrote before he died on his cod beer vid, he reminds me of a Townes van zandt, a Charles bukowski. It's very sad that his demon overcame him so early, but it's not surprising. I glad he left these gifts behind for us.
I just want to say about 3 days before this song was put on RUclips I had a heart attack at 24 years old from working 100 hour weeks doing construction (with a 4 year degree btw), drinking a 5th of Jameson a night, and doing whatever I could get my hands on before I checked in with the foreman at 7am. when I heard this song, 3 days later as i contemplated my mortality, it made me feel like I was still the hell raising bad ass that I'd always been. since then I've got married, had a daughter, and found a job I love and didnt compromise on for the sake of the daily grind. everytime I hear this song it reenergizes me and makes me feel strong in my convictions and love of life, as relentless and fucked as it may be.
Once upon a time, I was new to the road. I found myself in Slab City, CA. In 2016, I got the first tattoo I had ever gotten outside a professional shop, in a tent in that desert. It was a very meaningful tattoo for me and when the artist was done, I walked out of the tent, and the very first thing I heard was a fellow traveler playing her own cover of this song. I broke down and cried, right there in the desert, in the middle of the day. It was one of the most sublime and meaningful experiences of my life. I don't know if she'll ever see this, but if she does, I want to thank Chela for playing that song that day, right at that moment.
This is, LITERALLY, the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard in all 25 years of my life. My friend showed me this and I was floored. Floored. So much fucking emotion.
When RUclips was made, the creators had a vision of letting people like this be seen and listened to and watched all around the world for everyone’s joy. Now we watch people, watch other people play games on a console we most likely have our selves
This is like the sixth time I have watched this. It's simple and real that's what I like sad to know he died he had his 5 minutes of fame before he went I see this is soul music music from your soul somebody should do this over I have never seen anybody Shred on a mandolin I think he's singing about what he was living

keelan420 Of course I hope he continues/focuses on his own material but man that's exactly what came in mind - would be so awesome to hear him sing Dirty Old Town (Just wikid it and I guess it's not originally an Irish song but whatever, Dubliners and Pogues made it their own). I hope you found peace, brother. This song hit me in a way I wasn't prepared for and it truly brings me to tears every time I hear it.
I wish I was lucky enough to grace his presence for a great song. Come back one day and please stay or don't come back at all. Rest in peace friend I will always miss you brother
The amount of pain and passion that comes through you when you sing brother just makes me cry and jam out at the same time cheers to you my talented brethren

Well said
FACT....and usually don't stick around for too long either...😢
Tortured souls everywhere, if we lived, we are the folks that settled but stilled achived more than the normal folks can handle.
IMAGINE if Jesse jammed with Billy Strings. Two of the GREATEST pickers
Rip man, this was and always will be my fave version of this song. Your a legend and gone too soon. 🫶
God damn, my kid ran away and i was coming here to get some insight; leave with heartbreak instead.
Wow just found out you have passed. Your songs are brilliant and brought me such happiness listening to your talent. Rest easy! Love from Australia 💚

@@Just.A.T-Rex no, he's been dead a few years now
So sad that real talent always seem to pass away, rest in peace Jesse thank you for your music!
God bless you Jesse Stewart.
Jesse your missed brother. You know your music speaks volumes to people. Keep your head up brother and just know if u ever need anything we are all here
This hits me so hard.
Can't even imagine what to say man. Glad you appreciate it.
This man is so humble looking but so dope it is like watching Rocky play the mandolin.
I know this song now for a couple of years and still ... One of the greatest songs of all time
Bless and love brother
Damn, can feel so much emotion behind those lyrics. Even as he's singing you can feel it. ❤️ Rest easy!!
Jesse thank you ,this amazing song hits me hard and makes me wanna wanna cry live love fight fight, all at the same time please, dont let fame ever change what u are doin
donna carey Thank you so much
This guy was good only the way a tortured soul can be good.
Do you still drink?
@Fast Internet
There's no way in hell someone is drinking a 5th of whiskey a night while working 100 hours a week on a construction job.
Yeah buddy is tellin stories
@DB Cooper's MoneyBags
No.
You're uncle hasn't drank a 5th every night and worked 100 hrs a week for 20 years.
Nice lie though, boomer.
@@AZ-kr6ff you my friend are very wrong
I feel you Jesse! May you find peace wherever you are, and know you were loved by tons of people🥰
Once upon a time, I was new to the road.
Your passion is rare in this world. I sure as hell do appreciate you doing music.
This is, LITERALLY, the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard in all 25 years of my life. My friend showed me this and I was floored. Floored. So much fucking emotion.
Hey what are you doing here
LOL Hey :)
fancy meeting you here

I still come here when I need to remember. Much love.
your music gives me chills, the Spotify recordings dont do you justice, your facial expressions add so much ;)
I could listen to this dude all day
She’s in pure bliss 😊
I fucking love this guy.
RIP legend
Long live Jesse Stewart and his genuineness
Man he could really jam the shit out of that mandolin never seen anything quite like it

+Enclave The radio (in the US) will never play something like this.
It is not cookie cutter shit.

Hi Jesse, I'm nine years old and in fourth grade and I adore your music! My dad is the one who introduced you to me and I feel so blessed to be able to listen to your music. Me and my dad have been practicing, and he plays the guitar and I sing. I hope this made your day! Bye!

Rest in peace to one of the true artists to have such an impact on my life ❤️❤️
This dude was special, he could a actually made waves and instead he fucking died on the streets without a penny. He's like Vincent van Gogh of the Folk/Punk scene. I'm so glad that an army of people mobilized to find Arlo and get her back home safe. Every year I come back to pay my respect to performances like this, he was so raw and just like bursting with talent and everyone around him had to watch him fall through the cracks. A really, truely sad story, Jesse almost made it too. Life is a bitch sometimes when you're poor.
“My mother said to me , as I turned to leave , boy , demons bereaved you so , go if must go , love you more than you know “

Think this one might be better than cold beer
you're the man! I wrote it ! stoked on it tooo
Oh wow man did not know it was original that makes it even better I'm from Canada as well.
Its a top 3 for sure but cold beer is definitely #1 by a long shot! This guy plays with such intensity. Better than most mainstream artist today for sure!
@@cameronb24 His lyrics are better than cold beer but i agree he hit the right notes less in this one but it might be nerves performing an original piece. He's a badass either way.

I always wonder where the dislikes come from on videos like this? Are they trolls? Mis-clicks? There's no way anyone could hate this
It's catchy as fuck, even if you don't like the style you would have to realize it's good. There is tons of genres I don't like, but I will hear songs that are catchy/giod. People who only like Certain style of music are weird.

I've seen Days n Daze, had the opportunity to play a show with Dirty Kid Discount, both are great, but this is the song I'm constantly listening to and sending to people. you've got a gift, very few singers can sing from the soul. Of course I hope he continues/focuses on his own material but man that's exactly what came in mind - would be so awesome to hear him sing Dirty Old Town (Just wikid it and I guess it's not originally an Irish song but whatever, Dubliners and Pogues made it their own). Raglan Road cover would be another one that I'd love to hear him sing in the atypical high tempo/hoarse melody.
Thank you for helping me cry, I haven’t felt anything since i was diagnosed with schizophrenia
