I started riding a motorbike on my friends farm when I was 11 years old, here I am, 52 years later and I'm loving my Ryker Sport and enjoying it as much as I did two wheels. That might shock a few peopple or raise some eyebrows, but there's a reason. I had a partial leg amutation in 1986, but within a year I was back on two wheels. My fun was short lived as a house purchase, an expensive blonde and two kids curtailed my activity with financial restrictions and time limitation. What I didn't know that was to come was more damage to my body, I had a fall at work in early 2008, which left me with more permanent and increasingly debilitating conditions. I damaged 4 joints in my spine, leaving way for a condition called DISH to cause chronic pain and restrictive movement, plus neurological weaknesses affecting my entire lower half. In October 2016, I had 2 seizures in two days, which left me with a large chunk of memory missing and my brain reset itself back to 1984, so what I had in my head between then and the day of the incident. For 3 months I didn't know who I was, had any idea that I'd had an amputation, bought property, had kids and done so many other things erased from my memory. In January 2017, only a few months after the seizures, my ex decided we should split up, so I decided with having to restart my life from a loss of memory point of view, I would restart my life from a personal view. I got out within a few days, because of my situation, the local housing authority put me on the top of the list as regards housing and after a couple of days staying with a friend, I was given a bungalow that had been adapted for someone with disabilites, since then, I've never looked back.
In summer 2022, I had the opportunity and the finances to get back on the road, but I faced a very big problem, I'd lost all the memory retention, muscle and strength in the remaining residual limb, so if I tried to hold the bike up, I physically couldn't do it. Not wanting to put myself and other road users at risk, I took the big decision to curtail my two wheel career (which I enjoyed and got a great deal of pleasure from), sold my bike and bought a Canam Ryker. Yes it's different and handles a million miles away from a two wheeler, but it's given me the chance to get back on the road, safely and without any worries or hindrances.
I exact a massive amount of pleasure, freedom and can go anywhere I want without restrictions and within my own physical limitations apart from trying to use it in ways it's not meant for.
In simple terms, I'm back on the road, loving life, enjoying every minute I'm out riding and no matter what the weather conditions, I feel like I've been reborn and given a second chance at life and I'm certainly making the best of it.
If you want a Ryker/Spyder through choice or physical restrictions and can afford it, get one, if you can ride a two wheeler and can afford it get one. We're only on the planet for a short time, so why not make it good one!
    Alan.

I’m an older ex biker who’s lost his confidence with two wheels. I have a car (boring) and a quad for taking time off in the woods and on dirt. At the moment I’m looking at a Ryker sport to add some storage to, so that I’m able experience the open road locally and do some touring down to and around the mountains. Im considering selling my 05 Rav4 and buy one of these Rykers. I only drive 10-15miles a day, I work 5miles up the street and barely travel outside my town. Don’t have the confidence or balance for a 2 wheel bike, and I don’t have the money for the CanAm Mavericks. This looks like a happy medium, I’ll have to take a test drive this summer

I bought a new 2020 Ryker Rally in 2020. I liked it in the beginning and then I starting finding all the defects. Long story short, I kept it for 15 months and traded it in. It was just to many problems to keep getting repaired. Wasted a ton of money with Slingmods. I bought a 2021 XSR900 and have been very satisfied every since. Perfect edition to my pair of cruisers.

While I loved my little Can Am Ryker Rally... I just felt very uncomfortable when coming up to a stop. Now we all know motorcyclists in general are small targets which no one is looking for but when you are sitting at a stop between a cars you are really vulnerable to that rear end collision with no escape unlike a motorcycle where you have 2 wheels at least you can scoot between cars and not get hit. I started with Harley and I'm sure when I get to an age where I cannot ride I'll just convert one of my Harley's into a trike. Don't get me wrong... the Ryker is a great little reverse trike plus it's a twist and go with one foot brake to control all wheels and you never have to worry about putting your foot down for a stop.

    • @SIRyker

I'm interested in a ryker 600 just for tooling around town and carrying a passenger
its a lot cheaper sounds better and I think 600 should be all I need at 200lbs for a smaller passenger
the 600 also has the highest carrying load capacity out of any of the ryker models ironically too

@SIRyker yup different engine same frame. I guess why the 600 is slightly easier to work on too and maybe accounts for the higher load capacity since it's already carrying less weight
Although I would have guessed the varying suspensions might have impacted such as well
not according to can am website
I think all things considered the sport is actually a good deal relative to the 600

I've surprised some people with how quick the rykers can be once you start tuning and modding them. But out of the box from Can am.. way to slow and conservative.
Also, if you don't do most of the work yourself, I can see how it can get annoying and costly. The Rally is a good concept, but soooo limited in how you can actually use it to full ability.

    • @SIRyker
      @SIRyker  9 месяцев назад

I hate to say it but yes. It also depends on the year. The Ryker is a newish model so bugs and supply quality control had to be worked out. I think most of the problems have been worked out by now. Many of the problems have been from the sensors used. The Spyder is an older platform and i haven’t seen a lot of complaints as to reliability.
