I was going to make a tribute video for him, but realised he is used more as a character that's there to support the main characters - most of his lines are of him taking orders or providing information.

Let’s face it: Cody and Rex are the clone versions of Anakin and Obi wan
Cody is more of a straight arrow than Rex was. Obi Wan and Cody did things by the book. Rex and Anakin often did things unconventionally. This is probably part of the reason Rex looked into Fives death and Cody didn't.
@@firingallcylinders2949 Fives is also Rex’s subordinate. He was in the 501st, not the 212th. As his CO and friend, of course he would look into Fives’ death. Not to mention that he was there when Fives died.

@@memescoffee3173 I'd say it had more to do with the fact he was very far away from Kenobi when he had to execute it, he didn't have to look him in the eyes like Rex did with Ahsoka.. And at the end of the day it's physically impossible to disobey Order 66..
Man, it's sad that Cody got only 17 minutes of dialogue of hours upon hours of the show and how he ended up obeying Order 66. Oh well.....

I thought I heard somewhere that the show creators deliberately gave Cody minimum character development to make him less likable on account of Order 66, and favored their own characters, namely in the 501st.

@DarnellOB98 His characters Echo and Wolffe have far less screentime then Cody. Fives also has a little less. Cody has 1 hr of screentime, which is the 2nd most screentime. Only Rex has more with 2 hrs and double the episodes. With all Cody scenes, you could just fill 3 full episodes. With all Rexs scenes its only 6 full episodes. I honestly couldnt believe that its that little, before I looked it up, for both characters (all excluding season 7)

That's why I kinda dislike The Clone Wars. They HAD to implement the story arc of the bio-inhibitor chips, for it to make sense for Cody not even to hesitate killing Obi-Wan. In Legends, Kenobi treated his legion as if they were just droids, not even really human. In fact, Anakin was the only Jedi that didn't treat his troops that way. This show made Pong Krell the exception, when he should have been the norm. It made the dynamic of the Clone's story quite a bit less tragic, which took away a lot of its value in my mind.
@@Ramseas119 Well your dumb for valuing legends over intended story. Even in the third prequel movie we see obi-wan is respectful to cody. Plus, it would be out of character for the jedi to have been assholes.

It's a shame we hardly got to see him in the Clone Wars. I recall reading somewhere that Filoni did this to avoid people getting attached to him, knowing he obeys Order 66.

Codys hand to hand tho kicking droids in the middle of a charge and his uppercut on slick damn. My favourite clone (no offence Rex). But Codys so underused. Like he lead the 212th at the battle of sarresh where Gregor went missing. He was outnumbered and yet still won. Although with 97% casualty rate.

I really wish we'd seen Cody more. Getting attached to him would've been good knowing he performed Order 66, despite what Filoni thought.
I also hope we see him on the Empire's side in Rebels.
It would have been much darker and emotionally painful for fans if it happened that way. I respect Filoni's decision, but that extra dark element would have definitely made the show more memorable.

I mean come on. Cody had the second amount of screen time, next to Rex. I deffinetly think we should have seen more in the later seasons, but cody still got a lot. I think hes like top 15 out of all characters.

@@Shadow-es1gk Do you mean as a clone trooper? Because it's more about actually having a character be meaningful, than just having them appear a lot. Fives shows up less yet has a bigger impact. That's what I mean by seeing more of Cody. Just qualifying all the times he was in the background and said some short line doesn't remotely count.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the writing and voice acting. Even though there all the same actor they each have such a distinct voice. Cody is very by the books and straightforward and his voice shows it

I never understood why they fistfight Droids and almost never lost. Like, they are beating on pure Metal probably even denser than normal metal for durability and just pass on like nothing happend. I understand that they are really trained and experienced soldiers but they still have bones that can break. Also I don't understand how a simple kick or push "kills" a Droid.

It’s intentional. He’s a character close to the Jedi, but he’s not like Rex, he’s a by the book guy and will follow any order no matter what. He was never a definitive ally like rex. Hence why he’s never by their side on just about every single mission like Rex is.

As a comedic duo, Cody is somehow always a straighter Straight Man to Kenobi’s Straight Man. Which is pretty damn impressive.
Being one of the clones who followed Order 66 should have been *the reason* they gave Cody more screentime. It would have hurt more to care about him even knowing he'd turn on Kenobi.

TheRussianBajur He was busy with the 187th (Mace Windu's unit) and other units during the Outer Rim Sieges, while the 501st split and went their own way. After all, the Battle of Sarrish was pretty damn tragic for the 212th (and Gregor).

Interesting how Dee Bakers acting improves as the show progresses. He does a good job the whole time, but the clones sound a lot more similar at the beginning. Later in the show it’s much clearer that he has slightly different sounds and mannerisms for each clone trooper.
