It’s more of SA awareness and it has something to do with people speaking up about apparently and it’s so realistic to me I had a friend who went through the same thing and they wanted to commit suicide too so this really messes with my brain everytime I watch the series over
Bathtub scene and the Tyler's bathroom scene are the most traumatizing scenes of this entire show. Giving Bryce a redemption arc was the downfall of this show.
Because although he was the worst people can change. Not up to us to decide who can be redeemed. He should have been held accountable but taking accountability, apologizing, and changing your ways is a good start for anybody
@@OEscolgido In a world where 97% of rapists will never see a day in prison, absolutely no rapists should be getting redemption arcs in mainstream media. You don't get to come back from being a rapist.
To me the series needed a proper ending after season 2 but it didn’t need two more seasons, I feel like season 3 and 4 should’ve been put together and cut out unnecessary plot
The first season I started watching as I went through the toughest time I had ever gone through. I was drinking heavily, and watching this show made it worse. The bathtub scene was brutal. Combined with my deep depression and extreme alcoholism, I attempted to overdose on pills. My dad found me and got me to the hospital in time. They gave me narcan and put me on a psych hold. That catheter was hell. It was a long road to recovery, both mentally and physically. I learned a lot about how to deal with depression. The most important rule is to never allow yourself to pile onto those feelings. If you're down, don't use substances, dont associate with stuff to match that energy, and focus on physical health while emotionally down. Gym, good sleep, healthy foods, and good outlets.
I don’t know you and I am sorry. But I am proud of you. The world is a better place with you in it. Sending a giant virtual hug. Sorry if this was weird.
Frr it’s because they make him seem like a ass in the beginning just to turn out as one of the best characters just for him to be killed off by aids I think that’s what it was if I can remember
13 reasons why should never have been made into a show. The book in itself is essentially revenge from the grave. Hannah Baker was going through a lot, but she had no right to make those tapes and have her friend Tony distribute those tapes to the haunt and taunt the people she blames. That is sick and it did make copycat suicides. Jay Asher, who is the author of the book has had some accusations against him that I think have been proven true. The writers failed to tackle the sensitive topics, especially displaying the bathtub scene. That will be forever seared into my brain and it actually is still available if anyone owns the DVD or Blu-ray of the season one run of the show. When Hannah does that and I was a young adult watching it I had been out of high school for I believe a year. And it was hard for me to watch. I can’t imagine being a teenager and seeing that. And then you have the sexual assault of Jessica, the sexual assault of Hannah and then the sexual assault of Tyler. Each one was handled poorly. Especially Tyler‘s because it was traumatizing. I don’t know what kind of exposure therapy. This is wrong kind of talking to or talking down to the writers were attempting to do. But it did not work. If anything you just traumatized your audience. This show became nothing but torture porn for some people. Because every character is always suffering. In an attempt to tackle serious issues that people face in their youth, you manage to scar them instead of helping them. And I see kids who are now young adults talking about how much they hated that show and how much that show really traumatized them when they watched it and how much they didn’t even want to watch the show. There’s nothing good being said about it. They should’ve stopped at season one.
the show is meant to raise awareness and make you feel bad for victims which we of course do, but man idk why they had to make hannah so unlikable. The purpose is still there and effective but I just could never understand
As someone who is depressed, has been depressed since middle school, and doesn't have any in-person friends currently… NO ONE IS DIRECTLY AT FAULT. The Assaulter and the bullies are assholes, they are bad to despicable. But none of them *made her do it*. Nobody handed her a knife and said "do it". I am saying this as someone who has been bullied for the entirety of middle school and, as I said, has been depressed ever since. No one but Hannah *directly* caused her death. And if she genuinely wanted revenge or soemthing, she should have directed that at the bullies and the rapist, not the people who made off-hand comments or had misunderstandings with her. Obviously its always tragic when someone ends themself but she does sound insufferable.
@@SolanersRevengeeYhh Riverdale should have ended in season 1. As far as they should have gone was season 2 anything after that was completely unwatchable
Trying to blame others for your s**cide in the first place is the definition of not taking responsibility nor accountability, which is exactly what every politicians and Karens do these days 😏.
Season 1 was arguably one of the best Netflix shows up to that point. Season 2 had multiple issues; Zack (according to his testimony) should’ve had a bigger role in season 1, the whole bathroom scene was unnecessary, the clubhouse/ Polaroids wasn’t been covered in the previous season, Hannah’s father apparently having an affair not being covered, the school being found not guilty, nobody asked for a second season Season 3 they tried to give Bryce, the worst character in the show, a redemption act. Jessica was horrible in this season, Annie’s character was annoying, the abortion scene was disgusting, they tried pushing the LGBT agenda too far this season. Netflix was milking the show for Season 4. Diego was never mentioned in the past 3 seasons, school shooting scene was not needed, Clay was mentally unstable and later revealed as the one who vandalized the school, and Justin’s death was not necessary. Thanks for listening to my Ted Ed Talk
I think people complain about the show a lot when it really wasn’t even that bad until season three when they try to give a rapist a redemption arc. That was absolutely insane to me and they tried to make it seem like Bryce didn’t deserve the way he died, which was completely false. In my opinion, Bryce deserved everything he got After getting arrested, and quite frankly, he should’ve gotten more vitriol.
18:41 it's always that one girl in every movie and show to protect herself in her small reputation she will just destroy all the evidence just to protect herself

I've been talking about rewatching this show for a while. I enjoyed all four season even though they got off the main reason of the whole show. It also showed what it was like for the other dealing with things after Hannah's death and finding their own paths. A lot of people getting gRaped and assaulted was crazy though
Should’ve been a one season show. They ruined the impact of the first season when they kept going. S2 I can understand, but S3 and S4 were overkill and lost the plot.
5:52 this is how far I got I couldn’t take anymore of the cry baby stuff Hanna is a Jackass who wants to make other feel guilty for the nonsense she got herself in
This show was about Hannah and why she took her life the rest is irrelevant they Should’ve ended the show in season 1, also Bryce redemption… really? After what he did? Yuck.
The show was actually about clay with Hannah being the main storyline.. if it was so bad why are you revisiting it to shit in it more. Just don’t watch it? Lmao
By the time season 3 and 4 rolled around the writers had just starting throwing darts at a “potential teen crisis” dart board and… wait for it, aaaand yep AIDS. “What are we filling today?” *throws dart* “looks like gay romance is back on the menu.
