    I like how you left a perimeter of steel for the panel to attach to. Keeps the rigidity, but by replacing the largest panel section you get massively weight reduction. Keep up the amazing builds, guys!

    Great episode! I’m just getting ready to install these same latches into the carbon fiber hood of my ‘89 Trans Am GTA road course car! I’ve been agonizing over them for weeks!! It’s a custom hand laid hood (one-off) that cost me an embarrassing amount of money, so screwing it up is not an option! THANK YOU!!!! You’ve given me the nerve to do it!👍

      Nothing wrong with a carbon fiber hood if you have the money....A quick glance says carbon fiber is 15% lighter than fiberglass. I think if someone made a fiberglass hood (& other body parts) that was cheaper than a steel hood. That'd be the way to go, since it's gonna be cheaper than a steel & way cheaper than CF hood but almost as light.

    thanks for the content 95 percent of the content is money. And I’m a loyal viewer watch every time.
    on to the bad news
    Eh, ie, eh, ie, 🫨 the trunk lid latches. ?
    My head is spinning, what was the philosophy doing the latches the way done in this episode -vs- a hidden single latch, OEM/stock style ? and hide a button some where under the bumper ..easy , peasy
    Man so much geometry in that job I don’t think I could pull that off the first time…I deff would have to have another carbon fiber trunk lid, as back up lid.
    I guarantee I’d mess up the first trunk lid……maybe even the second carbon lid.
    I feel like a lot of important steps in this install was edited out.
    …..I get it, it’s tv but damn that was …. Common shoot us viewers straight Carcus guys… Plz

      I don't , as little of the real car they are using they didn't need to start with the best looking Camaros ever made. It's a race car so they didn't even need a title. Just goes to show people suck. Hell only thing that's going to be left of the real car is the roof, don't need to cut up a rust-free 50 year old car for that.

      @@bobroberts2371 that's my point, is a " real" car it was savable. Could have used a replacement body race cars don't need a VIN number. I am from the rust belt and other than title problems I see nothing on that car that couldn't be fixed.

    What was the weight difference for the deck lid and the quarter panel steel compared to the carbon fiber

  • @captainsledge7554
    @captainsledge7554 5 месяцев назад

    I always thought carbon fiber panels looked stupid and pointless till I bought a 240sx body that had all carbon fiber exterior panels besides the roof. I dropped my track engine in (642hp LS3 CD009 combo) I wrecked my track car by driving on the street lol sometimes u forget the difference in grip between a track and pavement. Anyways man that car felt insanely light and agile. Eventually I got a chance to drive another 240sx. And it felt like a yacht lol
    So now that I'm starting on next year's body... I'm here learning to do this myself
