I like the fact that guys are sharing their ideas online like this. If I could change one thing, it would be to ditch the 1.6 rocker ratios for 1.7. If you don't pick up improved head flow from that, on a modest duration cam, then you have cylinder heads that aren't worth using. 1.7 ratio does increase effective duration but only a tiny bit. There is a reason so many GM crate engines don't mince around with 1.5 or 1.6 any more. The same scientific principal applies to big blocks. Yes, the 1.7 is not in the catalog, but you guys already had a custom cam made, so why not have T&D make your rockers. They just borrow the heads for a month. No extra charge.

Not bad for a VERY conservative, build, but those 240 heads, out of the box intake and pedestrian camshaft, belong on 440ci pump gas deal. Not on a 512. If you're going to build an engine that small (4.25 stroke), out of a 10.720 deck height block, the head should be the Indy 440-1, with the Indy intake and a camshaft to match. The Max Wedge port window is a must on a stroked 440/400 unless it's for an extremely low rpm land yacht.
Why do I say this??? Because I ran a 4.380 x 4.375 combination, with the 440-1 head/manifold, 11.2-1 compression, a camshaft that made peak power at 6700rpm and made 811hp and 696tq on 93 octane, with a 1050 dominator carb. I drove it around like gas was free and ran consistent 9.40s at a tick over 3400lbs.

I have a Mopar 360 that's bored, stroked and internally balanced to 408ci. I got a good deal on it, so why not. I want to build it for performance daily driving and retain the 89 octane requirement. I can appreciate videos builds like this to put in perspective what I'm trying to do.

Why did the carb make more power? Wish they would have discussed that. I would assume that the FI would provide as much fuel as the carb and the fuel delivery looks great, so why the difference?
