Pat: *nerding out over engine tech*
Jimmy: "uh huh. yeah."
I was thinking that he has no clue what Pat was talking about every time he brought it up LOL
He needs more pens
I would not let Chevrolet TOUCH my Chevrolet ! Evan know it's all about a Ford ever since I started watching these guys !
The “please don’t blow up” eyes in the dyno 😹
I was sitting there on the close up...."BOOM!"
I bet every one of those pens in his pocket could tell one hell of a story.
Yeah. Digging for dingleberries
I don’t even wanna know said story’s 🤣
this $27,000 big block is perfect for this project....
$27,000 engine. $700 roached and rusted out squarebody wrecker. What's not to love? lol.
Seriously though I do like that project idea. Nothing I'd ever do but when somebody else is paying for it you can afford to do the goofy stuff. I've got a few squarebody Chevies myself but they're all bone stock.
I love these guys budget builds reason why I dont watch anymore
632 Long block from Blue Print Engines is $12,499.00
@@rgbigdog Someone always complains about the price of the projects. *Always*. Just ignore like most of us do.
@@hawkdsl Only when they claim it is supposed to be budget friendly. This is not the case. Otherwise yes. I would mock them for making that claim.
I know everyone loves to see peak numbers from the dyno but having the torque levels at highway rpm 1800-2300 would be really helpful on street builds.
I like Power Nation complete embraced RUclips
The hair gel budget has gotta be close to $3k per episode...
That's drain oil bro. This man recycles!!
They do need a new hair do
Makes me ill to see there LOOK on fashion
When you by bulk it gets cheaper
Probably from ARP.
Can't get enough of pat man I wish I could meet him in person. I learned a lot from these videos and they are always interesting.
Let’s be honest, some may balk at the general change in episodes, and the interaction, and dynamic... But these are good episodes. The Carcass guys are getting into a great stride after a few stumbles early on. The Engine Power guys are getting more personal, more “Every Day Guys” and the dynamic is something we all would love to have. This is good entertainment, Thanks #Powernation
Nice they're doing RUclips specific bits. Doesn't feel like an ancient episode lol.
These are old episodes.
I am pretty sure when my wife talks about me to her friends, it sounds just like Pat about this motor!
Funny.. my wife talks to me about her yoga instructor with the same enthusiasm!
Hehe
I don’t have American muscle cars in my garage, but I just love these videos. Love V8s
We are living at great times! Way more power than the 1960's "muscle car era" and we get to enjoy this before the Electric age mandates and everything sounds like a vacuum cleaner
Nothing folds as easy as an old Chevy truck hood lol
I don’t know anything about engine building. But I still really enjoy watching all episodes.
632 Is As Perfect Build As It Gets. Streetable All Day Long With At Least A 3500 Stall In Betty Tranny AND WITH 1 CARBURETOR!!!!!!👍🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
$15k motor is perfect for anything it'll fit in..
exactly, they just had this in the "archive" . this dude doesn't even have to wash his hands after building an engine. Not the typical engine build for the average guy lol
it'll fit in a Miata, i think the Coyote is physically bigger n wider than this BBC.. n BluePrint Engines sells one starting at $10k-$14k..
engine power and Detroit muscle are my favorites (pat and mike on engine power) provide the technical aspect. tommy and marc are entertaining. Truck Tech is cool too.
Nah. Cajun man on Trucks is annoying.
Whatever show these two have, (I can never remember it's name), is just terrible. Mike, Pat & the one bearded guy from D.M. are fun to watch. Tommy, he a bit hillbilly for Me...
@@dumbestoyster I think it's Carc Ass!!
Mikes been around for years he can’t get a word in for pat 😂 👍
If you put a big block in your life. You will feel great
CHEVY engines are the perfect fit for all!!!!
Not all cars
Some mopar and Ford engines are good too.
Pat knows more about engines than I know about cars in general.
Pat: starts spitting things about the engine.
Jimmy: understands it.
Also pat: start spitting numbers.
Jimmy: •_•
WOW 😧DUDE😳🤩! Holy 💩850hp 750ft/lb. torque. That’s freekin’ awesome. Sounds beautiful too. That’ll do the job in that hook truck.
It must be AWSOME seeing the engine you built in action making 850 HP.
Pat is such a nerd. Good engine builder though
Love for pat
Agreed! He has more pens in his pocket protector than the engines have Horsepower.
He's an awesome guy though. Super nice and down to earth.
He has that look on his face when he winds it up like please don’t blow up please don’t blow up
He’s the only one who talks like a human.
I feel like Pat and Richard Holdener grab some beers every once and a while and brew up some sinister engine build ideas.
Richard Holder is a forced induction guy. He doesn't know shit about building real race engines.
have a 509 BBC and I was amazed at the fact that work ethics matter and transparency still exist. I've got 27g in my life long rebuild of 78 4x4 and well it has been a little over the 3 rebuilds none of these where my fault and happened in the first 7500 miles . wow nice build guys ty for the build . Should have had mine done by yo all........ kinda have gotten a little bit of a bitter taste to even go any further. But if I don't quit so easily. God bless and tyvm.
I would pay to see Pat and David Freiburger have a nerd off on engine builds given how knowledgeable they both are. Roadkill + POWERNATION collab? 🤤
They’d start talking in depth about rod ratio, and cam timing, and alternate firing orders and blow everyone’s minds
Your the best Pat! show these young guys how its done.
As an engine builder for 45 years and a jet engine mechanic, would you please remind people to blow out all cavities with compressed air including the crankshaft. This ensures your getting any debris out and the air you feel reminds you that oil can freely flow through that cavity, orifice or oil galley.
As an engine builder of 45 years, you'd think you would know the correct term is oil "gallery", not galley.
Conveying the the message is the point, not spell check. Some say galley others say gallery. Oil passages are in a line thus a galley.
Kerry Monroe. Savage!
Kerry Monroe Thank you! People missing the whole point. Right on !
This calls for a twin turbo setup. Two mid size turbos and 20psi boost wakes this kind of an engine to a monster that u can barely drive... :D
Love it, hope this project goes all the way....unlike another tow truck build that kinda disappeared mid build.
This is awesome content. Been watching these shows since I was small. Good job guys! 😄
i got a 327 that is running 12.5 to 1 compression with 92 octane pump gas with no problems it was built by old man bell just for street racing on pump gas but there is a lot of money in it and it was built for high rpms . my tak only goes to 13,500 rpm's but i had all most back too 0 i would call it about 15,000 rpms in the mid 90's i was the fastest pump gas no nitro car in my area right now i'm building a stroked 454 with hemi heads going to run tunnel ram with about 12 to 1 but the engine u guy's built is a very good engine it will last a long time for the money and they will be very happy with it . i retired the 327 that old man bell built when he died just because he told me that this was the craziest 327 he had ever built for pump gas and the engine still runs today but sits in the shop on display
That truck reminds me of Mater from cars the movie LMFAO !!!!!
If you guys think this is cool check out the DEBOSS GARAGE tow truck build! It’s a C10 on a bus frame with a twin turbo duramax, and air ride!
Perfect body style and a perfect motor you guys are killing it again
Make sure you do that HOLMES wrecker body and boom & winch assembly some fair justice.... not many of those left.... Not that I doubt that you guys wouldn't... This will be one great looking build!!!!
I think this Tow Truck idea came from the movie, Cannonball Run!!!!!
Do a small block olds with 455 heads. Show us olds guys some love. Then drop it into a 78 442. Rocket Power.
Wow a huge power increase from a little timing adjustment
I heard Bugs Bunny is looking for The Power Nation crew LOL
Those square Chevys remind me of my dad, and riding in them with him. Thanks for bringing back some cool memories.
Yes!!
I'd put way less camshaft in to build monster midrange. Forget the nitrous; you don't need it.
For sure, it’d be cool to just see it as a sleeper tow truck. No need to take it to the drag strip.
Would be better for the street and less wear and tear on the valve train with less cam lift...and less rpm for less stress on the rotating assembly...which equal better reliability and longevity......especially on a stroker big block...
I think they do stuff like this just because. But your exactly right I think. Nitrous is not needed at all and is a waste in my opinion.
Hook up a lambo to it and drive around🤣!. it doesn't need nos...
@@bigboreracing356
I haven't needed it yet. Even in the class above me!.
I'm going to be looking at work probably three times today love this show street drag racing
i'd consider subjecting myself to those goofs at carcass just for this swap.
Holy moly!! The heads are huge!!
This is exciting , small camshaft for the intake and exhaust valves it's all about timing
That 632 makes a 572 look like a V6 engine.
The engine is physically the same size, how how the hell?
Yeah, no difference in size...........
Just different internals, n stroke.....
😂😂 no it doesn’t
RIP in peace that tow truck.
I couldn't have all these engines around without sneaking some out the back door.
Pat, knowing you, I'm surprised you didn't paint it Pepto Pink. 😂
Pat: This, this, and this.
Me: What did he just say????
I feel like Pat and Richard Holdener grab some beers every once and a while and brew up some sinister engine build ideas.
I’d love these guys build be a motor for my truck
On that tip, Chevys in my day were notoriously low 40lbs oilpsi. Z28's came with 60lbs stock, like Fords! Any time you run up to 6000 rpm, you need hi pressure pump. The Chevys BB had both hi pressure and hi volume pumps....
I did this stuff as a kid. Well, in my head. Looking through the Thrifty Nickel and the Shopper for cool stuff. Then thumbing through the monthly Summit and Jegs catalogs to find cool parts for stuff to make it fast. One list for if I owned it, and one for if I hit the Lotto. Stuff like this is just too cool. Moved around too much as an adult to have too many large tools but always found a way to do my own repairs and have a few project cars but nothing I was able to finish. Mainly bought cheap, fixed, and took much better pictures to advertise better for small profit. Went from a 400$ Ranger to a 4k$ 99 k2500 Suburban.. Those were the days. lol
Balancer Shafts ..Mr Topalinski
It’s hard to watch this after watching engine masters, they made 1039 n/a with off the shelf parts, and about 50 less cubic inches, now to be fair that last number was race gas but they had already made just a little over 1000 HP with pump. But I get it they wanted torque....
Awesome informative Video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya Prayers 🙏
That's one nice engine.
PAT YOU REALLY IMPRESSED ME WITH THAT ONE IM AN OLD SCHOOL ENGINE BUILDER FROM THE 70S YOU DO SOME IMPRESIVE WORK MAN , HATS OFF 2 U , KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK , I JUST PICKED UP A 68 FIREBIRD GOT THE DRAG RACE ITCH AGAIN IM BUILDING A 421 SBC GOT A SOLID ROLLER FROM HOWARDS WOLD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR APPINION ON MY CHOICES OF PARTS IF YOUR INTERESTED I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU, HAVE A GREAT DAY MIKE
Thanks for teaching me new thing
that is one awesome BBC....great work guys
Ohhhh boy... be careful how you use “bbc” on the internet these days
I have a degree from Professor Mike Galley , They come and FIND ME TO HIRE ......LOL
those headers are insane!!
Great build guys. 😎✌️
Pocket Protector Pat is all pumped up on that dyno run.lol.....
850! Tow Truck! Nice.
I’d prolly pick a tweaked Duramax as my choice
You guys need to put together a Drag Week car!!!!
463👍's up guys thanks again for taking the time for us all
very nice build. To save time and money. I believe I would have just bought blueprint 632 with 815 horsepower and 800 foot pounds of torque. I would have installed a 15 degree timing knob so if it starts to ping and pop pull timing out. I did this in my street and strip car works great!
Would love to see stroked and bored big block Cadillac in one of these old wreckers
Came here for Pat guy is a Legend
He gets his jollies saying Pound Feet
How about some dual smoke stacks , like a semi. Hook up the nitrous close to the end of the stacks! Good flame effects while on the drag strip!
Looks like the timing hit a sweet spot! If I had this engine in a street car I would leave the nitrous though, great build!
Super high dollar Jesus!
It needs super singles in the rear
As much as I like turbos and to a lesser extent superchargers, huge n/a displacement is cool sometimes, too.
I had a f350 dump with a 460, had great tq down low, great for working it. 6 mpg wasn't so great. My 7.3 ps easily gets double the mpg, and sometimes triple on hwy, dead honest. 460 almost made as much tq tho.
👍 I like it. I have a GMC 7000 farm truck that's got a 454 in it and I'm thinking real hard about turning it into a big pickup truck and it would really be cool to put a big monster in it like this 632. I bet it would be cost prohibited for my budget. I'm sure it will be much cheaper for me to use either a turbo or a supercharger. 632 would really be cool though. Great video.👍
That engine too nice for the tow truck
I wish I could get those guys to rebuild my small block for my 1980 Camaro
When you changed pistons in the 632 did you need to re balance the engine , or were the pistons the same weight ? thanks , nice build as always .
Is there ANY danger that Pat doesn't have the correct biro for the task? lol
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I know Pat's credentials are stellar, but his mannerisms make him look socially awkward.
Social awkwardness is a sign of intelligence. The more mechanical the mind, the more awkward the behavior in random ways.
that is a bad ass engine.
Oh hell ya 632!!!
Love pats crazy dyno eyes
I would love to see what you could do with an 8.1 Vortec motor.
If you follow LT from the show Trucks he's building one for his pickup.
Nevermind. His name is Lawrence Tolman and for some reason his videos are gone. 🤔
It looks like his videos are still active on Facebook. Try there.
Thank you. I know about LT build.
The reason I commented here is because I drive an 05 GMC 5500 tow truck with the 8.1 in it. The truck weighs 12,000 pounds and that gas burner pulls it pretty friggin good.
@@fantomson5035 No problem. I'm just more puzzled why LTs videos are down. I guess he wasn't all about that YT life.
I see they let the short bus kid run the dino now
Fun video today guys and gals at POWERNATION.... As cool as this HOLMES wrecker build is going to be, you know what I think we all need to see in the future some time, is an engine build that is all about MAXIMUM RANGE on the getting the most mileage out of every drop of gasoline, or to say, MPG for a vehicle that is meant for traveling, Yet, still using a V-8 config base. I suppose there isn't much one can due out side of what the factory's have designed & built? I do realize, the company / corporation is about making affordable powerplants, as compared to a top fuel dragster's engine. This is just a thought, and not a huge request, but when you at POWERNATION covered the inline 4, 6, 8 engines, those were allot of fun to watch, and really had folks talking. I do not know if your numbers there at POWERNATION reflect that statement, but, those left the notion to even more folks that playing with engine is more obtainable and affordable to new people just starting the venture to start emptying out every pocket to feed this engine performance & building addiction, that is doesn't just mean that "only V-8's" will make HP... Ah, maybe I am just talking rubbish, and that would serve nobody?.. either way, this was a fun show today.
Never can go wrong with body armor drink
The engine already has a perfect Chevy orange paint job so let's just repaint it GM blue to go in a Chevy truck makes tons of sense
Never knew Chevy made a 632... I remember watching Stacey David on Trucks! build his "Project Copperhead" pickup, and being amazed when he revealed the engine he was planning to put into it: one of, if not the very first, then new and biggest Chevrolet engine: the 572 V8.
This engine is an aftermarket block made by BluePrint Engines. It is based on traditional big block Chevy architecture, but modified to enable you to build an engine bigger than 496 cubic inches.
@@samthelegoman3990 In most cases you could bore a 427 or 454 block to 4.600 bore without sleeving if it's in good shape. I've heard with machining you can get up to 4.5" stroke that's good for 598 ci. Even at 4.500 x 4.25 that's a 541ci. Given how much it would cost to do it yourself it's probably cheaper just to buy a crate 632 long block good for over 800hp under $12k
I think it would be cool if they did some some things with the guys out of the shop. Things like what they do outside of the job, some projects they are working on personally, just how they are outside of the show
I want that engine!!
Wish I could use all there knowledge to finish my 82 C10 it needs work on everything drivetrain to body repairs.
