I am one of the “losers” with a pre-facelift ID3, and whilst I agree that everyone has their likes and dislikes, I have driven ours for 2.5 years and never once had any issues using the steering wheel “buttons”.
I still feel like VW doesn't like EVs and you can feel it everywhere. They do it, because the have to, not because they want to make good car (and if there are people like that, they have to fight with management). When I had test ride in ID.3, it was perfect as a small family car! I felt very comfortable, controls were great, nice and calm ride, great handling ... sales person could push me and I would buy it right there! (with new Tesla 3, this ID.3 is on top of my list) But no, he was saying that no one buys them, batteries are expensive and generally he was clearly anti-EV. At KIA? Happy people willing to show you everything and talk about it. They looked proud of their cars! And to add ... ID.3 is much better than MG4! MG4 is "bare and bumpy", but well, much cheaper so still perfect option :)
Just so you're aware not every single sales person for a car brand follows a corporate dictate perfectly because they're not Robots, so an individuals lack of enthusiasm doesn't necessarily translate to a company not caring about EVs
That seems like an odd principle, and presumably you haven’t driven the new ID.3? It depends what you want from a car ultimately. We think this is much improved over the old one, and therefore up with the best in class.
@@BuckleUpShow An “odd principle”? VW deliberately misinterpreted their emissions data. The only country they’ve refused to pay compensation in is-you guessed it-the U.K. So, frankly, VW can screw off! Also, VW was saved by the Royal Engineers at the end of WW2-something totally omitted from their company history. Have a look at the VW official website. Anyway; the MG4 X Power is cheaper, as practical and way faster. Can’t buy British? I have zero qualms about buying Chinese vs German. VW: Dull cars bought by dull people…
Can I ask a genuine question, then? Why have you clicked on this video, presumably not watched it, just to comment about the MG4 XPOWER? That’s extremely odd behaviour. Just for the record, VW did cheat emissions tests. That’s very bad. However, it’s subsequently been found that everyone else was as well. Someone in my close family had a nice payout for the emissions scandal, so that bit is nonsense. As someone who specialised in German history, I’m very well aware of what the British did. And indeed what the Americans did for the Japanese motor industry. Can’t imagine that’s the only thing VW don’t talk about in their history, though! Not sure what your point is about buying British? I have owed several British cars. There was no mention of not buying the MG4 because it’s made in China. And as I said before, some people don’t want to buy the MG. They want something different. The ID.3 is now a very good alternative that justifies its price.
@@BuckleUpShow Clicked on it to see what the updated ID3 is like. It doesn’t mean I’d consider buying one. Similarly, I’ve clicked on videos about climbing Everest without having an intention to have a go myself… By your own admission the ID3 is “OK”. If people want to buy them, fair go 🤷🏻♂️ To note that given VW currently has debts of $52bn it probably won’t exist in a few years. I think the same will apply to other “legacy” carmakers; Daimler, BMW, Ford etc
It’s okay because this is the normal flavour. Just as the normal MG4 is okay. There’ll be a GTX/GTI/R model of the ID.3 along soon enough, though. Then we can compare apples for apples. Also, just a side note, SAIC currently has debts of around 320bn so I assume you think MG will be gone next year?
You forgot to mention that the whole of rear light now illuminates all the way across. I have the facelift model and loved your spot on review.
Are you referring to the two separate light clusters as this doesn’t have a light bar?
@@BuckleUpShow The lights on the boot lid now illuminate. The light bar above the dash has been removed.
VW did had a good look to the MG4
There is a lot to like with this updated version. Those touch buttons would drive me insane though
The buttons are a real shame, but VW have promised to fix this in future models.

What lovely professional b-roll this video has
So profesh

@@BuckleUpShow Yeah I know, that is just my feeling. But still my favourite EV :P
I wouldn’t buy a VW on principal, but why would you when you can buy an MG4 X Power 🤷🏻♂️
