Hey! I know this isn't my first time making a video about Pandemonium Cartoon Circus. Honestly, I've grown a lot over the past few years since I first covered Pandemonium Cartoon Circus. I wanted to revisit the topic to better preserve the show. Thanks for giving this new version a shot! I plan on revisiting some of my other old Islands of Adventure videos with higher quality. I also have a lot of new topics on the way! Next month's video is about an infamous defunct theme park. 👀 The easiest way to support my work is to just like and subscribe. That's it! I know every RUclipsr says that, but it really does help A TON. So thank you! And if you'd like to support Storybook Amusement further, please consider joining my Patreon! I just posted a brief podcast about Pandemonium Cartoon Circus that is just for Patrons. Plus, you'll get other benefits like stickers and early access! I know this was super long, but thanks so much for being here. Have the last laugh!
@@ErikWestcothi! Do you have any news on What’s going on with Ripsaw falls? I noticed a lot of the animatronics and effects have been fixed and working better than before , even some effects that haven’t been seen working in years is back!
I love these old gems of the circus/cirque style shows at theme parks and that footage exists of a full performance. I didnt know about this one and and I am glad i learned about it from here!.
Honestly, If Boop! The Musical does well enough on Broadway I could see it moving into Island of Adventure with a scaled down and abbreviated production. Besides having some fun/catchy songs and really good choreography (as well as a simple design which can be duplicated cheaply) the show also has a scene set at New York Comic Con which can be modified to feature characters from Universal and Illuminations catalogue. It would fit the land perfectly and could give Islands a showstopping live production.
Wow - hats off to the performers in the show. These were all super physical acts that are difficult to perform in leotards/bodysuits like a lot of circus performers. Can’t imagine what it would have been like to do them with limited mobility AND sight
It's such a shame that the huge space has been left vacant over the years. I feel theme parks nowadays have been scaling back a lot when it comes to live entertainment. They're great crowd eaters and a way to wind down while also still being entertained so it doesn't feel like you're losing time at the park. Plus, nothing beats the privilege of getting to see creative sets and talent performed live!
I try to be positive about the parks, but I can't ignore how much they've scaled back on live entertainment. It feels like so many budgets were trimmed during Epic Universe's construction. Hopefully we get more shows and streetmosphere once that's over!
@@StorybookAmusementI really hope Universal doesn’t touch Toon Lagoon in the future that land is timeless! A lot of people suggesting SpongeBob but to me , SpongeBob doesn’t really fit islands of adventure at all, it would fit epic universe a lot better on an expansion plot.
I remember the Rosie O'Donnell Show filming episodes at the theater shortly after the park opened. There was an extremely awkward moment when someone in the audience made up a song about visiting Disney World and Mickey and Rosie had to cut her off quickly and sing about Islands of Adventure.
@@StorybookAmusement I actually found the episode on RUclips, it is the Rosie O'Donnell Show, Season 3, Episode 162 from 1999 (Ricky Martin episode) and starts at 27:04. It is as awkward as I remember, with the crowd booing at the lady singing about The Magic Kingdom and Disney, and Rosie trying to salvage the moment singing about Universal.
I bought a 12-inch Woody Woodpecker semi-soft figure from IOA opening (online). I took it to IOA last year and many teammembers loved it I found it when I was looking for more of the "Date" series of IOA Tshirts. From at least 2001-2007, IOA offered a yearly shirt where the numbers of that year were made from graphical parts of the park (rides, characters)
So I went to islands of adventure opening day. The florida parks (disney/universal mainly) are a yearly trip for my family and have been since I was a kid. I have vivid memories of seeing this more than once, and I have a feeling it didn't close as quickly as the internet would have it seem...but I do remember my parents filling something out about what we thought about it back when they were deciding to close it. I also remember the small crowd one of the times we went. It's possible it re-opened for the busy seasons for a small time. My dad use to film everything during those trips (we have many videos from 92-2004 or '05 before he stopped since only I ended up watching those old tapes heh...). Might have old footage to back this up. I have fond memories of this show, despite never liking bullwinkle as a kid,...yet the reasoning behind it being closed is very strange to me. Both kids networks mentioned aired these shows in the 90s and up until the mid 2000s. Nickelodeon not as much but Cartoon Network absolutely was largely showing a few of these cartoons back then until Billy & Mandy took over the channel in 2005, and they were popular enough that they aired during prime home from school time as well as in the morning for preschoolers. They were absolutely relevant. Its why a lot of people born in the 90s/late 80s are aware of these characters. If I had to guess I'd say it failed more so because it was one of the only things for kids to do really outside of seuss landing for awhile...I know I didn't really enjoy this park much growing up due to all the big scary rides I was too short/scared to go on. I preferred studios. I imagine I was not alone. Fun trip down memory lane tho. Haven't thought about it in years, but I do really miss that show.
I rarely hear from someone who's actually seen the show, so welcome! I would love to believe they reopened it for a period. I've been deep in newspaper archives and the Wayback Machine pulling info from the time. The stage was definitely used for several years during peak seasons after the show's closure. I have a hard time believing they'd reassemble the set (assuming it didn't get scrapped after closing) and train a new cast just for a limited run during the busy season. The original cast had to go through actual circus training! I'm very curious about your tapes though! Please keep me updated. You and I might be around the same age. Those cartoons were absolutely around, but not with the same popularity as '90s shows at the time. We all have different experiences though! Some of the characters were undoubtedly recognizable to a lot of kids, but I'd say in general the newer shows were more popular. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your memories!
@@StorybookAmusement Part of why I believe it may have lasted longer is because I was actually watching this video with part of my family nearby. They recognized the music and asked what I was watching. They all seem to have remember seeing it more than once and this would be strange if it closed in less than a year: with the exception of the park's opening we very rarely went to florida outside of the late august season for our one trip. So it'd be weird to remember seeing it more than once when we only got in line for rides again, not shows. I know disney has sometimes been able to reassemble some of the old cast living in the area for shows that return, but it also wouldn't surprise me if it had returned without the circus acts. I've seen that over the years too. Being a big fan of theme park history I know none of this is usually confirmed until someone has found evidence of such of thing tho, so hopefully I can shed some light if I'm able. I've been wanting to go through these tapes so I'll let you know if I am able to find them. Possibly! I can personally say with great certainty: betty boop was probably the most unknown of the bunch, her show was the only one that had long since been off syndication and I only knew her since my mother is on the older side. She is a big fan. Most of the island was full of characters like that, but popeye had a ride area for a reason. He was still a big hit with kids, and at least in my neck of the woods of NY he was still beloved by kids several grades below me as well. Rocky and bullwinkle had their movie and even appeared in the thanksgiving day parade again for several years. I can't imagine this was done for adults alone. Even before their movie they had a ton of commercials in the 90s..which I only remember because of how much I disliked the show lol..I agree the shows were probably not as popular by then, but I certainly think most of the characters would have been beloved the same as the hannah barbera ones next door. But yeah this was a fun discussion! Thanks for giving me a place to talk and share. : ) I'll look for those tapes.

I sadly doubt it. In competitive times like these where companies are trying to get customers to their streaming services, there’s no way Discovery/Warner and Paramount would want to collaborate with Universal.

That’ll be cool to do that with the Seuss Trolley video since that’s how I discovered you.

As someone who works in Toon Lagoon, it is so surreal hearing the music from this show since it's the exact same music I hear every day at work.
I'm jealous you get to hear it all day 😌
I work in maintenance at the park so I hear it daily while walking through the area. It's one of my favorite Easter eggs in the park! Lol

The amphitheater would be great place for a Pokemon stage show until a land is built for it. It would be wildly popular in my opinion,
That's a great idea for a holdover. People would love it. Something is better than nothing!
