What I loved about Squeeze concerts is that when the back-up parts come around, the whole audience sings them! lol The band doesn't even have to do it because the audience knows the songs so well.
Thanks for sharing Steve never seen this before. We did meet once, you bought a Squeeze ticket off me I had spare. We met outside a tube station in London a few years back.
This is the first time I have seen this documentary, totally fascinating, as are all of the videos you have posted Steve and for your efforts and dedication I thank you. I am a huge Squeeze fan and I have learnt so much and enjoyed all the videos you have posted. So sincere thanks once more, your efforts are very much appreciated..
Steve, just came across this one. Great timepiece. Always been very fond of “Frank”. This made me realize again how much I miss Keith Wilkinson being in the band. Nice guy, had a couple of great conversations with him in London mid-90’s. Bought me a pint one night in 1996 when I really shouldn’t have had another.
What a great documentary thanks. It took a surprisingly dark turn half way through, and watching it I certainly got the impression that all wasn't well. Jools was the happiest, but then he was semi-detached by this point anyway, while I think Chris and Glenn had been worn down by the lack of commercial success, despite the quality of their music.
I've been missing out on some much needed sleep thanks to your amazing Squeeze video collection. You are my new hero! Thanks for this awesome collection! I can't stop watching...
No, they actually crack up in laughter during their segment together from time to time. Don't know exactly what Glenn is smoking, but whatever it is, it's without a filter. I believe the falling-out would come later in the 90's when Chris refused to tour overseas but insisted on getting a cut of the performing fees. Glenn said "no" to that nonsense. Glad they've patched things up since then.
Great for Squeeze fans. Aside from Jools ,the boys seem a bit shy. Love the "English English" lyrics of the earlier albums. Frank was a highpoint in overall quality. It reminded me ,in spots , of the earlier work. Any album with Jools Holland is a plus for me. Dr Jazz is amazing. Later albums had lots of great music
For years and years I had a VHS of Squeeze playing what I think was a New Years Eve show. Jules was in the band and Glenn was playing a black Tele. It was a fantastic concert. I think it may have been late 80s. Jules introduced the band and I remember he quipped about Keith being a new member and how hard it is to be a late-comer; "I remember when I joined the Beatles......." :--) I've lost it (not that I have a VHS player anymore). Is there a fan out there who knows how I can get a copy on DVD?
I think you mean this. Search for Sunday Night with Jools Holland. There were at least two-Tempted and It’s Too Late. ruclips.net/video/OrgiQlUeutg/видео.html
Thanks Steve.... Some VERY Frank but interesting admissions there from the band, and as always it's great to see another new "old" but 1st seen video from you. I love the Frank album.... Keep the vids coming bless you X
I'm amazed that there was actually VH1 Documentary to publicize this album! Did it actually air on VH1?lol I was under the impression this album received no push at all from the record company and unfortunately tanked. Which was surprising since it followed the successful Babylon and On album. Thank you for posting. Love the Frank album and all of the subsequent albums as well. Even though their now "trapped" as an 80's band I think their best work has been since Frank onward right up to From the Cradle and the Grave
"Frank" is perhaps not their best effort as compared with other "lps" ( yep .. we referred to them as LP - Long Players - Albums etc ). Having said that, it is still a very fine collection of great songs by one of the best bands to come out of England. How is it that Squeeze has never been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of fame considering the crap that has been nominated and voted it. To quote a line from one of their songs "it baffles me".

Incredible band!!! God, I'm on a Squeeze binge, AGAIN!
45's and over I still listen to now. Great album.
Keith Wilkinson is an absolute monster on bass.. His sound instantly recognisable. I saw Squeeze at Newcastle City Hall 11/1/90 a fantastic concert.
Thanks for sharing Steve never seen this before. We did meet once, you bought a Squeeze ticket off me I had spare. We met outside a tube station in London a few years back.
Yes! I remember it very well. I literally flew in to Heathrow and met you. The ticket was for D&T at the Union Chapel.
@@stevebertram6730 well remembered Steve better memory than me! I hope you and your family are all well.
Goddamn,Glenn still has a fantastic voice! Obviously a gift from above.

David Clifford Thanks for the kind words.
David Clifford ditto :-)
I LOVE SQUEEZE. Most interesting presentation of a great band.

Never heard Gilson speak so much. Great to hear him
Glenn still looks like a 20 something here even though he was in his early 30s at this time
Just watched this again.....Love Squeeze, Thanks to VH1 for making Vid and to Steve for putting it on RUclips for us to enjoy X
nicolarsefir You’re welcome Nic. Hope all is well.

Chris always seemed depressed in those days...

+A Fan You're welcome!
I've never seen this before. In fact I wasn't even aware of it. I was living in Bklyn in 1989 and cable was not available so thanks for posting!
Best gig I ever went to, heard on the radio that Squeeze were playing in a pub in Eltham.
Frank is a great record. So many killer songs.
Underrated to this day. However, probably better so! They had a good run.
Might book a ticket or two for Squeeze in 2 days, LDN. Would anyone reccomend?
This must have been filmed during one of Tillbrook's & Diffords famous falling outs. Can feel the chill from here.Glenn can hardly look at Chris.

I was at that gig. That pub is now a McDonald's.
That sounds about right.

Thanks, Steve. Great to see them behind the scenes.
This was a truly thoughtful and interesting doc. Love these guys even more.Jools Holland is incrediably hilarious!
Who was Oliver?
Love Glenn ❤❤❤❤

This doesn’t sound familiar to me. I’m on the lookout now.

Squeeze = THE BEST !!!!
Wow, this is awesome. Thanks Steve.

+Saturn100 Yes, I recorded this from VH1 back in the day. I'm pretty sure it only aired once.
"Play" and "Ridiculous" are both GREAT ALBUMS !!!
Obviously late , but thanks ! Got Frank on cassette when it came out . Can of Worms 👍

they will in time, there is no more Rock and Roll, so they will get in eventually.
I'm not a huge fan of Jools but, his "Stop that man !" is hilarious 😂
If this were all I knew of Squeeze I'd think they were pretty average. What a disservice to a great group.
Thank you
I just found out that Jools and I share Jan 23rrd as a birthday Happy 63rd Jools
Female partner and her monthly cycle? Oy. Y'all boys are SO bothered!
Julian didn't come off too well in this interview. Great band.
Jools was checking out of Squeeze for the last time right around this time.
I just cant seem to find Jools Holland less than annoying, brilliant musician though.
He's a bit of a tit, but a very good musician.
Funny, for me Glenn's coming across as not wanting to be there was much more annoying. Gilson was gear tho wasn't he?
I think he is a trip. Great artists tend to be eccentric,
