Cause someone without common sense did the marketing of this palette. And obviously put barely 1% work in it.
I literally got my first Juvia's Place palette in the mail (the Zulu palette) when the J star and JP drama popped off. This is the third palette I got where drama happened the next day I acquired it. I accept my curse and will no longer buy eyeshadow

It's to create an impression of a "travel friendly all in one palette" and sell sell sell that veneer of practicality to casual makeup customers, while knowing that it'll just sit in people's drawers. They've gotta be selling or else they wouldn't keep releasing them. LVMH wouldn't let that shit slide. 😏

I like the Midas Cosmetic palette more too. I just felt like Colourpop missed making an awesome yellow palette by only putting two yellow matte shades. Also, as you said, there is the added bonus of supporting a small black owned indie brand.

I feel like you didn't get it because metallic yellow was the token yellow for so long and even used as a cop-out to avoid formulating matte yellow. So maybe brands are afraid of bringing that back?

Re: putting lip products in a face palette, that will 100% make me pass over a product. I already hate using lip brushes to apply products. I eat far too much of my lip products throughout the day to be bothered with all that fuss. I prefer separate lipstick/gloss that I can throw in my purse.

I used the lip section in an elf holiday palette nearly every day in my freshman year of college. That all in one palette was my favorite. It went everywhere with me. Wow how beauty has grown since then. I was still using shimmer only for an eye look until two years ago. NOBODY TOLD ME!

Colourpop nearly got me with the yellow pallet. "So affordable" "I already have the green and the purple" "GOTTA catch them all 🤯" then I remembered yellow makes me look jaundiced 🤣 So it's a no for me. Similarly I do not need the blue moon or main squeeze pallets, they are cute af but the colour stories do not flatter me.
I Think with the body makeup its good that people with skin conditions they might want to cover up but I wish the defenders of KKW would realize that this wasn't invented by Kim and body makeup is available from other non Kardashian brands.
Like MAC! Or any sheered out regular foundation, haha. But some people don't want to support Estee Lauder/just want something relatively quick and clearly marketed, in a big bottle. 👍🏽

I did, in fact, use the lipstick portions of an ELF holiday all-in-one palette pretty regularly. However, though I was wearing makeup daily, I was also applying it illicitly in my school bathroom and that’s probably the only situation where all in one palettes make sense.
