I wouldn’t say this was a very empathetic BBN

This seems to be not following the Breaking Bad News Guidelines "SPIKES"
Setting, Perception, Invitation, Knowledge, EMPATHIZE, Strategy

No empathy at all, very straight forward

Why is the doctor doing all the red flags at this stage? Surely the investigating doctor would have done some ground work? She first says it's cancer and THEN tries to buffer it by saying 'it could be something else'

Assess support structures ask if there was someone he could confide in so that he doesn't have to go through this alone , check resilience of patient, ask patient for any relevant past medical history and psychiatric history to assess if further intervention needed.

Not sure if this is a training exercise ? It certainly cannot be educational material for medical professionals on how to impart bad news to patients unless it's an example of how not to do it. Sincerely hope that lady is not let loose on patients.

Thank you for making this video on breaking bad news available to all. It was interactive but then the SPIKES Protocol wasn’t followed. Again, I would say that the role-play wasn’t well done.
The setting won’t be considered for a good training video that would show maybe tissue paper or glass of water and a good sitting arrangement. She supposed to get an initial history of what made the doctor make an investigation and how the cough is progressing. But that isn’t same with the perception of the illness and what he thinks could be wrong with him.
From Dr’s side, I am not comfortable with her giving the patient a provisional diagnosis of cancer with just an X-ray report. And I am not sure I heard her mention they will need to do a biopsy, although she mentioned further confirmatory test to find the exact type of cancer and stage.
The patient came in very optimistic with the supposed result, not expecting bad diagnosis. Unfortunately, the doctor didn’t give a warning sign or ask how much he wish to know about the diagnosis or if he will need to have someone around.
In general, it was nice listening to you.
    Thank you.

Very badly acted by both sides and absolutely no empathy shown by the so-called doctor

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV, Jesus Christ is the only way.....
