    This is the best logistical video but have seen regarding traveling to Europe. Thank you so much for the details you have provided on how to actually do these activities. I can’t wait to check out more of your videos!

    Thank you! I had not planned an excursion here because the ship didn’t offer anything I liked.

    Having visited Messina twice by cruise ship I can say that the centre of the city the touristy bit by the cathedral is indeed worth seeing especially the clock tower but venture not too far away and the city is untidy, run down, lacks maintenance and has a litter and graffiti problem. In this video she shows the eye candy for the tourists which is helpful but doesn't cover the mass of parked cars that clutter the streets or the closed down shops or the men sat on park benches which is so common everywhere since Europe opened it's doors but take a ship excursion and you won't see any of that and have a great time enjoying what Sicily has to offer.

    Katerina, an enjoyable informative video that would be improved greatly by dropping the background music which adds absolutely nothing and hinders hearing your narrative. People log on to your video for information and not to be blasted by background music.

    Fantastic informative video! We had no idea what to expect at this port or what to do, and your video makes it easy to decide which options are for us. I am looking forward to seeing what other ports you make videos about as they are perfect newbie travellers like us.

I hope to go there soon again so I can make a video, but until then, check out the article adventourbegins.com/a-day-in-barcelona-cruise-port/.

    Please turn down the volume on your music. It's too loud, It's hard to hear you over your loud music. We turned off the volume and turned on the CC. We'll look for other youtube videos that don't have music.
    Thank you.

    Great video! THANK YOU! This is so helpful. Is there a way to see both Messina and Taormina on our one day cruise stop?

    • @AdventourBegins
      @AdventourBegins  4 месяца назад

      Hi Judy, thank you! Yes, it's plenty of time to visit both. I would first head to Taormina, the train station in Messina is within walking distance from the port (maybe 10-15 minutes) and trains depart several times per hour. You can check the timetables at the official website www.trenitalia.com/. I suggest you buy them online, and you can do it when you arrive in Messina. I would save at least 3 hours for Taormina, and it's enough because the place is small and everything is within walking distance. You can return to Messina by 4:30/5pm and have around 1.5-2 hours for Messina. You don't need more than that, the city center and the main square is a 5-minute walk from the ship. That's what I would do :) Have a great cruise, I hope this info helps! 😇

    Messina Sicily is where my Family comes from. I have relatives there. They look like me. When I was a boy. They knew me. Because of my Great Grandparents. I never got to meet any of my Family from Messina. Except for my Great grandmother. Who was so kind and didn't speak a word of English. Her food was delicious. She would tell my Grandpa. Michael has so many cousins that look like him. But none has his eyes.
    I wish I could visit Messina Sicily. Just once in my Life.
    It's Beautiful there.

    Great video Katarina!! Like your other videos of Sicily! Is it doable to visit Messina in one day or preferably to stay over night? Will be coming from Palermo or from Catania. thank you!

    • @AdventourBegins
      @AdventourBegins  7 месяцев назад

      Hey, thank you! :) Messina can be visited in a day, the city center is compact and easily visited on foot. You should first visit the Cathedral and its Astronomical Clock (climbing the tower is a must), then the Church of Christ the King overlooking the city, also Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and Neptune Fountain. Everything is within walking distance! PS. Sorry for my late reply, I somehow missed this comment :)

    The Museum of Messina is always overlooked but it should be at least among the first 2 reasons to visit Messina. It contains TWO paintings of Caravaggio and excellent works of Antonello da Messina and Montorsoli original Neptune Sculptures plus many very interesting archaeological artifacts of every era. It really is a GEM to not miss, it is the Biggest Museum in Southern Italy! People have no idea what that means nor what’s inside.

    • @AdventourBegins
      @AdventourBegins  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you so much for the suggestion, I will definitely visit it next time! I just checked and saw the museum is about 3.5 km away from the port of Messina, about a 10-minute drive. So art lovers definitely should not miss it! Thanks again for sharing this with us!

      @@AdventourBegins You are welcome! Since Messina was destroyed and rebuilt on its own rubbles over and over, that literally makes the whole city of Messina a whole archaeological site but that cannot be done because people still need a place to live in right? So they have put most of these findings inside the Museum.
      At exception of this Roman ruins located on the left side of the Town Hall; there you will find this antiquarium with multiple archaeological findings and the entrance to the archaeological site. I was a resident in Messina and in my honest opinion the city and the guides always fails to evaluates what we have. You are very welcome 🙏
