Round broke in our bed room. (In mag, in launcher). Made my wife and i very uncomfortable, with the coughing and sneezing. Same with dog. Not happy. So happy to see this video.
I used nail polish on MAX rounds, 5 max rounds on mag and 1 solid on Byrna for total of 6 rounds. The solid round helps prevent 1st MAX round from cracking due to tension. No issues since November 2020.
Hey DC, I know exactly what your saying.... You can pass this tip on your next video with my permission: I put a coat of clear nail polish over the seam of the "MAX" rounds that I load in the mag.. Once the polish dries, drop each round, one at a time into the barrel of the launcher to make sure it enters and exits with no friction. Then your good to load the mag. Use this tip along with your shortening the spring idea. Great idea bud, I'll be clipping my spring ASAP!!!!
Byrna hopefully you are paying attention. You have a great product with many modifications needed to be made. We the people of the Byrna Nation stand behind you. So by cutting the spring it makes it a six shooter? Which i was told by Byrna not to load six projectiles. It seems like the consumers are finding ways to improve this product. BYRNA ARE YOU LISTENING to what we are finding out or do you know about it already either way, again i say we stand behind you, we the people need no hiccups with the launcher or projectiles staying safe while living less Lethal.
@@Joreel I will monitor the magazine tension and will make adjustments based on too much spring tension. Amazing you fixed the problem. Great video and 100 dollar advice.
Great info how many times have you empty the magazine with practice shooting since you made the change? I personally carry mine with the pepperball rounds in it and I also have tested the salt Supply which do work very well also.
After this review Byrna if they are paying attention will start shortening the spring and approve other projectiles from other vendors. Especially being they are working hard to keep up with their orders.
I bought a byrna a couple of months ago. I have the max rounds. I load a kinetic then three max then another kinetic. chamber the first kinetic pop out the magazine and put another kinetic in. That way it has a kinetic on top pepper rounds in the middle in a kinetic on bottom. pepper round is still rupturing. I know they are supposed to break open easily. But this is a design flaw
i am worried to do this as my Byrna SD is new and i have no idea if they fixed this issue or not. all i know is i have pets and i am worried what if the pepper balls do crack in the mag and how can i avoid that, Also curious since i also like the PPQ alot will the lancer balls be just as effective with that Pistol? Thank You
I think seams need to be 90 degrees to spring tension or byrna needs to join/reinforce seems better to resolve this issue! But not reinforce to much rounds won't burst..
I cut an inch off the spring and still got a cracked round. Didn't get hardly any of the powder on me by nostrils on fire and sneezing like crazy. PRO: Max rounds are potent. CON: I cut some tension and the damn thing still cracked. It was NOT the round in the chamber. It was in the middle of the magazine, and cracked along the seam. Any ideas why? Pretty annoyed considering the max rounds are why I purchased the Byrna.
There is a better way Byrna needs to make a sturdier round they actually told a friend of mine to treat them like eggs BS is what I say that's why I just don't use Byrne pepper balls plus they want more than others like hell fury at homewreker''s

Great idea! i was thinking of using a thin layer of super glue. Im wondering if the nail polish will allow them to still break on impact?
We're at 15 months since this video was posted. Any broken rounds? Did this fix solve the problem for good?

Good advice thank you brother I've had the same problem and i definitely will consider it 👍🏽 WE THE BYRNA NATION .
10/10!!
This definitely works for me! Thanks a lot. I’m much more comfortable now with chem rounds in the launcher.
Thanku this was extremely helpful. I appreciate how you remedied pepper balls from breaking. Thanku
This hasn't been an issue for 9+ months after Byrna fixed the mag issue.

Also not loading rounds with the seams up helps

Are they cracking in the mag or being cut on the load indicator. Sharp spot on it
Thank you for the video
I dont buy byrna rounds because they are prone to crack. I use a stronger made pepperball made by dukedefence...so far do good.
Does it work with 5 round magazine and 7 round or both? Should not have to do that for how much I paid. Byrna is a rip-off.
Thanks for the advice but can you also let me know which other .68 caliber rounds will work with the Byrna without any problems. Be safe and thanks.
Hi where does the spring connect to in the mag before I go clipping inch and half I didn't see that in the video
I think seams need to be 90 degrees to spring tension or byrna needs to join/reinforce seems better to resolve this issue! But not reinforce to much rounds won't burst..
This is what I do--I keep seems horizontal when inserting. Also keep two kinetics on top in case of close encounter.
Have You tested the tension with 5 pepper balls , Then just 5 kinetic balls,?
I would like to buy one but I was told I cannot carry on me in California
Why?
Waiting for how it turned out.
3 months and no brocken rounds so far.
Subed, good content
Is this fixed?
Ya man please let us know if that worked!!
Still works...no broken rounds!
@@defensivecitizen873 some update?
I will put up and update video this evening..Thank you

So far 3 months no brocken rounds... I have 4 magazines all with max rounds no breaks at All...
I just bought the byrna sd and I was wondering could I use any other rounds for it and if so what would you guys recommend?
I highly recommend peppeball live X police grade rounds... They are as strong as byrna Max rounds. Look on Amazon...
thanks DC
the question is how to safely clean your gun after the break
You have to submerge it in water then dry it out. And run an oil cartridge through it
Me too.

What a rip-off, don't like wasting my money. They knew this but kept on selling them. Don't buy!
