He was even known to take his frustrations out on her on occasion so one would think that would have at least opened her eyes.
I think she was influenced, at least in this role, by Bette D. - the tics, the mannerisms, the wide eyed reactions, shoulder heaving, walks etc ... though I've never heard her speak of that being the case

You can see in the early episodes that they put so much foundation on Joan's face that her facial complexion do not match the complexion on her neck...so she looked like she was walking around with a detachable head like that queen from the OZ books with her collection of heads.
I just love this 80s melodrama: it is like fairytales, bedtime stories read to children. At least it raises all kinds of emotions and feelings. Nowadays, you just watch people being emotional, shedding obnoxious fake tears in "reality" television, making you feel just haughty derision and contempt, wishing those fakes were hit by a truck.
Can someone tell me why I think Krystle is rather dense and dull? How can you see a grandmother who is expressing concern for her grandson and all you can do is to ask her to leave because your husband is upset????
