"Poor lonely Joseph, still the impotent voyeur". Of all Alexis' countless insults over the years this has to be one of the most devastating, cruel and brutal. And it's a measure of the sheer brilliance of season 2 that's its not directed at Blake or Krystle but at a relatively minor character. Alexis, Joan and season 2 are just sensational.
Perfect example of why experience and casting matter...Collins was brilliant in this role...The subtleties she displayed in this scene cannot be taught
Yes, I totally agree... the shows earlier seasons, especially this with the entrance of Alexis, the writers really did a good job with not only the dialog but overall stories.
This is one of my favourite ever Dynasty scenes. They are like a pair of vipers checking eachother out. Joan Collins early scenes and storylines were superb. The only women to come close to her are Donna Mills in Knots Landing and Zoe Lucker in Footballers Wives.
Her acting is brilliant here. Look at the subtle changes in her expressions. When Joan is given good scripts and direction, she is a marvellous actress. It's a shame Hollywood didn't give her better films. But then she wasn't going on that casting couch and good for her!
I like that Joseph was able to strike a nerve in Alexis. She falters for about 3 seconds starting at 2:31, but she recovered her wit and cool very nicely.
Even with the situation--multimillionaire oil barons and their families slugging it out--there was an emotional honesty to the early season scripts that was utterly and completely lacking in the later years.
Totally agree. Early DYNASTY episodes had definetly hand crafted dialogues. Plus delicious performances (not so campy!). Note Joan theatre acting experience in Season 2 (+) and some in 3
really loved the heated banter between Joseph and Alexis! There was a scene with Alexis bringing a stuffed animal for Fallon's new born that is just classic!!
The actor when cast, told the producers that he didn’t want to have any scenes where he’s actually doing work. I guess that made Joseph so reserved and distant to everyone except for Blake and his two kids.
@@eddpower5425 I think it's because she left about 15 years ago after Blake "banished" 😆 her all those years ago. Did you watch Dynasty the first time around or are you a new convert?!
@@strikeleather6503 Oh God no. I wouldn't be that old 😂. RTÉ here in Ireland did repeat Dallas in the early 90's but that was about it. I have to rely on RUclips for my Dynasty clips I'm afraid 😂.
officially, there is little information about tolerating each other on the set of the series. however, it is worth mentioning, both mrs. bellwood and mr. bergere, who hated mrs. collins the most, even. it helped the production a lot anyway...
Poor pitiful Joseph …and Lee Begere ..neither is a match for Alexis or Joan Collins . She wiped the floor with him . I remember in season 3 she asked him if he still kept that scrapbook and to crawl back to the house …creep into his room and flip through it as he was boring her .
Though she did him wrong, I would have loved to see her torment Ben after their divorce, the way that she did Blake. That would have made for excellent watching.
She was also on Footballers Wives that some say was the inspiration for The Real Life Housewives Franchise. The Production Company Shed owned by Maureen "Chad" Chadwick, Eileen Gallacher and Ann McManus also was the driving force behind Bad Girls The Prison Drama (1999-2006) is a powerful Company in England. Another TV Creator is Sally Wainwright who created Happy Valley & Last Tango In Halifax that has been on Netflix and PBS. Sarah Lancanshire is one of The UK's Top Actresses.
Initially, it was an obvious cryptic high society reference to Aristotle Onassis and his "wretchedly unhappy" wife Jackie -- but they later retconned it to Zack Powers (which makes it far less mysterious and resonant retroactively, unfortunately).
Alexis burned him good . Loved in the season 3 cliffhanger when Joseph is at her penthouse acting snippy she asks if he still has the scrapbook. When he says yes she tells him …then I suggest you crawl back to the mansion …creep into your room and flip through it … cause you’re boring me ! Joan was so awesome in this role 😎😎😎
I am surprised he didn't call her Miss Morrell. Sounds like he knows ALL her 🍵. She was no longer Mrs. Carrington and truly had no power. That's why she eventually had to marry Cecil Colby.
She "Made" Dynasty as far as I'm concerned. Joseph should take lessons from Chao Li on Falcon Crest, don't get The Boss angry. Chao Li saw alot of drama go on in that house but never said a word.
Why do I see Joseph visiting this studio many times as Alexis made him strip then walked over his body in heels holding a whip ? YEP These 2 have met here many many times before .
I never understood, how if Alexis had hired Joseph to be majordomo then how come her lover Roger Grimes had the title of estate manager, isn't majordomo and estate manager the same thing if not what was more important?

"Impotent voyeur." Dang. She threw all kinds of shade.

The dialog in this scene is masterful. The writer's really tried hard to impress.
Yes, I totally agree... the shows earlier seasons, especially this with the entrance of Alexis, the writers really did a good job with not only the dialog but overall stories.
Or, in the case of Claudia, Norma Desmond! :-D
And they did.
"That will be all" puts him in his place instantly.
TRAPPER JOHNSON Yes indeed!
Your so right 👍🏼
They both had something in common too, they both had a fascination with Blake
This is one of my favourite ever Dynasty scenes. They are like a pair of vipers checking eachother out. Joan Collins early scenes and storylines were superb. The only women to come close to her are Donna Mills in Knots Landing and Zoe Lucker in
Footballers Wives.
I would also add Jane Wyman as Angela Channing on Falcon Crest to that line up!
One of my favourite scenes of Dynasty. Joan Collins certainly convinces everybody watching that she is sensational as Alexis. Such a terrific actress.
Kimmo Lindberg Yes indeed!
Amazing actress

@@strikeleather6503Joan as cleopatra instead of elizabeth would have been amazing.
Killing off Joseph was the worst mistake in Dynasty. He should have remained alive.
Fired b/c he asked for more screen time.
@@emerybayblues is that what happened?
@Draper Scott .. Begere was NOT happy about being killed off.
@Draper Scott shut up liar
Sean and Kirby hated Alexis
Poor, lonely Joseph, still the impotent voyeur, lol! Priceless line! Love Alexis!
I would have liked more scenes between the two of them. They seem to have one another's number.
They were friends in real life. And when "Joseph" was dead, Joan Collins had a hard time doing her iconic role as Alexis, coz Joan missed him.
Joseph gave tit for tat!
This scene is so well written it should be used in drama schools.
The writing was fantastic in these early episodes. It is a shame they could not keep up that quality of storytelling.
I like that Joseph was able to strike a nerve in Alexis. She falters for about 3 seconds starting at 2:31, but she recovered her wit and cool very nicely.
Joseph knew everyone's secrets. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Her early scenes were so much better. Less campy. This is one of her best.
Even with the situation--multimillionaire oil barons and their families slugging it out--there was an emotional honesty to the early season scripts that was utterly and completely lacking in the later years.
@phoenixnyc The writers got to caught up in trying to up the level of crazy to keep viewers hooked.
Dam! Krystal needs to take a lesson from Alexis on how to handle the help. Alexis put that sassy old queen in her place lol!
😂
Someone needs to watch S1! Krystle bent Joseph over and rode him...and in front of half the staff!
“Impotent Voyeur” - LOL I’ve been laughing about that for almost 40 years now.
absolutely
It's a brilliant put down.
Totally agree. Early DYNASTY episodes had definetly hand crafted dialogues. Plus delicious performances (not so campy!). Note Joan theatre acting experience in Season 2 (+) and some in 3
She was the Queen of put downs but she met her match with Sable
really loved the heated banter between Joseph and Alexis! There was a scene with Alexis bringing a stuffed animal for Fallon's new born that is just classic!!
Don't FUCK with Alexis.
he is a lonely little messy queen 👑 he wants to wear her dress
Many have, believe me LOL
They needed more scenes like this. Joseph was the Butler J.R. Ewing. He was sorely missed.
They never should have got rid of Joseph. He knew all the family secrets and I love how He hated Alexis. It was perfect.
The actor decided to leave the show. He considered that his role was not big enough.
The actor when cast, told the producers that he didn’t want to have any scenes where he’s actually doing work. I guess that made Joseph so reserved and distant to everyone except for Blake and his two kids.
And he tried to kill Alexis at least twice.
This is one of my favorite scenes Dam Alexis is just shameless!
I like the scenes with the staff. It brings a certain reality to the show. Downton Abbey made good use of scenes with the staff.
totally!!! I love Downton
Sometimes I wonder if Joseph fantasizes himself as the current Mrs. Carrington.
LOL....I wondered the same thing too.
PungiFungi Your comment reeks of homophobia. Not all gay men want to be women. Quite the opposite in fact.
Messylin not all transsexuals are gay nen
Yes, i think he does, he rules over the house. Nothing to do with being gay or a transexual.
@@ib7132 you absolutely right, i agree with you 100%!!!
"Joseph had all of the dirt on 'em!"
Joseph was so legendary. Loved his presence and character, he portrayed.
Poor Lonely Joseph.."STILL THE IMPOTENT VOYEUR".......Boom Case Close...That's it I am through....!
"Do you Joseph? Alone. At night. In bed? She totally owned him here m

Joseph is out of place. He is an employee.
Yes but not to Alexis anymore!
Joseph had balls that's for sure
😂Talk about cutting someone down too about an inch! Alexis reminded him that he’s just nobody with that last line, “That will be all!” 😅
Alexis is so disrespectfull with Joseph, rich people often do that to their servant!!! Hate so much to Alexis in this scene!!!

Lee bergere played Abraham Lincoln on an episode of Star Trek, the original series. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Joan’s British Accent makes her even more sinister and the dark hair, she was perfect for this role.
Fontaine Khaled basically the same character

Poor impotent Joseph
Joseph is still legendary though...
He was such a SOB but payback is a mutha! He was nasty to both Krystle and Alexis. He didn't think any Woman was good enough for Blake Carrington.
