    Well done! I was surprised you didn’t name this “Making a Case for a Typewriter,” except for the fact that it’s not very funny and few would get the joke. (And yes, I have too much time on my hands.)

    This is a fascinating video! I’ve never personally considered repurposing vintage cases for typewriters, but that certainly seems like it’d be a great way of storing portables with no case.
    I always enjoy seeing your content!

    Looks good. If it's anything like my Gabriele 25 the case would have been a hard plastic two part shell, but it's not the sturdiest feeling thing, and the locks for the base are awkward.
    Looks like you made a little nook for the lever advance?

    Relatively new subscriber and I am loving your channel. Cracked me up when you said it sounded like they were dragging a dead body across the floor. Apartments can be a little challenging. You look so cute in this video! I can say this because you are my granddaughter's age. Not creepy. I have a Silent-Super (seafoam with racing stripes in the holiday case) and Smith Corona Electra 110 in a perfect case. I got them for $2 each and they are in gorgeous condition. The electra weighs a ton (I mentioned I am a geezer!). Didn't really want the Electra but they really wanted to re-home it. I love typewriters and your channel is big fun as well as so informative. Love the thrifting trip videos! Hope you get some amazing stuff for Christmas!

    Oh, I thought that was interesting about how you can take the bracket out of the holiday case and use it as a traveling case for your own use. Did not know that. I think Samsonite made this case. Very cool. Think it was mentioned in your series 5 video.

    Well done, Sarah! I feel bound to say that you were very fortunate to find that case. I have lost count of the amount of hours I have spent looking for a suitable case for a Royal Diana. No joy. I eventually had to opt for a plastic storage box … not pretty, but at least it keeps it protected. Best options seem to be the wide and deep cases used by travelling business reps and even medical practitioners. The one you found looks more like one of these rather than a suitcase. Tape measure essential!

    I actually own a j3 with the riginal case let me tell you they are notorious for having way more space an the latchlocks for the typewriter itself are usually crummy because of both the age and the fact they are rubber so either its not strong enought to hold the thing or is locks way to hard kepping it stuck to the buttom plate

    I see your MakeID in green behind you. So cute! The same day I saw your video about the three small label makers featuring the MakeID I also saw my favorite junk journal maker showing her new one so I went mad and bought two - one for my daughter. We love label-making/labeling so it will be used a lot! Thanks for the heads-up video!

    Great video Sarah! I have also been looking for a replacement case, but it's for an Underwood Olivetti Studio 44. She is the longest portable we have at almost 15 inches from back to front! She came from an auction for only $5.00. She was really dirty and no case, but she cleaned up beautifully. I would love to find a file folder case like that for her!

    glad i found this video!!! i just bought a royal quiet de luxe from a thrift store and it came with a case but it has like a fabric on it thats badly stained and super gross so I'm thinking of giving the case a makeover but I want to know how to make my own case for when I buy another typewriter and it doesn't come with on so I thought this video was very helpful and informative!! A wonderful project and great outcome. I have two beautiful manual typewriters without cases, and this gave me some inspiration.
    Well, the project itself and pom-pom earring both gave me inspiration.

    Hello Sarah, I was curious of any info you might know on the typewriter that I got recently (I am not asking to sell), it is a bulky but nice “Royal KMG”, it is rather nice just extremely heavy, however, I have been researching but I cannot find much info on the item. I have needed to do fixing and I just need to know if there are any hazards such as lead or any materials that might be a risk to pets. Thank you for reading if you do

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  Год назад +1

      I've found with typewriters, the hazards are the chemical solvents you use to clean them! They are not lead, but definitely metal. I swear some times my Royal 10 feels like it's cast iron because it's so heavy!

    Hi Sarah, I have a question for you. I want to get a standard typewriter; I am doing Research on which typewriter I would love to get. I have heard you and other people in the typewriter community say that standard typewriters are desks only typewriters but, if you had to make a case for it what would you do. I have the opportunity to have an Esty shop make a case for me that is custom made for the typewriter I will get. One option is a Carpet Bag another option is a Wooden Chest

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  11 месяцев назад

      A carpet bag would not provide enough protection. A standard desk machine weighs anywhere from 30-50lbs. In order to protect them properly for movement, as a case would, I would suggest a wooden case. That would, however, add to the weight of the machine

      @@JustMyTypewriter okay,
      a wood case would be best
